London Modes of Transportation

 Taxi and Bus

The Tube: Gets you almost anywhere!
And when those doors open, be sure to 'Mind The Gap.'
Just pay attention to the tube map on the wall, so you get off at the right spot.

 The amazing Tube Map
which, in many places, bears little resemblance to distance reality

 Tottenham Court Road Tube Station
Fun mosaics

The Escalator at Westminster Tube Station
Clean and tidy for the M.P.s

 Weary Cheeseheads
And you thought it was the cast of  'Fargo.'

Train at King's Cross Station

 Transporting us above London
The EYE

Our transportation to Greenwich

Outside Buckingham Palace Gates
Transporting the police from hither to yon

The Queen's Guard
Last but not least, the most dependable mode of transportation

Have a great weekend, everyone! :-)

  6. What a fun post! I am so looking forward to riding one of those double decker buses!

The tube station reminds me of "34 Charing Cross Road". Have you ever read it? There is a movie too.

(deleted previous comment as the spelling was horrible?!)

  7. Judy, love your photos (and the reference to Fargo)! I haven't been to London since The Eye, so haven't had that pleasure (or not). I don't think it would bother me, unless they pack too many people in a pod. Do you know how many they put in?

  8. The London Eye is NOT scary at all. It goes slowly enough so that it never has to stop to let people on and off as it makes its appx. 30 minute revolution. It's like standing in a glass living room with 24 other people - and completely roomy enough to move from one side to the other when you want to change views. I'd consider it a 'must-do' at least once.

What I can't get over are the first people who boarded the Ferris Wheel at the Columbia Exposition in Chicago in 1893! Now that would have been scary!

Yes, Heide, I have read 84 Charing Cross Road. Funny thing, I first wrote 64, then went back and saw that you had written 34. Then I looked it up to find that it is actually 84!! Good thing we weren't trying to find it, huh! LOL

  11. OOOO! The "EYE" looks fun! LOVED the Tube! Ah.....London......

P.S. Those eye-ball thingies were jellyfish, and they were a pain in the behind for a couple days down here! Despite the begging and pleading of r three girls, Daddy is making us leave early in the morning! :-( So not ready to go back to the cold!

  13. This is a fun post with an alternative slant on things making me realise that I've only used the boat and the tube. I do however recognise my train in Kings Cross that I need to run for. !!
