Little Farming, Big Farming

This is how we garden. See the little onions, now happily basking in the warm soil.

See the wee tomatoes and peppers, raised from seed, eagerly awaiting their turn to be planted.

See (if you squint really hard) the stressed little tomato and pepper plants, feeling betrayed by the hot sunshine when a cloudy day had been forecast.

See the farmer who rents our land taking the alfalfa from the field north of the house.

See the HUGE farm machinery. The chopper and truck run side by side, the chopper blowing the alfalfa into the truck. Another truck stands by to switch trucks when the first one is full. It took them just about no time to take all the alfalfa off the field. It is an amazing thing to watch. I wished our little grandsons could have seen this.

Our brave little Tiller the Hun looks puny by comparison.

  1. Gardens...we love them, especially after they have yielded their promise from the seed. Our garden is almost planted but we have a few more things left to put in. I even went and bought a couple packages of the pea pods you talked about at Bill's. Well, hopefully we will get rain when needed and I won't have to drag the hose around trying to wet the soil.

  2. By the way, what happened to the little cute annoying sheep??

  3. Glad you found the peas. It would be nice, indeed, if it rained when we needed rain. Unfortunately, that's not usually how it works. I'm hoping I don't kill any more plants by dragging the watering hose across them. :-(

I had a complaint about poor little Muker, my noisy sheep, so I surrendered him to the virtual animal shelter. :-(((( If I can get enough requests for his return, I will place him back on my site. :-) As it is, he's at the shelter waiting...

  4. Will you forgive me if I am not one of the people that request his return? :D Maybe he will get adopted into another good home. (I do know you really loved him though.)

  6. Some people find things amusing. We find them punny. It's really terrible to live with. Maybe it has to do with an extra chromosome or something. Not sure how that works, but most of the family has the pun bug. And it doesn't always come at the most appropriate times either. Sometimes while listening to a serious sermon...

Glad you found your peas, Deb. I've got a great pic of Mike and Kevin that I'll have to post some day soon.
