The Three Little Kittens, Advent, and The Church Mice

He needs his mommy to wash his face!

So last week I told you the crazy story about the three little kittens that suddenly appeared on our deck, seemingly out of nowhere. Their mother had been in the house with us for nearly a week. Anyway, some of you suggested that there must be another cat outdoors that had taken care of the kittens for that week that mother and kittens were separated. No, there are no other cats in the area. It's just an amazing story, and now mother and kittens are all doing fine, and I can hardly stop watching their cute little antics long enough to get anything done.

I have been busy making Christmas soaps and they're ready in my Etsy shop and at my website, HomemadeSoapnSuch.com. Don't forget, Etsy buyers, if you want multiples of any of my soaps, I can make a Reserved Listing just for you. Just let me know. (HomemadeSoapnsuch.com is already set up for multiples.)

I'm also collecting the books I'm going to use for Advent. I like to get at least one new book for Advent each year, and the newest addition is, 'O Come Emmanuel, A Musical Tour of Daily Readings for Advent and Christmas' by Gordon Giles.

Also coming to our house is the book,  'Light Upon Light: a Literary Guide to Prayer for Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany' by Sarah Arthur.

And a book I ordered, particularly with the grandkids in mind is 'The Church Mice at Christmas.' We had the Church Mice books by Graham Oakley in the house when our kids were young, but evidently they were library copies. So it was time to buy my own. So many of the fun books our kids had when they were young have been replaced in the bookstores by newer, less interesting, books. Okay, that's my opinion. And I do realize that bookstores only have so much shelf space, but it's sad that some of the great kids' books are simply no longer found in the bookstores.

Although these are terribly grainy images from Amazon.com, I thought I'd include these three books today, should you wish to check them out and see if they're something you'd like to have at your house in time for Advent.  And of course if you're like me, you'll go to Amazon.com and read the reviews first to find out what they're all about and whether or not people liked them and what they thought about them.

I'll be sure to let you know later if I've liked the first two. I know that I like The Church Mice.

Love the photos of Audrey and the kittens. My youngest cat is 5 and I had forgotten how tiny and cute kittens are! Thanks for sharing about the books. Happy Nov. 1!

Well, I can see why you can't get anything done....they're all adorable, including the Momma!!! I can't even believe it's November 1st...time to start thinking about THANKSgiving and CHRISTmas! Where did October go? It flew by faster than any month I've ever lived through. Oh, does that mean I'm getting old? Yes...yes, I believe it does! ;-) Happy Tuesday, sweet Lady.

There is no doubt God had a hand in their care for that week. A little miracle, indeed. They look perfect and Audrey seems to be taking on motherhood well. I guess after her week of 'holiday' she is well rested for the job. I remember when Annie first arrived with her kit I got absolutely nothing done as I spent hours with them. No regrets. Thanks for the book reviews. And, thanks again for the soaps. Looking forward to receiving them. :) Have a great week, Judy. Hugs to Audrey and her little family. xo

Judy, So much cuteness. I think the kittens are adorable. Glad they are all together now. I saw three cats yesterday at the golf cart repair shop. One outside, one on a window sill and one on the lady's desk while she was working. so funny. I told her I liked her cat paperweight. LOL. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

The kittens are cute and look so cuddly. How's Tuppence dealing with the new arrivals?

So, I caved and told Bekah about the kittens. She is sad that you live in Wisconsin. :)

Oh my. No wonder you're having a hard time getting anything else done! Such adorableness!! (Is that a word?)

I pre-ordered an advent book that Joyce recommended but it has yet to arrive. Which reminds me I need to check on that. :) I bet Marcy would love watching the kittens and I would love her doing that instead of fighting her nap. Ha!

Maybe Audrey and the mysterious three are an early Christmas miracle.
I hope your new advent books meet your expectations, I'm sure you'll share more about them later.

I just saw a cartoon of two mice standing at the door of a mouse hole talking to the mouse who answered the door. Underneath, it said "Church Mice" and they were saying, "We'd like to talk to you about cheeses." I had to read it twice to get it, but then thought it was hilarious.

The kittens are so sweet :) It's sad that the independent book stores are closing down. I do love used book stores, though. That's where I get most of my books these days. xx Karen

I will show this picture to the grands since they are enjoying the story. It's a good picture, and a good story. Looks like good books too. Coming by your blog is always enlightening, interesting, fun, etc. :-)

Judy, what sweet kittens. One day, I hope to have a kitten - I have to convince my husband first.

Thank you for the advent book recommendations!

I love the old kids books, too. IF you can find a copy of Father Foxes Penny Rhymes it was always ALL my kids' favorite book. I found used ones on Amazon to give each of them a copy two years ago. It is from the 70s, I think.

Good luck on your soap sales. I am sure you will do well.

LOVE those sweet kitties. Actually wish I could take one--but I can't. xo Diana
