Did Someone Say Spring?

View from Living Room Windows

That photo was taken February 24, but honestly, except for the fact that the trees aren't frosty, it doesn't look any different today.

No, that's not a nest. It's a leftover dead petunia, but the Junco looks hopeful.
or confused.

last week

BUT

Eventually my plants will be able to move back outdoors. I can't wait. We're supposed to get to the mid-40s by the weekend, so that's a good sign (that maybe in a couple months+ my plants can be out in the fresh air again.)

Do I sound cranky?? I'm not feeling cranky at all, actually, because there's something about the sun this time of year, even when we're sitting here with huge snowbanks and cold temps, that feels different. Of course we've gone from about 8 hours of sunlight in December to 12 hours of sunlight now, and will have about 16 hours of sunlight in June. So you can see why it is we get excited with every passing day that brings us additional sunlight.

We love sunlight. It's what brings us out of our hibernation. And our seasonal affective disorder can be put away until late fall.

From MayoClinic.org:

'Treatment for seasonal affective disorder includes light therapy.'

See?

 Tuppence, getting her light therapy

I hope you all get lots of sunlight today!

  1. love that sunbather... and that is the way we feel, no matter what the weather does, if the sun is shining it feels better... makes things prettier and brings on feelings of joy and contentment, just like the sun bathing beauty.

  2. hi. Judy. Still love the snap scenes with birds although I can imagine when it has been around for so long you are getting a bit tired of it however the sun is there to cheer us up always. love Tuppence in the sun shot.

  3. Your cat is simply precious and I could be tempted to do the same thing in the sunshine :)

We had a little snowstorm come through on Saturday, but thankfully the snow has melted. I am looking forward to the flowers blooming and the grass turning green after such a long winter here in the Rockies. Hopefully Spring arrives soon for you :)

    Happy Monday!

  4. Ha Ha Tuppence is a smart kitty--looking so cozy. Maybe with the extra sunlight your snow will have a better chance of melting. :-)

  5. I can't believe how much snow melted last week in our area with warmer temps and the sun shining. Like to see the snow melt but dislike the soggy mess that lurks under the melted snow. The cat looks very comfy sleeping in the sunlight.

  6. Oh my, I want to curl up on a comfy step and sleep in the sun, just like your sweet kitty!!

That snow bank will be with you for awhile yet, unfortunately! I just can't imagine that much snow, anymore. Wishing you warmer temps and lots of sunshine, Judy!

  7. Nothing feel better right now than to see the sun shining does it! Your kitty knows how to lap it up! The snowbanks in your area look like ours. It was getting very difficult to pull out on the street because the snowbanks were getting too high. Well spring may have arrived by the calendar, but obviously not at homes just yet!

But goodness - all that snow you have!! It's going to be awhile for you!! The days sure are nice though!!

  10. I know what you mean about the sun. It comes in at a different angle, it feels warmer, it has a Spring like quality to it. Maybe only us dwellers of the northern climes are connoisseurs of sunlight! It sure gives me spring fever!

Snow in the forecast for this week here!

  11. That sunlit kitty says it all!

I love April. It is my favorite month of the year! God is gGod, and sunlight is, too!

I have taken to stretching like a kitty when I wake up. It helps!

  14. I am sitting in the sun right now and it does warm up the room nicely. I am amazed how similar our corners are with regard to snow. It has got to go someday!

  15. I love your attitude! Why not enjoy that sunshine, right? Your pretty kitty sure is! After 75 degree temps on Saturday, we are again in the 40's here today after a chilly rainy yesterday. We will be in 60's again by the weekend. No doubt, this summer I will be complaining about the heat!

  16. Kitties sure seek out the sun, don't they? It has been sunnier here too, but not much warmer yet.

  17. Hi Judy...Ohhhhh, you still have lots of snow in Wisconsin! Well, same story here in western Mass. But warmer temps will get here eventually.

You know what? Your Tuppence looks almost exactly like my Honey Cat except Honey has markings on her nose. Maybe they are cousins! So adorable.

Hope your Monday is going well. Susan p.s. Thanks for all your visits.

  18. I hope you thaw out soon! If it makes you feel any better, it's chilly today in Georgia. Only going to get into the 50's today. I know that probably sounds warm to you but we should be a lot warmer by now. And it's going down to freezing tonight!!! I'm ready for summer!

  19. Hi Judy, I totally understand about wanting more sunshine! We had snow on Sat. and then today(even though it wasn't in the forecast). I'm so ready for warmth and no cold.
    Have a great day.

  21. Sunshine makes me happy and I definitely get a good dose living in the Sunshine State. I actually got a little sunburn on my neck on our hike yesterday. I'm glad the days are longer and hope the sun shines in your house today to bring you cheer! Sweet hugs!

  22. Girl I have to say those snowbanks are huge. I don't think I have ever seen ones that big.

Glad you kitty is getting a sun bath.

  24. Judy, It may be snowy outside, but in your heart it is Spring. I love the flower picture. The little birds, some times I just want to cry. We feed all kinds of birds around here. Some corn for the squirrels too. Hope you get to see the ground soon. xoxo,Susie

  25. The boys and I read sitting in the South patio window of our house. It feels so good. Indoor sunbathing we call it. Sam even rolled up his jeans the other day and laid on the floor.

  26. I guess you don't have to feel guilty about not working out in the garden? Our cats do the same thing, seeking out the sunshine. When I came inside this afternoon, Ginger was lounging in the sun on the kitchen table! The nerve! I don't know what's gotten into her???

  27. I love all your beautiful photos....and your kitty looks so comfy on the steps.

  28. Yes, Yes, Judy- someone DID say Spring but apparently it doesn't apply to anyone in Wisconsin. I can't believe it an we are getting more snow tonight. It is just crazy!!!! Great pictures but I would rather be seeing tulips and daffodils-xo Diana

  29. Some how it says spring but it hasn't seem to have shown up in many areas. It is still cold here in NJ and there is snow on the ground, sigh. Beautiful pictures though b ut I feel you r pain.

  30. Wonderful and hopeful post, Judy. Your surroundings look very similar to ours including the huge snowbanks, which will be even bigger after tomorrow's storm. The pic of your cat in the sun is so sweet. I'd lay there for some sun too!

  31. I like your positive way of thinking :-) not sure of we will see the sun over here today, grey skies. But that can of coirsr change quick as it always does here. Beautiful pictures really,
    Have a great day

  32. Well, spring is here in Brittany, it's sunny most days, but weirdly enough, it's colder than it was in February! Enjoy the sun with your cat... It's good for Vitamin D!
