Two weeks ago, my Anglophile Friday post was about a different Yew Tree Farm, (A on the map) not too far from this one (B on the map), both in the Lake District. That one was owned by Joe Relph and we discussed his Border Collies and watched a short video clip from a Nature program on PBS that showcased Mr. Relph and his working dogs in the Borrowdale Fells.
THIS Yew Tree Farm was owned by Beatrix Potter (as in 'Peter Rabbit' and 'Jeremy Fisher' and 'The Roly Poly Pudding' etc.) and is in the Coniston area.
From the website:
"Yew Tree Farm with its distinctive ‘spinning gallery’ is in the beautiful Lake District, in a stunning picturesque setting it is ideally located for all Lakeland activities. The Farm House was built in 1693 and is one of the most photographed farms in the North.THIS Yew Tree Farm was owned by Beatrix Potter (as in 'Peter Rabbit' and 'Jeremy Fisher' and 'The Roly Poly Pudding' etc.) and is in the Coniston area.
From the website:
Yew tree was owned by Beatrix Potter in the 1930s and is still home to many of her furnishings, Yew Tree farm featured as ‘Hill Top’ in the movie ‘Miss Potter’ starring Rene Zellweger.'
(Cranberry Morning says: Penelope Wilton once played Beatrix Potter in 'A Tale of Beatrix Potter,' which we watched in the '80s? It was very good, and I actually liked it a lot better than 'Miss Potter.')
'We offer luxurious historic guest accommodation in the Farmhouse, you can take a break from the modern world and step back in time. Yew Tree is a working family run farm so expect to be surrounded by animals and take advantage of the delicious home grown produce."
A Look inside Yew Tree Farm (YouTube)
Watch for these video lines: 'You can almost feel the history seeping out...'
and 'bad lighting.' (Could it have been much worse than what's there now??)
Anyway, it's a fun video, but I thought those two things were so amusing.

ReplyDeletei love all that stone in the first photo, so beautiful and it is a wonderful house. i am thinking she meant by bad lighting, that the electrical was bad and had to be replaced. it is truly a wonderful place.
ReplyDeleteJudy, Mr. Magpe and I enjoyed watching this film, and I adore Peter Rabbit. Thank you for taking us to England today. I would love to claim relation to Beatrix Potter because I have early Potter ancestry in America, but I don't know of a connection. Still, a girl can dream!
ReplyDeleteThat soap looks divine, and I would love to have it for me with all of those gentle ingredients. You are a marvel!
So glad to find another Anglophile. I keep looking at property in England and dreaming.
XO,
Sheila
I love Beatrix Potter stories. I really enjoyed my visit to her home. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful what a great place to visit!!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing a little snapshot of England here on Fridays : ) Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteLoved your post today. My first thought was that there is a Yew Tree Farm on Garway Hill in Herefordshire but it must be a very popular name all over England.
ReplyDeleteJudy, the soaps arrived, and she LOVED them! Thank you so much and for the lemon verbena, too. I asked her which was her favorite, and she can't decide. LOL She loves them all. She was just giddy!
ReplyDeleteI know I posted on here earlier, but I ust wanted to you to hear how excited she was. MyMIL could be an advertisement for your products. GREAT JOB!
XO,
Sheila
This place sits so prettily within the fells. I'm a great fan of BP - looking forward to rereading some of her tales to my granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post! I enjoyed it as usual!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Let's fill our England savings jar and take off!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh the photo is beautiful - the building and the fields. I love the stone in the building. They don't make things like they used to anymore do they?
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed the little video, absolutely beautiful and quite peaceful. Would love to spend some time in such a lovely place.

Magical place. You make this so interesting, pleased you added the Youtube clip too.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a road that I frequent very often, but it's on a difficult road bend of a busy road that you don't expect to see. One of these days I might capture it from the drive if I stay there. The scene is always spectacular particularly in the morning no matter how the light is.
