The other day, I was visiting my brother's website, Sound Living, and the article entitled Knowing God caught my eye. It begins,
'Do you know God? What a question!
If your concept of God has any largeness to it at all you recognize that even asking the question borders on hubris, an exaggerated self-confidence.
How can a mere human being know God.
If God is and is at all knowable, he would have to make himself known.
The Bible declares that is exactly what God has done...
You won't be sorry.
How can a man be God and how can God be a man?
And yet that is exactly what John says he has set out to prove.
John 20: 31 “These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
And he will use the rest of the book to prove it to us by the use of places, dates, people and events.
He wants to convince the skeptic and confirm the believer.
And yet it is regarding the identity of Jesus that true Christianity clashes with the secular world and with secular Christianity.'

ReplyDeleteVery deep, isn't it?! Indeed, God has to draw us to Him, and make Himself known to us before we can ever know Him. The bible clearly states that no one searches out God. God must reveal Himself to us, before we search Him out. I am so thankful that He did that for me, and put His Gospel in my path.
ReplyDeleteI am humbled, and grateful today to say that I KNOW God! I won't ever completely understand Him, or His ways, but I can now enjoy fellowship and communion with Him through Jesus Christ, His Son. I praise God for His Son who died for my sins, that I might have access to His throne! Thank you Jesus, for interceeding for me! Thank you God, for your abundant mercy, grace, and love!
I will have to check this out ... I address these issues on a daily basis -- trying to know, hoping to understand, building a relationship, trying to do my part to invest in that bond ....
ReplyDeleteThat's your brother? WOW! Good stuff! SO sad the letter written by a pastor to the elders...selling out in the secular world, easy to judge, but just as easy to fall into! And btw, your dinner conversations must have been very interesting growing up!
ReplyDeleteExcellent article. It is always difficult for a sceptic to accept the mixing of the heavenly and earthly realm, that's why we have been left the inspired Word of God. It is unfortunate that the same sun that melts the butter can also harden the clay. I saved this link to look at again as there seems to be a few topics growing out from one here.
