The Great Reveal

Okay, it might be a bit of a letdown, but the great reveal is...
my DVD collection. Do any of these look familiar to you?

The ones that don't show a title (right side) are all 'Frost' (Inspector Jack Frost)

So this is my DVD collection. I have so many favorites, and if I ever get another DVD, it will most likely be Inspector George Gently. I just noticed that one of the shelves was photographed twice.

Do you have a favorite movie? TV show?

You'll notice that 'Call the Midwife' is not on my shelves. I even tried another time to watch it (that would be three times in all) just for Suzan (SimplyVintageous blog), but I just can't get into it... Too much labor and delivery. It's all so exhausting! I'm sure many of you are fans, for I hear it's a huge hit. Perhaps I'm just not looking at it right and you can explain it to me.

Sorry the first photo is blurry and that my snowmen are still sitting on top of the cabinet. Not really too sorry that they're still there, because after all, we just stepped out of winter into glorious spring. (Stay tuned, that could change any minute.)

A few of my favorite sleuths!

As you know, I'm way behind in visiting blogs. We've been making  treks to the southern part of the state to work on the cousin's estate. Huge job, and when I get back, the last thing I want to do is sit at the computer. I can't seem to write a blog post from my phone. What I can do is post photos to Instagram. So if you're interested, see the button on my sidebar, 'View on Instagram.'

Other than that, I will be posting as frequently as I can and hopefully getting around to other blogs as well.  You're all a great group of blogging friends and I do appreciate you!  xo

P.S. Update:  I also just noticed that I didn't take photos of the bottom two shelves. But they're mostly Foyle's War, Winds of War, War and Remembrance, and Inspector Campion.

I see some familiar ones from what I can see at a glance. I should zoom in and use it as a movie rec. list for us. I see P and P (two versions I think?) and Beatrice Potter. I think P and P might be at the top of my favorites, but actually Rocky (I) might be my all time favorite, which is a surprise to many! I hope your work at your cousin's goes well.

I need to get all the Downton episodes - I miss it already with it being gone.

I have probably more musicals than anything in my DVD collection :)

Hello, you have a wonderful DVD collection. We have not bought any DVD's since my son was younger and lived at home. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!

Joan Hickson as Miss Marple is one of my favourites too. So is Keeping up the appearances, jeeves and Columbo. My husband collects DVDs, never counted them but he has a lot!

I LOVE your DVD shelf and I have many of the ones you display! I have a lot of the Britcoms as well as the mysteries. I like Call the Midwife but being a nurse, it is right up my alley. However, I will say I am not enjoying this season as much. The first two seasons were the best. I love Endeavor and I have to say I was sceptical about BBC finding some one to play Morse as a young man but they hit the nail on the head. I also love the Inspector Lewis mysteries as I have always loved Lewis. I hope you continue to make progress with your daunting task Judy.

Hello, Judy! Thank you for this fun post!
The intriguing "Runaway Jury" is one of my favourite films. I so wish things would go like that in real life too...
Of TV series, I adore "Morse", the original, and watch "Endeavour" missing the real thing. Its theme music is perhaps the best title music ever written. :)
Have a lovely new week!

We LOVE Call the Midwife. There is so much more than babies being born and the characters are so well developed.

Our DVD collection includes over 700 titles. We had to get rid of the covers and buy special boxes for them. We have three notebooks to track which box has what DVD. Ridiculous! We don't buy them anymore now that we have a Roku and stream Netflix and Acorn TV.

I see lots of my favorites! We love Miss Marple but don't have the DVDs...can I pop over and borrow yours? hehe! We tried to watch the Midwives too but couldn't take it. We liked the setting and the characters....but don't like the content! Too real...too much! Enjoy your day! Hugs, Diane (when I come over, I will put all of your movies in alphabetical order, it's one of my favorite things to do!)

Judy, we also have lots of DVDs, but now the access to movies on the Internet and TV are so much easier to view. Sort of a click of the button, so to speak.

Lol Judy! At least you have it a good shot!
For me? Midwives completely fills the void left by Downton.... ( and then some )
I think John has a man crush in inspector Morse!

I am a huge fan of Call the Midwife. I was so sad when they stopped the series. I have not bought the DVD's but I plan to. I did buy a book but it apparently was part II and was a lot different than the regular shows although I did read it through. - I too have not been able to blog very often but due to different reasons. We are raising our granddaughter who is 15 months old and sits still, NEVER. So.... I will try to check out your Etsy store. -

What a great collection you have. I too have a very, very large collection of movies but mine are not like yours although I do have Holiday Inn and Les Miserables! I am actually a fan of Call The Midwife but I do not have the DVD's. I wouldn't mind owning Downton Abbey.

