If you knew how visual I am, you'd just shake your head and walk away. I'm one of those people who would like to have every book with its front cover, rather than just the spine, facing out. Yes, it's highly impractical, for we have thousands of books and it's bad enough finding place for all of those. Imagine if our walls were covered in books. (I can imagine it; can you?)
And then there's my desk and any other place where I'm studying: If I'm sitting in the living room, there will be papers and books in a semi-circle around me on the floor. I need to see where stuff is!
And so it is with the cayenne, chives, peppermint, cilantro, orange peel, coriander, parsley, and other items I have dried and store on my counter top in these lovely old jars.
My problem with putting things away in closets is that it's so easy to forget I even own it. Talk about a First World Problem, I know!
Then again, if I put everything away in closets, I wouldn't be able to see that beautiful jar of red cayenne peppers sitting on my kitchen counter. How I would miss that!
Do you like stuff out where you can see it or behind closed doors? And if you want to give me a little pep talk about organization, feel free. I can take it. :-)

I like to have everything tucked away neatly out of sight....but then keep opening the doors to see everything neatly in the cupboard :)
ReplyDeleteIt's driving me crazy being surrounded by boxes at the moment!!
Hi. Sorry that I've been away so long and not visited. It's good to be back again and catching up with everybody!
ReplyDeleteI love having things where I can see and enjoy them. I'm a very visual person. I was at a lecture recently and used my mobile phone to take pictures of the notes put up on the board. I couldn't take it all in from just listening!!
I love your jars full of goodies and would love to do the same thing but just don't have enough room to have them all out on display!
You go for it girl!!
Joan
I am so with you on the book thing!! Chris laughed at me once when I told him I wished I could do that! lol If there is something wrong with being visual, I don't want to be right!! :)
ReplyDeletei love your visual photos, these are beautiful and i like those jars. i like things behind closed doors, do not like things on my counters. but i do want some things out, but only if they are pleasing to look at. i would love to have one of those roll down things that hides toaster ovens and coffee pots. i have a box of pills that sits by the sink and i hate it there, but if i put it in the cabinet we don't take our pills, out of sight out of mind so alot of things are out that were not when i still had my mind.
ReplyDeleteI agree!! Your jars look beautiful so keep them out and enjoy them!!
ReplyDeleteYou and me sister - I wondered if any one is like me - I leave stuff out too - I need to see what I have. I try to put them in nice things too - I love it! sandie
ReplyDeleteI love to keep the counters as clear as possible, but I'm always willing to have something as decorative as your vintage jars on view.
ReplyDeleteI am *definitely* a visual person. Everything that comes home from the store is mercilessly ripped, poured, squeezed, shaken out of its packaging and dumped into a pretty glass jar. We have lots and lots of jars lining our pantry shelves, the door of which we keep open all the time so we can see our glorious food its many sparkling containers. :)
ReplyDeleteYep, that's me. I like organization, but I want to see things, and I also end up with multiple whatevers because I forget I already have one (or six). So what I end up with is clutter.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, when we put stuff away, we forget about it! Out of sight, out of mind.
ReplyDeleteYour jars are visually stimulating. I'm sure it makes you happy to see them all on display.
I am definitely a visual person and if I can't see it I might as well not have it :)
ReplyDeleteLaura
All I can say to this post is that I actually have CLOTHES in my closets that still have the tags on them because I completely forget I bought them!
ReplyDeleteSo yes I need to see things too - wonder if I should hang things all over the walls in the bedroom - wonder what John's response to that would be LOL
Your jars look so pretty - that it would be a shame to hide them!

It is hard to remember what you have without clear containers and yours are so cute. I like that food decorates too.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes. I am a visual person and like to see what I have around me. But it seems to end up as clutter.
ReplyDeleteWell, if my stuff looked as pretty/inviting as yours, I'd keep it out. What a great idea! Now I'm going to be looking for old jars.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. I'm such a visual person. Pretty jar containers --yes!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I agree about the book thing. There is so much to see and not enough space to display it all!
ReplyDeleteEvery thing looks nice in the jars. The front of the books would be way easy to read. :):) xo,Susie
ReplyDeleteI like to have everything I love out.
ReplyDeleteEspecially beautiful blue jars filled.
LOVE!
Woolie Hugs
I must be an out where I can see it person, lol ! I just looked around and it was obvious, and I know it is the same way in my office :)
ReplyDeleteFor the most part, I like all the counters as clear as possible. Then I like to add one of two things like these jars filled with something interesting. Thank you for sharing at TTF! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am like you Judy, out of sight out of mind. I forget I own it. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour photos are amazing!!
Nice idea with the jars! I'm like you. In closets, I forget about stuff. Which reminds me, closets around here are DEFINITELY due for some spring cleaning! Thanks! Saw your post on Diann's blog. Susan
ReplyDeleteI really love the look of that. I saw a great idea the other day. The took pint jars, and nailed the lids to the ceiling. Then filled the jars with spices. So all the jars hung from the ceiling. Very cool. I want to do that with beads.
ReplyDeleteIf I had a huge pantry, everything would be put away behind the door and my counters would shine. As it is, I have no storage space, so my kitchen is a little too visual! LOL I can imagine how beautiful yours is, though, with your beautiful vintage jars, filled with colorful herbs and spices!!
ReplyDeleteI am an out on the counter type of girl. I love open shelves in my kitchen too. I would rather display the things I love instead of stowing them away. You have a wonderful collection of vintage Ball Jars!
ReplyDeleteBig Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
I am another member of the "Visual Club". I think our eyes need lots of visual interest so they can stop and linger every now and then. A blank space is just that, blank. I love the vintage jars. I have a few of my great-grandmothers sitting in my laundry room window sill. They catch lovely light! I am a new follower and am inviting you over to Still Woods Farmhouse for a visit!
ReplyDeleteI must be a little of each! Ambidextrous in a way. As my father aged, it was necessary for him to file things all about his study floor. It drove my mother CRAZY! My mother always had the perfect place for everything. This worked because she was a person who wanted only a few very beautiful items surrounding her.
ReplyDeleteMy house? Every horizontal surface covered and every drawer a disaster! The gardens are organized, and that is what is important to me.
Some things I like to see displayed and others I am quite happy storing away behind closed doors.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining in this week.
xo

I'm a visual person too. Love to see things displayed so I can enjoy them from day to day. Pretty jars full of color!
ReplyDeleteHi Judy, nice to meet you! I'm visiting from your link on Claudia's blog. I see you live in Wisconsin - I'm in northern IL, close to the WI border. I'm a visual person too, and like things out where I can see them. But I also like to be organized, so sometimes the two kind of clash, lol.
ReplyDeleteI am very visual and LOVE LOVE LOVE the look for these gorgeous jars and herbs! Thanks for sharing and tons of hugs!
ReplyDeleteI am very visual but I also don't like clutter (it's jars my visual stability, ha!). So I like to use clear containers for everything in the closets and cupboards. I can open the doors and see what's what. Works well for me. Fun subject!

I am obsessive about colors so if i can display things in jars that are pleasing to the eye, I do. I hide everything else in boxes, bins and cabinets. My books have to be lined up by size with the spines showing and I prefer them to be lying down instead of standing upright. Loved your jars!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the items! Your jars look simply beautiful and so happy you shared them with us! Hope to see you tomorrow! hugs...
