What a beautiful sight! Wood that is dry, ready, and waiting to keep our house toasty warm, even when it's very cold outdoors.
Green beans waiting in the storage room - a nice side dish for chicken or beef.
Tomatoes for my soups and stews
A selection of books to read in front of the fire
The tried and true DVDs that are my favorites
Maps to help me plan and dream
A reminder that I actually did start knitting last winter. I need to branch out a little, moving from hats to an easy baby sweater, perhaps. They tell me there is such a thing. We'll see.

The Ritter Sport dark chocolate with hazelnut bar which I'd better limit this winter. I need to keep reminding myself what the word 'occasional' means.

Looks like you are getting ready for hibernation. Your post has an extra warmth about it that makes me want to stay indoors.... I can't believe I just said that !!
Good Monday morning! That fire would be mighty cozy right now, it's shivery!
Looks like you are ready for snow! Maybe a cold front will come in and turn all of your rain white! I'm about ready to get our wood burning stove/furnace going too! My toes have not warmed up yet this morning!
Stay dry and have a good one!
You are definitely ready for winter...or anything else that might come up!! I need to send you all some of our weather..it is still far too hot here to even think about winter!!
You make winter look good! Do you all heat with a wood stove insert? We've thought about adding one, but love looking at the fire - and consequently sending our money right up the chimney.
Oh, it looks SO cozy there! I saw that you plan to read Suite Francaise; I'm about halfway through, and it's extraordinary. Difficult to read at times, but deeply moving ....
It does sound and look as though you'll be ready for the winter months ahead! I enjoyed visitin your blog again. Have a wonderful day.

Mmmm, what a warm and cozy post...we're experiencing our first cold snap ourselves...my daughter wore a sweatshirt over her uniform today (course, it'll be off by the end of the day, but we can certainly dream of days to come!)
Love your choice of books...CS Lewis, a fav of mine, too...and North and South, omgoodness, a true love, hadn't read it in a while...I should!
Everything looks so cozy and delightful! I love this time of year. I miss having a wood burning stove. We have a gas fireplace now and it's just not the same!
Hope you have a wonderful day!
Blessings,
Jill
Looks like you're prepared for almost anything! And definitely ready for more than hats. Would you like me to send a copy of a very versatile sweater pattern with not too much sewing at the end and an opt. hood? I've made it many times...
Looks like you are all set for a cozy winter! Our weather finally has cooled here. Saturday was 90s then a drastic change on Sunday to 70s and rainy. We don't have a harsh winter here but we've lived for years in the North so we know what they are like-
I always love visiting! I love winter! I really love the feeling of every season. Winter is such a cozy one. This was a great post! The hats are so cute! Have a great night!

Looks like it will be a wonderful winter my friend, love you.
LOL! Our family calls it Squirrel Mode! That time of year when you pull up the last of the dead tomatoes in the garden, Clean out the garage to make sure you can get to the snowblower and shovels, Can dozens of jars of applesauce and Put away pounds of fruit in the freezer! Not to mention all the mittens and socks just hopping off the needles! It's a busy time of year....
Heidi, I truly believe that mittens and socks just hop off the needles at your house. At my house, I'm trying to work up the courage to attempt socks. I've seen beautiful socks that Becky has made - and to think that anyone would wear them on their feet! They should be a centerpiece or something. :-)
YUM! I'll take the chocolate, please! :)
Hibernation it is and it looks like your place will be a good place to do it too! :D (hand over that chocolate bar and no one will get hurt!)
What a warm and cozy post! I want to come spend winter with you! :) (and watch Emma!)
Judy, looks like you have all I need there for a happy winter! I'd even let you have the chocolate bars all to yourself!