Judy, I see a couple of my favorites Pride and Prejudice and Miss Marple. Love Actually with Liam Neeson and Finding Neverland with Johnny Depp are a couple of my favorite movies. Sylvia D.

HI Judy. I noticed the DVD "Frequency" on your shelf. Is that the story about the ham radio operator? We watched it when it came out years ago and I would love to see it again. I keep checking Netflix to see if it's there but it's not. :( We enjoyed George Gently on Netflix but it is no longer available. I LOVED Call the Midwife! One of my faves on Netflix. I'm watching season 5 of Downton Abbey now. Is that the last and final season? We have a lot of DVDs which we watch over and over but mostly we've been watching Netflix the past year although there are times when there isn't anything on there worth looking at! I hope your current task will finish soon and that you have a blessed week ahead. xx Pam

Have you seen Inspector Allen? I was expecting to see him on your shelves too. Love the books too. Also, Have you heard of Inspector Maigret? He is a French inspector. We run across the episodes in youtube.

I have tried Call the Midwife too. It is not bad, really. The characters are funny and there is always a interesting/odd story. But I can't take too much at a time and would rather watch a mystery any day!

Wow, you have a lot of DVDs (says she who has none!)
I love watching British detective mysteries – often as much for the scenery as for the story.
I see you have Wolf Hall and if I were into buying DVDs that would be the one for me.

Wow! That's an impressive DVD collection Lady!! Too bad about Call the Midwife as I love that one too. Although, to be honest I at times fast forward the delivery scenes. ;)

My favorite sleuth lately is Sidney from Grantchester. Partly because I find it intriguing - his view on things as a man of God vs his detective buddy's ideas. Love their friendship...very interesting. But mostly because I just like looking at said Vicar. Lol!! I'm confessing all kinds of things aren't I?

Blessings on your week my Dear. xoxo

I saw a number of movies I've seen and loved...and of course Downton Abbey. It has crossed my mind a couple times to question if a post can be made from our phones and although I've done it from my iPad, much prefer the good old laptop.

Well my goodness, we view so many of the same programs! Especially the mysteries.
I see, too, that Heidi has watched several of my favourites. Youtube has a great selection of old British shows available.

Judy, your selection of DVD's would delight me. I love just about every one. Hopefully you will soon be able to relax at home with your feet up with some of Mr. C's popcorn and enjoy one from your great library of movies. ♥

Love to see others' DVD and book collections. I see many of my favorites. I can understand about Call the Midwife. I've only seen it twice, but both times a little hard to watch. The last one I saw featured a baby born with defects from the mom using thalidomide. so sad, I couldn't stop thinking about it.
I've been busy, too; hard to keep up with blogging right now, so I understand. We're helping our daughter and fiancé get his new house (soon to be their house) painted and cleaned up so he can move in.
And I do like your new etsy header.

Do not fret my friend, I am way behind as well...life just takes us in many directions and not all of them very much fun. I have no favorites on the movies, there are a few I would watch several times over, in the now I love to watch those streaming Netflix TV series. Take care~

Hi Judy! That is quite the collection - you will never run out of something good to watch. Jane

Lots of great choices there! Do you have two Miss Potters or is that just a trick of photography? I watched my first Midwives program Last Sunday. I watched it to catch the actress who starred with Felicity Kendall in Rosemary and Thyme. It was good, but as you say, the theme of necessity is a lot repetitious. LOL! You are doing good work with the cousin's estate...never an easy task. Take it easy now...

Wow. That is quite a collection. With me, it is books, though I have whittled those down some. The ones I do not really read or refer to, I have passed on to others. Collections are important parts of who we are, though.

Judy, I see so many of my favorites there. Not surprised. Your house could become my favorite B&B. I could watch some of those DVDs or grab a book and laze around in the screened-in porch. And then, of course, there's Tuppence to pet when I'm ready for more strenuous activity!

I love looking through peoples DVD collections. Surprising the only ones I own from what I see here are the Indiana Jones series and Conspiracy Theory. I have to say after reading Runaway Jury I was disappointed with the film. Last night we watched something new to me The Murdoch Mysteries which makes a change from the collections of Columbo, Morse, Poirot and Frost.
