So there we were, driving east along the A61 on our way to Thirsk, when we came upon a yard full of red phone boxes in various states of decay. I couldn't believe it. I wanted to take them all with me and find loving homes for them - starting with mine.

ReplyDeleteI hate the fact that so many of those lovely phone boxes are being replaced by the grey metal and glass squares on a pole, but I guess that's progress. Lovely post for a Friday morning. I love Yorkshire.

ReplyDeleteThirk, one of my favorite places to visit. Have great pictures of the girls with James Wight (aka James Herriot) had a lovely visit with him in his office. We were able to visit him on two different trips.

It is a shame about the demise of the old red phone boxes. Not needed now as everyone has mobile phones.
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOSH THE PHONE BOX GRAVE YARD!!! SAY IT ISN'T SO!!!! :) I love phone boxes, I'd give them a good home. Sigh. How would I get one over here? How do you even move one? I've never been to this town that you have pictured, but it looks like a place I could just drink in!
