Morning Light

Early Morning Light, Burning off the Fog

"Whether I retire to bed early or late, I rise with the sun."
- Thomas Jefferson

That is true of me too. Even if, like last night, I have lain in bed awake from 3 AM until 6 AM, once there's a hint of a rising sun, I'm up. And usually before that. I love those first minutes of morning worship, thanking God for his mercy and grace, and pondering his willingness to reveal himself to us in Jesus.  After putting on my cozy long robe, I check to make sure the kitty has enough food in her dish, then walk downstairs, push the button on the coffee pot, and take the dogs out. My day has officially begun.

I love morning.

Ready to alert us to the occasional car

Question:

So, are you an early riser? Late riser? Hate morning? Didn't realize there was a morning? Maybe you need to stop in sometime and sit at my kitchen counter. I'll pour you a cup of coffee and scrounge up some dark chocolate to go with it.

Do you have a morning routine? Inquiring minds want to know!

Early riser here, lol...still waiting for the light :)

Love that first picture! I'm a reluctant early riser, but we're normally stirring by 0630 weekdays. To really appreciate morning, you need to be out in it. Overcoming a certain lack of enthusiasm, it invariably surprises me how wonderful mornings are. Unless I'm working away, I have been known to drag my poor old bones off on a short walk, or even a bike ride; it makes a real difference to the day. Harder to do when the dark winter mornings are upon us, though.

wow, 3 am. that is early. i would say it depends. when i was younger i would get up usually very easily. now that the hubby is the one who has to get up at a particular time (he sets an alarm.) i really think if you get up every day at the same time you are good, he does not. so usually i get into a routine & know when we wake up it is any what different. i get restless & wake up any ways knowing he pushed the alarm back later. silly man. he leaves usually by 6:30 am ... so i get a lot of time alone & think, write, etc. etc. ( :

This is so very beautiful. I actually always rise before the sun. In fact, I think I may wake it up.

I AM a morning person, always have been. If I sleep late (7 a.m) I feel like I've wasted my whole day already - silly, I know. One night last week, someone called be at 9:15 p.m. - I was already in bed and asleep....they said, are you sleeping? I thought about calling them at 4 a.m. - the time we set the alarm to rise - so we could finish black top sealing the driveway in the dark before work...another story....

I love the picture of your sweet husband in the early morning Judy...so peaceful! I am an early riser and I guess that came in handy when I was a nurse. If I do not accomplish things before lunch, it is 50/50 if I do it in the afternoon!lol I was restless last night as well. I try to take that time to pray for friends and family as they come to mind but I must admit, I would rather be sleeping.

Good morning! Well the quote is certainly true for me. Always has been. I NEVER set an alarm. I just automatically awaken at pretty much the same time every morning. And yes, I ALWAYS do pretty much the same thing. Make the bed and step right into the shower. It has always driven my family wild but they have given up trying to change me. Then it's to the kitchen, make a cup of tea and to my chair with my Bible and time with the Lord. I follow it up with some visits in blogland, facebook, and the news and then onto my day. Same thing...different day, lol Enjoy yours...LOVE your pictures!

Judy, I'll be at your counter around 6:45 after I take my dogs out! ;-) We get up pretty faithfully at 6:30. I take out the dogs, while my husband gets their food out for them. I fix my coffee and some breakfast, sometimes cooking, sometimes just cereal. We read our Portals of Prayer. Then I'm ready to start the day. If I slept late I would be some discombobulated for the rest of the day!

Beautiful. I love morning, but rarely get up to see sunrise anymore. I always want to, but . . . . .

Early morning gal here! I go to bed late and get up early. I think it oomes from being raised on a dairy farm.

My "routine" is a pot of fresh coffee (black for me) and then I turn on the news-watch local then headline news-sometimes checking my emails at the same time.

Judy- I love that first picture! I am going to use it as my screen saver! Just thought I would tell you BEFORE I stole it...lol xo Diana

I have to get up on week days for work and I have trouble making myself. However on Saturdays, when I could sleep in, I am almost always awake early and don't want to waste a minute.

