The Boys Are Back

Floating Rubber Duckies on the Pond

Using sticks and 'wind power' to get duckies to the other side of the pond. It's so much fun to have two of the grandsons here with us for a few days!

 Retrieval

I think this was just prior to...
falling in.

The pond is 3' deep at the center, so it was a very scary experience for this three year old.
Here he's happy to be wrapped up in a towel and snuggling up to Grandma.
...and yes, I love this!

Later, at the BP, getting the promised treats.
The 7 year old dug into this frozen malt, polished it off in no time, and then announced,
'We've gotta be on the move!'

I don't think the spoon helped, Grandpa.

I was surprised that the ice cream sandwich didn't knock him out. Talk about a sugar load!

So what's on the agenda for tomorrow? If it's not raining, then there will be more lawn mowing (they get turns sitting on the rider with the driver), maybe a little pruning (I think they can help me cut out the dead echinacea - for a minute or two), more strawberry plant transplanting (they already pulled the old popcorn stalks out of the garden), BB gun shooting, a trip to Chetek for dog treats and kid treats, a walk to the creek, and a camp fire.

That should take care of the forenoon. :-)
Hey, Gwamma, look what I found!
Shelling the last remaining ear of popcorn which he found in the garden.

Along with a few ears that were hanging in the basement...

Grandpa does make the best popcorn!

I may not get another blog post up or comments made until next week, and if I don't, I hope you'll understand, cuz I'm busy having fun with the grandsons. If I don't get a travel post up tomorrow, then it will be up the following Friday.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! We're going to be taking the boys home and attending their sister's ballet performance, then the next day attending a choral performance in which another sister is involved. It's a fun week for us!

  6. Oh my! Kevin did mention that Soren had fallen in the pond when he got home, but I was drifting in and out of sleep with Glenn... Both Lydia and Elisabeth have had that happen when they were about his age, and they still remember it to this day. So glad they are having a good time! Miss them here already.

    Love- Stacey

  11. What adorable little guys! I know all too well about falling into those ponds as I fell into my aunt's in all my Easter finery when I was about 4. Now, a millenium later, I still remember it with a smile. Enjoy those boys.
