Anglophile Friday - Doors of England

Some of my favorite doors of England
and...'Which of These Doors Just Doesn't Belong Here?'

Top Row: Helmsley Castle, Lower Slaughter, Stanton, Malton, Bath Abbey, Kilpeck Church, St. Mary's Jackfield

Next Row: Helsmley Castle (again??), York Minster, Richmond, Wisconsin, Helmsley Castle, Richmond, Church at Cirencester

Next Row: Oops (Helmsley Castle again), Much Wenlock, Bath Abbey, Askrigg, Thirsk, Kettlewell

Bottom Row: Bath Abbey Interior Door, Skipton Castle, Richmond, Richmond, Bath Abbey, North Door of St. Paul's Cathedral London

I'm pretty sure that it was Heide who suggested I do an Anglophile Friday post on Doors of England. So, for Heide and anyone else who might like doors as much as I do, I hope you'll enjoy this collage. I actually decided to have it made into a poster, although the first one I did was sort of a 'draft' attempt, just to see what the resolution would be, so I didn't bother to go back to the original photos. That's why you'll see 'Cranberry Morning' on so many of them.

Nevertheless, these are some of my favorite doors. I'm really hoping that my TripAdvisor Airfare Watch Alert shows me airfare to London at half price, like soon! Doesn't hurt to dream, right? There are so many more doors I need to photograph! Oh, to take a train from London to York and spend a week there...sigh...

And I don't know how I managed to put the red and orange doors next to each other! Must have been when I hit 're-arrange' and liked what I saw, but, for some reason, didn't notice that. Oh well. Those are two of my very favorite: The door to the James Herriot museum in Thirsk and a door in Kettlewell. So pretty!

Did you manage to spot the door that 'doesn't belong here' ??  :-)

That train journey is suddenly sounding very appealing. I love York, and I haven't been in a few years.
Looking at these pics, I am wondering whether our front door needs to be prettied up a bit!

beautiful, all of them, my favorite is the Stanton and 2nd is the one with the dog in front of it at the bottom. i am thinking you might find a lot of doors where ever you live, i went on a door hunt in one of our neighborhoods years ago, now i might do it again

I love riding the train! I also love to see the creative things folks do with old doors. Your collage is very cool and I can not spot which door does not belong! :(

Love the door photos! I took several photos of doors when we were in Italy. Never thought to put them together in a collage. Excellent!

I will keep a look out for you as well for cheaper flights,if you book with British Airways before January 1st you will get double airmiles, up to 100,000 with each trip and that means that you get 2 free flights.... and spending a week in York? Heck yes! York is divine!
Also, isn't it amazing that the older doors are so short? people were so small then and I know that even the mummies at the British Museum were really small so people have gotten a lot taller!

Love the doors. Oh, how I'd like to tag along on your trip to London but alas, I am off to the warm Mexican Rivera tomorrow morning.

Richmond, WI, is pretty far away from the UK! ;-) Great photos! I finally got caught up on your blog. Loved the highland cattle pictures; we saw some at our local fair this fall. Pretty animals! Hope you had a great Turkey day!

I can't remember if I suggested doors or not! Lol! Great idea, though! They are quite striking all together. And I do love old doors.
Your idea to get a poster printed is marvelous! Maybe you should sell them?

As soon as I saw the door of Thirsk I knew it was 23 Kirkgate, home of the James Herriot's office. I think I mentioned once that I would love to see you do an Anglophile Friday of pictures of the doors of England...love this. Great photos as usual.
