John Deere, Monster Farm Equipment

Last week we were fascinated with the huge farm equipment that's used by our neighbor to plant his beans and corn. The grandsons, their dad, Grandpa and I watched for a long time, unable to pull ourselves away. I had to get my camera, but still the camera doesn't really capture the immensity of the machinery that's used these days.

What a monster!

Bet they'd have a hard time going back to a Farmall A.

  2. I was going to say the same thing Samantha said lol - the driver looks like a peanut!!!
When you think of how things were once done it's just mind blowing really!

  6. That photo of the boys is priceless! I'm thinking it was a hug and then turned into a wresting match.

  7. Love the tussle in the alfalfa field! That equipment IS huge. They get a lot done in half the time with monsters like that, but the cost is immense. They have to think long and hard before taking out a loan for one of those babies.

Have a good week, Judy! Hope you are rested after your week of VBS! Rewarding but I can only imagine how tired you must be!

  8. Those machines just seem to get bigger and bigger as the years go on.. pretty soon farmers will be able to plant in one swoop through the field! lol

  10. How interesting to watch. I would find it hard to pull away. The last picture tops it all though! How sweet. Have they gone back home now? I'm guessing you may be a bit tired from all the doings last week!

  12. Oh, I remember how much Jeremy adored watching construction and farm equipment! We'd pack lunch and then just go sit and watch ... when he was 2, he could name every piece. I miss that ....

  13. You're right-- you can't appreciate the size of those until you see them in person!

  14. that hugging photo is priceless.. and those are really really big machines... not like the horse drawn plows and daddy's push plow he used...

  17. Hi Judy,
I know what you are saying...monsters! Nothing like what I grew up with. :-)

We saw a track tractor the other day. That was fascinating to watch.

  18. That's the kind of equipment we see around here too. So much easier to keep the rows straight with the GPS that they have. I still like the little old tractors though.
Sweet photo of the brotherly hug!

  22. How much do you think a piece of equipment like that would cost? Amazing how big it is - they must be real serious farmers. Are you?

  25. Right up my alley, Judy. Yes, I am amazed at how elaborate and HUGE tractors and implements are now. Truly a sight to see.

  26. We love watching the farm equipment! They are clearing the field behind our house. It's fun to watch...although we aren't crazy about it being full of houses and construction in the near future.

  27. I was left wondering where equipment like that is stored. It needs a lot of space & possibly problems manoeuvring it. Well captured tussling shot.
