The Glory of God
'God's great design in all His works is the manifestation of His own glory. Any aim less than this would be unworthy of Himself.
But how shall the glory of God be manifested to such fallen creatures as we are? Man's eye is not single in its focus; he always has a side glance toward his own honor, has too high an estimate of his own powers, and so is not qualified to behold the glory of the Lord. It is clear, then, that self must stand out of the way, that there may be room for God to be exalted. And this is the reason why He often brings His people into straits and difficulties, that, being made conscious of their own folly and weakness, they may be fitted to behold the majesty of God when He comes to work their deliverance.' Hi! And thanks for stopping in at Cranberry Morning. I love reading your comments and visiting your blogs. I am unable to respond to No-Reply bloggers, so please make sure to enable your email address on your blog. Also, many Google+ blogs don't allow me to comment because I'm not a member of Google+. So, I'm not deliberately avoiding you, but Google+ is not commenter friendly.
Love that!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. I'm finding that is true in several situations this week. I needed that!
ReplyDeleteInspirational. Too often we get wrapped up in smaller prayer issues that we forget the bigger picture at times. There are elements of this post that have affected me since the weekend, the process and answer is totally outside my control for maybe up to about 2 months or longer. In the meantime as I wait ... for God's decision, the result which ever way it goes including no answer at all .... I have ascertained will be for His glory and purposes.
ReplyDeleteI've often wrestled with the idea of God working for His own glory, and humans being so selfishly motivated. It's interesting to see both issues dealt with in the same passage. Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteWOW! You were inspired. I so needed that today! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteThe Pharisees rebuked Jesus for not quieting those who were shouting, "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!" He said, "I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out." The rocks bring glory to God. If our purpose in life is to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever, it seems we must recognize the great value of His glory being first and foremost.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Judy for that wonderful post! I will carry it with me today.
