Socks and Salad

Don't my feet look warm and happy!

I got a fun package in the mail the other day. It was from Wyoming. Nancy of Wyoming Breezes had knit not one, but TWO pair of socks for me. She had asked me what color I liked, and I replied that I like kelly green. Well, kelly green is what I got. A pair of gorgeously knitted kelly green socks, made of 100 percent Merino Wool. They are soft and delicious, and fit perfectly. The color is called 'pesto.' It's prettier in person than the color I got with my camera. I am delighted!

The knitting is so perfect! And I think she knitted them up in about 5 minutes (only slightly exaggerating, perhaps). She is very fast. I admire anyone who can knit socks at all, but this was incredible.

I love my socks, Nancy!  Thank you so much.  Check out Nancy's blog, Wyoming Breezes. She is one very talented lady. I suspect that she is a master of all things textile and yarn. (That's not the same thing, right?)

And because I saw this photo in my January file:

One of my favorite salads

I like to make up a lot of this at one time, rather than having bits of vegetables wrapped separately in the refrigerator. Then I put it all in a 2 gallon Ziploc bag so that we have salad on hand, making it easy, and more likely that we'll eat a salad at lunchtime and with our dinner.

Mixed Spring Greens
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Peppers
Shredded Carrots
Onion
Snow Peas
Black Beans or Chickpeas
Walnuts
Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing

And, of course,

CHEESE
especially Kerrygold, Dubliner
(imported from Ireland)
I am embarrassed to admit that it is this Wisconsinite's
favorite everyday cheese.

Can you believe that I even dare write those words??
Whatever happened to state loyalty.

Don't worry. I love Wisconsin cheeses too.

Those socks are GORGEOUS and I am sure toasty and warm!! We are big Dubliner Cheese fans as well. A friend introduced us to it when we visited them a year or so ago. I always enjoy finding new foods to try.

I'm delighted that you like the socks; however I think I got the best end of the swap, as I love the soaps that you sent in exchange!

You have Happy Feet!
Isn't she clever ~ I don't knit socks or anything that 'goes round corners'!
Good salad idea, and about the bags too. Unfortunately my husband can't eat walnuts, AND he likes them.I'd have to miss those out but it looks delicious anyway.
Thank you for visiting me!
You asked about spag bol, I think? = spaghetti bolognese : ) or should I say blog-o-nese...

Oh you are converted now! Hand knit wool socks are the best! I don't know what I would do with out mine. It is always a sad day when it get too warm to wear them.

Somehow it always seems like more of a struggle to eat salads in the winter, much rather have warm comfort food! I have been collecting recipes trying to get inspired.

Love the colour of your gifted socks and I regularly buy KerryGold cheese too. Much better than the rubbery stuff that also says cheese on the label.

A perfect way to keep your salad in easy reach.....

Cool socks. You'll be the envy of the neighbourhood when you wear them.

The salad looks tasty too, and healthy.

Have a great weekend.

Great socks. It's almost a shame to wear shoes when you have socks that look that good. What on earth is kelly green? Don't get me started on cheese - I'm an addict: good cheddar (love Canadian), stilton, Lancashire, Danish blue, a creamy brie...yum!

Deb @ Frugal Little Bungalow said...

THose socks look so comfy and warm.

I see that she quilts too! :)

I like your SALAD MIX, hand knit KELLY GREEN socks and CHEESE imported from Ireland . . .
I wonder, the first time you tasted that cheese . . .
were you in IRELAND?

Oh those look marvelous. I have had a pleasant time visiting at the link you provided. The way we love wool socks in this family, someone needs to learn how to knit them!

Love those cozy-cute socks, Judy!!

Good idea to make your own salad mix waiting there in the fridge. I'm afraid I still have some Christmas fudge in my fridge. (The only good news in that is that I haven't eaten it all yet.) :)

What a wonderful surprise!

THOSE are knitted!!!! They are absolutely perfect!! So envious :)

Magali@TheLittleWhiteHouse said...

The socks are perfect! Merinos is my favourite wool: soft and warm. And their colour look very Irish, goes perfectly with the cheese.

Ruth Kelly said...

I wish I could wear wool but I am allergic to it and when I used to knit, I could never knit with wool. I have been tempted to try that cheese but I am afraid I might like it too much and it is so much more expensive to buy.

Hootin Anni said...

That salad looks scrumptious!!!

And those socks....beautiful colors and oh so cozy warm for winter!!

Rose said...

I was here earlier, but don't think I ever got a comment done...your feet look happy and content to me...and that salad looks delicious!

Pat @ Mille Fiori Favoriti said...

Beautiful socks! I am also a lover of the color green --I guess it is because I'm half Irish ;) I also love Dubliewr cheese and sometimes I splurge on Kerrygold butter as I feel in love with its taste on a trip to Ireland.

The socks are beautiful! My daughter tried knitting socks at one time, I remember her working on the heel to get it right.
