Antique Wicker Baby Buggy and its Cat, Hodgepodge Wednesday

I walked into the Yorkshire Room (it's one of our bedrooms, named for all the photos of Yorkshire on the walls) one day, and there lay Tuppence, all snuggled up on the brand new fluffy fleece that was in the baby buggy.

'Thanks! You knew just what I wanted!'

I had thought about selling that antique wicker baby buggy, or at least to see what I could get for it, so I had done a little online research. It was made in Leominster, MA. If someone in the area wanted to pick it up and pay a decent price, I would probably have sold it. It's not like I had a use for it...until now.

All of the sudden, after years of paying no attention to the baby buggy, Tuppence has claimed it as her own and it has become her favorite place for her morning nap.

It provides a soft, snuggly, sunny, snoozing spot. I hope she appreciates it.

Calling Curfew

This cat knows when it's my usual bedtime and gets very impatient for me to get upstairs! Now see? She doesn't look nearly as sweet in this photo, does she! But she is a nice kitty.

And now for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.
This was a difficult one for me, starting with the 'mayhem' question.

1. It's still May, right? When were you last in the middle of something that might be described as mayhem?

I love my garden to look like this, above. Right now, after not being able to do much for the past couple years and then having the hip thing (as in replacement, not as in cool), and after a long long winter, my garden is the best example of mayhem that I can come up with at the moment (except for real mayhem which I hear about on the news, but whose photos I doubt you want to see here.)

2. When did you last feel dismayed?

I was dismayed that it took three weeks for NBC, CBS, ABC, etc. to decide they were outraged enough to cover the story of the kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls, held captive by murderous terrorists.. No kidding, we had learned of this three weeks earlier from other news sources. What took them so long?

3. What's a food combination you like, but other people may find strange?

Green olives and peanuts. Any olives and peanuts. Any olives and nothing.

4. "It is never too late to be what you might have been." Do you think that's true? Why or why not?

We were created to bring glory to God and to enjoy and delight in Him forever. We can continue down our own path, or we can follow Jesus. Those are really the only two choices. Our own path leaves us continually struggling to find purpose in our lives.. It is not too late to turn from ourselves and to turn to the Savior, who is eager to forgive our entire past and give us a new identity in Christ along with purpose, freedom, life, hope, and joy, When we put our trust in Him, no matter what life hands us, we know that He walks with us and will see us through. Only then can we be what we were meant to be.

5. US News and World Report listed the best historic destinations in the US as follows-Washington D.C, Philadelphia PA, Williamsburg VA, Charleston SC, Boston MA, Richmnd VA, Savannah, GA, Santa Fe NM, Yellowstone, San Antonio TX, San Francisco CA, New Orleans LA, and Charlottesville VA.

Of those listed how many have you seen in person? Which two sites on the list would you most like to see in person?

Been to Philadelphia, Boston, San Francisco. I would always choose to return to Boston, way ahead of the others.

6. May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. If you had to participate in a single fitness activity for the next half hour, which activity would you choose?

Due to the wonderful cortisone shot I got in my knee yesterday, I would participate in walking without limping. Is that a fitness activity??

7. What did you like best about the city, town, or neighborhood where you grew up?

I LOVED the country neighborhood where I grew up. I wish I had some photos of the neighbor kids and me riding horse, building forts, swimming in the bloodsucker-infested swimming hole, floating on rafts we built, and launching ourselves across the creek with saplings. But I don't. Anyway, parents never had to worry about their kids, we were out and about when we wanted to be (with approval, of course - at least I'm pretty sure we had approval). It's unfortunate that this is not true of our American society today.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. 

My random thought today involves one of our daughters and SIL who just arrived in Rome. She sent me a photo (below) of the view from their hotel hallway window.  I told her that I'd probably just stay in the hallway and open the window. Take a look at that crowd! And take a look at their view!

Fantastic view, huh!

One more random thought. I got this photo (below) from our other daughter a couple days ago. They were waiting out a storm in the hallway, and as she captioned the photo: camping out in the hallway.

Hopefully they'll be moving out of there and closer to us in the near future!
