Kids!

Henry, eating a 'pockle'
This is the grandchild we haven't seen since August of last year. :-(

Our daughter attached the above photo to a phone text yesterday. The text read, "Carrot and apple juice popsicles are a hit!

[Henry had said,] 'Orange pockles are sooooooooooooooo nummmmmmmmmmmy!!'"

I returned her text with, 'Good for you! (He looks like an angel.)'

Then, I got a second text: "'Two seconds later, upon finding a few errant shreds of carrot in it,

[Henry had said,] 'Oh no! This pockle is really yukky!'"

Hahahahahaha... Oh, the best laid plans...

The good news:  We're hoping to see this little guy (and his parents) really soon! :-)

Just wanted to say thank you to all of you who sent such thoughtful and caring wishes about Bridger.

It seems there's only one somebody who isn't the least bit sad that he is gone:

That would be:  TUPPENCE - who is happy to suddenly be able to spend evenings in the living room with us. It did take her a couple days to fully trust that Bridger wasn't waiting around some corner. :-) Let's just say, they weren't the best of friends.

  1. That's a funny popsickle story. She couldn't quite disguise the carrot well enough for such a young detective!

  2. On yeah, kids can find the healthy tidbits and reject it right away. Haha!

Still thinking about you and hoping you find peace in your time of loss. Looks like kitty is beginning to do so.

  5. Judy!

He's a doll. Love how good it was before he found out about the carrots. LOL

And I'm so sorry about your other baby. How did I miss this???? I'm glad that you have Tuppence as it seems that he is a real love. Still, the ones we lose are a heartache. I know. I think of mine often.

    XO,

    Sheila

  18. A wonderful story about the popsicles! We (family) still refer to vinegar as bingely, which is what my youngest sister called it! Hope it sticks!!

Cats deal with loss in ways similar to people, at least that has been our experience. And when a dominant soul is gone, it allows the less dominant ones to come into their own. Tuppence is so pretty - and so are you!!

  19. It will be great for you to spend time with Henry. What a cutie.

  20. Awwww your grandson is very cute.
I'm happy you are having a cuddle with Tuppence, it's very comforting for you. As "old" as I am I will admit I found comfort from cuddling a soft toy when I lost my Amber.
Glad that Tuppence feels safe now.

  22. Oh Judy, I just got back from my trip and just read about Bridger - I am sooooo sorry to hear of your loss. I wish I could give you a big hug right now!

As for Henry.. Oh my goodness he is such a doll. And I might react the same way to finding shreds of carrots in my popsicle!! lol

  23. I think that deep in kitties heart there is a sadness. Cats are just trained not to show it.

  24. Hi. I am reluctant to provide yet another opinion on cat food, but... I bought a cat from the SPCA a few years ago. A big black cat. We bonded right away. Any way, Toby, as I found out had a few health problems that needed attention. A few rotten teeth that were removed, crystals that blocked the ureter from the bladder and later I found out that he was diabetic. He lived to eat. and found a few friendly neighbours that fed him a little bit. He was overweight, so was fed Hill's Science Diet wieght control. He received little bits of insulin until one day I found him unconscious-hypoglycemic. He was resusitated at the vet's and that was the end of insulin. This is the important part: As luck would have it, I found out about "raw food", but in order for it to have all of the necessary nutrients, etc. I purchased, on-line, a powdered supplement from FELINE FUTURES on Salt Spring Island, B.C. Raw ground chicken or turkey would have been the best meat, but prohibitively expensive, so extra lean beef and occasionally, organic raw beef, was used in certain proportions to the FF powder. We never looked back, healthwise. He lost a goodly amount of weight, his fir was healthier, and no more kidney/bladder problems and no signs of diabetes. I don't know if this is good for every cat, but Toby thrived. And I believe that FELINE FUTURES is responsible for his gaining his health back. Lastly, I cannot say that his was more expensive that the vet-purchased food, but it was certainly healthier. I email FELINE FUTURES with this wonderful result. I would recommend them to anyone.