Can't wait for vacation to get up early and watch the sunrise over the ocean each morning.

totally AWESOME golden morning light and the view from your porch is to die for.. we are early to bed early to rise and have a set schedule we rarely change. 365 days a year we are up at 4, the dogs go out, we drink coffee and conversation in bed until 5, out to the pool at the YMCA at 5:17 back home by 6:30... we see the sun rise every single day... sunset is another story. that is rare. i would live on your porch if i had it.. what a place for my kidnle and ME and i want a swing please

Your first picture is just GORGEOUS!!! I love it! Forget New Year's Day! To me, each morning is a brand new start and a clean slate. God is so good to us!

Love the pictures! I also love mornings. There is something about the fresh start of the day. But I am not a fan of getting up Before the sun like when I have to go in to work early, nothing worse then getting up in the dark. That being said, I love to stay up late reading. Sometimes both don't work so well together! Lol!

I love your early morning photos. It's the best time of the day! I love to see the sunrise this time of year which is about 7:20 or after. I guess I get up about 7 right now but I'm sure as the winter comes I'll sleep in longer as it's darker. But. I do not sleep in until noon! Just not in me at all. I like to get up and get going.

Hmmm...I don't want to be a morning person but work calls :) Yet, I forget about that and don't usually retire until 11p or 12a. Thank you for popping by my blog, I always love to meet new friends! Blessings, Cindy

Ahhh...wouldn't that be nice to enjoy a cup of coffee together in the beautiful morning light. My husband has a hard time staying awake past 3am in the morning. I'm good in bed till at least 7 if I can manage. More and more it get's earlier and earlier. The peace of the morning is something to enjoy...

My husband gets up for work at 4:15. Miss Josephine bounces off the walls and the bed (really and truly bounces) wanting me to be up by 6:30, but I get up at 8. Make tea, take medication, do internet stuff, take Josephine out to play, Skype at 9 AM with my best friend, then housework and errands. Egad, this sounds boring. I have always been a late afternoon Quiet Time kind of person.

I adore mornings! The early mornings. As long as everyone leaves me alone. I prefer my mornings to be solitary. There's nothing as peaceful and calming as quiet, alone time, early mornings. :)

Yep, you've got to be a morning person.

You have gorgeous views!
I'm definitely a morning person, once I'm awake I have to get up. I'd be up at 3am if I were awake. My routine is always the same, let the dog out, kettle on and that first coffee of the day is always the best one, then computer on to catch up on emails and blogs. It's great being retired :)

How can one pass by those magical morning hours when you can see a beautiful scene like your first photo? I like to get up at or before sunrise. At home, we usually have our coffee and watch Fox and Friends for a while, chatting now and then about plans for the day or week (or make snide comments about the empty chair presidency, LOL). A little breakfast, and then we are on with our day. On trips, we usually get up very early to do some sunrise photography.

I am with you. I love mornings. I wake early too. Wait till 6 get up, get a cup of coffee, turn on the computer and start my day. Always with thanks to God for another day on this earth.

What a beautiful, beautiful place you live, Judy. With this beauty to wake up to, I'd be up with the sun for sure. As it is, I am an early riser. Why waste the gift of the day by sleeping through it?

Judy S. said...

We had a similar fog this morning on our way to church. Instead of trees peeking out it was tall buildings and we wished for our camera as the sun broke through. We are getting back into our time zone after having been gone for 2 weeks, so our mornings have been a little "off" for the past week.

Well, I would love to sit at your kitchen counter or on your lovely porch and enjoy a cup of coffee, and your company! Great photos (always).

Love your photos. I am usually up with the sun. I usually go on my computer. I don't do coffee although I think that I should start a better routine in the morning. Maybe just sit in the kitchen and look out the window.....

Great opening shot, worth getting up for.

I'm another reluctant early riser, 6:30 during the week and a lie in ... to 8am at weekends !. Having said that, two weeks ago I was on a rail tour all around southern Scotland and the train began its journey from my station at 5:44 am !!

I love your view.
I like to get up in the morning when it's still quiet.
This is when I have my quiet time with the Lord.
