Movie Lines - 'Where there's a key...'

From My Junk Drawer

'Where there's a key, there must be a door
- and I intend to find it!'

- Mary from The Secret Garden

'Curtains and fountains of roses'

The Secret Garden was such a sweet movie. Our youngest daughter had nearly the entire script memorized when she was little. I remember the line, 'The moors are ugly,' Mary's assessment of the Yorkshire moors, after being moved from India when her parents were killed in a cholera epidemic. I won't make a comment on the Yorkshire moors, for I'd be happy to be in Yorkshire just about any time, although I must say that the moors aren't as pretty as the Dales, in my opinion.

All that to say that even today, when I see a skeleton key, especially, that movie pops into my mind and I hear Mary (and our little daughter) saying,

'Where there's a key, there must be a door, and I intend to find it!'

Isn't it odd how little things, like a skeleton key in a junk drawer, trigger memories like that!  How about you? What's your memory story? What's the movie line that pops into your head now and then?  Okay, here's one more of mine:

'Doctor Marvin! Doctor Leo Marvin!'

Anyone know what that's from?

Okay, your turn!

  6. Hi Judy,
I haven't seen the movie, but it sounds very interesting.
Hope it has gotten a little bit warmer over there. We thought we had spring coming on, but then the cold came over us again, a few flings of snow but that's about all. Enjoy the rest of your week.

    Hugs,
    Eva

  8. I believe the line comes from a Bill Murray movie. I love old skeleton keys, whenever I find them I snatch them up!!

  9. My sister and I have seen so many of the same movies and TV shows that we through quotes into our conversation all the time. Guess that says something about society, eh?

  13. I read The Secret Garden in third grade and adored it. The movie is sweet, too.

We quote movies around here a lot -especially Monty Python and "The Jerk":

"The new phone books are here! The new phone books are here!"

  15. I love skeleton keys. My mom had a ring of them when I was kid. It has since disappeared but I keep hoping they will show up one day.

  16. We love to quote lines from movies! And since we love to re-watch our favorites, we have a lot that we quote. I think we quote just about everything from Singing in the Rain (Your being wired for sound Dearie) to All Creatures Great and Small (Mr. Biggins do you or do you not want me to come see your cow?!)
