Putting up the Christmas Tree

Our happy little 4' balsam

I decided to leave more seating space in the living room, so we got a short tree this year and set it on the window seat in the [former schoolroom] library. Once I had the lights strung, the grandsons did all the decorating. It was so much fun to have them here for the weekend!!!  It does their grandma's heart good to have them around.

The following photo represents a set of Christmas ornaments that refused to stay on the tree. Through no one's fault but their own, they ended up in the trash can.

 the casualties of hard work

When the first one dropped, it was kinda 'awww'. When the second one broke, we were laughing. I swear those things were suicidal!  I decided to keep broom and dust pan close by. What a silly idea to have glass balls on a tree anyway! The boys will be amused to know that when I came downstairs the following morning, there lay yet another smashed glass ball on the floor - due to the curiosity of Tuppence!

Me? Curious??

  1. What a cute little tree. I like that it is predominantly red, very pretty. Wee have broke four ornaments this year, which kind of is unusual. What is the matter with those little glass balls?!

  2. Happy Anniversary, a tad late, Judy! (You're only 4 years behind us....) Your Christmas tree looks great; we've not even started decorating here. Best get busy, eh?

  3. The boys did a good job of decorating. Every year I look at a box of glass ornaments that I have, but with the dogs, and little people, I will keep them safe for a while longer. Well, after a nap, I may just bake some cookies.

  4. They did a good job. Sadly I have no room for a tree. All the old family ornaments have gone down to my daughter's - but they still get used every year.

  8. David and I would have been extremely happy with your little tree instead of the monster one that I have in my living room right now. I love that your grands decorated it for you. I think it looks fantastic, Judy.

  10. The tree is wonderful! I love the tree decorators picture reading with grandpa last May. Thank you for your e-mails. I am sorry I did not get them sooner. My computer did not work for a while and I was not able to check on things. Now it is fixed and I am able to get on the computer each day. have a great night!

  11. We used to have some of those bulbs that would do that...every year they would break... When I had to get new ones, I opted for the plastic ones that looked like the glass ones...our faux bulbs just bounce now!

  12. Judy thank you so much for the Advent calendar! I got it up on the computer today and my daughter loves it! She can't wait to open it tomorrow. We went through the past days we missed and she kept saying "I wonder what we will see". It was so cute! Thank you so much! :)

  13. What a beautiful tree! And such a sweet photo of the boys with Grandpa ... :) I guess those ornaments just wanted to have an adventure, rather than merely sitting and looking out the window at the view ....

  14. Oooh.. the tree looks great Judy! And I must laugh, we had about 3 of our ornaments like that throw themselves from our tree too.. right onto the tile. lol

  15. What a lovely tree, the boys did a great job. I know you enjoy every minute that they are with you. Is all the family able to come home for Christmas? I hope you have a very Blessed Christmas. I love the advent calendar, my granddaughter Daisy loves doing it. I can't tell you how many times she's decorated the Christmas tree.

"please keep your needles to New Years Day" ... I love it, but maybe not quite high enough for Tuppence !
