Wisconsin Barns and Good Fences

Barn Near Sand Creek, WI

Another Barn Near Sand Creek, WI
April 16, 2015

Hi everyone. I hope you had a great weekend.  We're starting out this week a bit cooler than last, and are expecting rainy, cool weather all week. BUT, last week we had perfect weather while two of the grandsons were with us, for which I am so grateful.

The photos in this post are from our little jaunt to Sand Creek, WI where we took the boys to lunch at their favorite cafe and then to the park so they could play in Sand Creek.

Waiting for a cheeseburger and a grilled cheese
(This IS Wisconsin, ya know)

As you might remember from last week, this little guy always chose a huge walking stick, and I had to capture his attempt at trying to make the bend in the bridge while carrying such a long stick. He succeeded. I shouldn't have been surprised.

Railroad Bridge at Harper's Ferry, WV

Why am I including the two photos of the railroad bridge at Harper's Ferry, West Virginia?  Because one of the grandsons asked me why I had named my dog (no longer with us) 'Bridger,' (see sidebar) so I had to explain that I had named my dog after the bridge at Harper's Ferry.  He thought that was really stupid unusual. 'Gramma, people don't name their dog after a bridge!'  LOL

But that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!  Love that bridge.

The pictures of the grandkids are adorable. Love the shot of them playing by the creek/river. We're having the same kind of weather. Perhaps the rain will help the tulips grow and the grass green up!

LOVE your pictures and KNOW your week with "the grands" was perfect. Do you ever make your own cheese? After all you are in Wisconsin!
Blessings!

Yes, Lulu, I make my own Feta. I've made mozzarella, but it costs no more to buy than to make, so I only did that once.

What a wonderful post full of great photos. I love the barn ones of course. The kids look like they are having a blast while visiting with you. The diner looks great. Have a good week.

Perfect photos! I know you had a great time with the boys last week. Are you and Kevin napping this week? Lol!

Cute post, Judy. Kids are such fun to spend the day with. I wonder what I would have named our old dog if I had changed his name when we adopted him from the shelter. I just kept it thinking he had been through enough change. It's nice when a name means something special to us. I really must photograph some old barns around here. There are plenty to choose from. Beautiful pictures - of course you eat cheese when you visit here! My brother who lives in another country, craves cheese curds - the fried type...

Fabulous blue skies, sunshine, with barns, bridges and grandchildren equal a fun blog post to view.

It would be funny if I someday came here and seen a barn that I had also snapped when we went through Wisconsin! I always look forward to your barn posts...partly for that, and partly because WI has some great barns. And a LOT of them.

So happy you enjoyed great weather for the grandsons' visit. That is so cute with the BIG stick! I love the bridge too. The photo of Bridger on your sidebar is great; I know you miss him. I love the barns and the nice reflections in the water. God bless your day.

What a fun day with the grandboys!! That looks like a pretty place to visit and hey, I am always ready for a Cheeseburger or a Grilled Cheese. Love the story of your dogs name! I thought maybe it was after jim Bridger, the Indian Scout.

Lovely barn shots, but I have to say that my favorite is the little grand walking across the bridge with the walking stick that is twice his height! Soooo cute!! Just yesterday, I thought of your grandson when Bekah and my grands went to walk some paths in the woods and they all had sticks. This morning, there is a huge stick on my back porch that someone left.

Judy, Once again your picture are outstanding. All that blue in the skies and the reflections. Glad you enjoyed your young grandsons. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
p.s. we are to have gloomy weather this week also.

Thank you for the lovely photos!
PS As always, the soap mosaic is wonderful too. I could eat all those soaps, they look so delicious!

Hi, Judy!

I love the scenery!

The one with the steam reminds me of when our guys played near the stream.

Great pictures!! I love the ones with the blue sky and water! And of course the bridges. A BIG yes, I do remember the stick! It is a cute thing that has stuck in my mind. He is quite agile with it. I had many happy hours by a creek just like this one. They are cutie pies!

I loved playing in the small creeks on our farm. I don't know exactly the fascination but it is so cool to see even today. Like all your farm shots and bride too.

Bridge has a "g" in it. Sorry.

Tut tut little grandson, Grandma's can name their dog after anything we want! :-) Our first dog I called Rachel and it was my MIL who couldn't understand that one - well I thought it was feminine for such a sweet little girl.
It's funny how barns are much the same here as they are in the south - maybe there weren't many building plans available way back when.
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday Judy.

Beautiful farms along the creek. Something strange has happened here in our corner. Working farms are no longer allowed on any stream or river. Can you believe it?

Since we are also in the middle of a cold, rainy week, I can appreciate how grateful you are for a delightful week last week with the grands. Boys are happier when they can be outside exploring and playing and finding the best walking stick.

MadSnapper said...

LOL on the long walking stick and the bridge. to cute. I love the first photo of the Bridger Bridge, the perspective is wonderful...the sky and the reflections of sky in the barn shots is amazing.
