Family Pics and Wisconsin Springtime

I've not been getting much done, including visiting blogs or working around the house or ANYthing. Both Kevin and I came down with horrid headcolds/influenza late last week and although we're on the mend now, that is nasty stuff. I hope you all manage to avoid it.

My daughter sent me more pics of their new little one, Lucy, born last Saturday, so I'm putting some of these into a collage. The bottom right pic is of the whole little fam. The bottom left is of the older brother, at home with his other grandma, suffering through the separation from his mom - NOT. Happily, it looks like he's doing great. It's one of those things that's wonderful for mom and yet always a bit sad at the same time. The pic on the upper right of the collage was taken yesterday, Lucy taking a good look at her mom.

On another note,

Springtime has arrived in NW Wisconsin. Take a look at some of the lovely photos of our dirty snow, that I took yesterday. I never could figure out why my mom loved springtime. I always associate springtime with  dirty snow, mud, and slush. Summer and Fall are the seasons for me, although I suppose that might be quite a bit different if I lived farther south.

 I'm melting, I'm melting!!

Ah! There's my poor little German Shepherd
which I forgot to take in last fall. He was covered in snow until yesterday!
(Don't send this photo to the ASPCA)

I have no excuse for this - I just happen to like that old sign
and placed it to the left of our back door.

BUT, a wonderful sign of spring:

My flowering crab apple tree was FULL of robins,
all busily eating away and singing their little birdie hearts out!

I can't wait until it's warm enough so that the windows can be open.
Then no one can sleep after 4:30 AM because of the loud LOUD chatter of the birds.

Now, THAT I truly love!!

  3. Ha! Now if only I had a pretty new baby in the family named Lucy, we'd have been thinking alike this morning. That photo of the dog is priceless!

But back to the lovely...what a precious new family. How sweet that big brother is taking such a gentle interest in his new sister and, oh my, could she be any more darling? I think not!

  19. Beautiful baby/family pictures. Glad you are feeling better--take care of yourselves and go slow. Our snow doesn't last long enough to get dirty (well it did this year for a day or so and I noticed the dirty snow and it took me right back to my childhood up north)--I hate dirty snow but what can you do about it! Melt!

  21. Hi Judy,
I love your photos of the family. So sweet.
I am so happy Spring as arrived. I too will be happy when late Spring arrives. When things are dried up ... it is hard for the boys to play outside. Well you know what I mean, mud, slush, dirty snow, ice..... :-)

  22. So sorry to hear that you haven't been well, I know what you mean as I have had something similar and I am just catching up again now. My blog has suffered I think! I am so pleased that the snow is gradually melting and your picnic table is on show again. Take care xx

  23. Judy, Lucy is absolutely adorable, and I love, love, love the picture of her and her brother - first photo in your blog.

So sorry to hear you and hubs have been so sick. That melting snow will hopefully melt away the nasty bug, too. When you have that much snow, it seems to take forever for it to melt and go away.

Take care & feel better!! Please keep sharing the Lucy photos!! :)

  24. Your new grand-daughter is so sweet!! She is so cute and has such bright eyes. I enjoyed all of your pictures. I always enjoy snow photos since I hardly ever see snow in real life, and yours are so pretty.
Thank you for your kind comment on my blog also. It was such a joy to read, and made me smile and laugh at what you said as well ;)

    Blessings!
    Have a great day,

  25. Sweet photos of your family and new baby Lucy. I'm sure you are excited to see them all soon. Nice to see the snow melting and I forgot about all the dirt from the bird feeders and trees that will be under or on top of it all as it melts down. Ugh. I get to rake all that stuff up. We will have a lot of branches to clean up this year as our trees get older and lose many during the winds and storms. I hope you two are on the mend. Take care. Pam

  26. Ah! Sights and sounds of spring. Dirty snow or not, you can't deny that the thought of spring makes one sing like those little birdies. Warmer temps... YAY!

  27. Those pics of your grands are absolutely adorable. Glad to hear the snow is starting to melt. Do you think its safe to come home on the 17th. That's when we anticipate getting back!!

  28. Judy- That little Lucy is just beautiful. That was always my nickname for Granddaughter #2-until she asked- Can't you remember my REAL name? lol YOUR Lucy has a very
wise look for a newborn. Baby's Mama looks beautiful!!!
Hope you are better soon. I swear this Mucinex Severe Cold/Flu max is the best thing ever-the pharmacist said it was the best on the market...pricey but so worth it- I was sicker than a dog ad 24 hours on this stuff I felt at least 60% better. Nasty stuff that is going around this year. UGH- xo Diana

I'm besotted with new born babies - I think it's their helplessness and vulnerability.
