I walked into the Yorkshire Room (it's one of our bedrooms, named for all the photos of Yorkshire on the walls) one day, and there lay Tuppence, all snuggled up on the brand new fluffy fleece that was in the baby buggy.
'Thanks! You knew just what I wanted!'
All of the sudden, after years of paying no attention to the baby buggy, Tuppence has claimed it as her own and it has become her favorite place for her morning nap.
It provides a soft, snuggly, sunny, snoozing spot. I hope she appreciates it.
Calling Curfew
This cat knows when it's my usual bedtime and gets very impatient for me to get upstairs! Now see? She doesn't look nearly as sweet in this photo, does she! But she is a nice kitty.

And now for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.
This was a difficult one for me, starting with the 'mayhem' question.
But thanks to Joyce for her work in putting it together for us.

And now for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.
This was a difficult one for me, starting with the 'mayhem' question.
But thanks to Joyce for her work in putting it together for us.
Click on the button below to join us!
1. It's still May, right? When were you last in the middle of something that might be described as mayhem?
I love my garden to look like this, above. Right now, after not being able to do much for the past couple years and then having the hip thing (as in replacement, not as in cool), and after a long long winter, my garden is the best example of mayhem that I can come up with at the moment (except for real mayhem which I hear about on the news, but whose photos I doubt you want to see here.)
2. When did you last feel dismayed?
via UK Telegraph
I was dismayed that it took three weeks for NBC, CBS, ABC, etc. to decide they were outraged enough to cover the story of the kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls, held captive by murderous terrorists.. No kidding, we had learned of this three weeks earlier from other news sources. What took them so long?
3. What's a food combination you like, but other people may find strange?
Green olives and peanuts. Any olives and peanuts. Any olives and nothing.
4. "It is never too late to be what you might have been." Do you think that's true? Why or why not?
We were created to bring glory to God and to enjoy and delight in Him forever. We can continue down our own path, or we can follow Jesus. Those are really the only two choices. Our own path leaves us continually struggling to find purpose in our lives.. It is not too late to turn from ourselves and to turn to the Savior, who is eager to forgive our entire past and give us a new identity in Christ along with purpose, freedom, life, hope, and joy, When we put our trust in Him, no matter what life hands us, we know that He walks with us and will see us through. Only then can we be what we were meant to be.
“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen:
not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” - C.S. Lewis
5. US News and World Report listed the best historic destinations in the US as follows-Washington D.C, Philadelphia PA, Williamsburg VA, Charleston SC, Boston MA, Richmnd VA, Savannah, GA, Santa Fe NM, Yellowstone, San Antonio TX, San Francisco CA, New Orleans LA, and Charlottesville VA.
Of those listed how many have you seen in person? Which two sites on the list would you most like to see in person?
Been to Philadelphia, Boston, San Francisco. I would always choose to return to Boston, way ahead of the others.
6. May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. If you had to participate in a single fitness activity for the next half hour, which activity would you choose?
Due to the wonderful cortisone shot I got in my knee yesterday, I would participate in walking without limping. Is that a fitness activity??
7. What did you like best about the city, town, or neighborhood where you grew up?
I LOVED the country neighborhood where I grew up. I wish I had some photos of the neighbor kids and me riding horse, building forts, swimming in the bloodsucker-infested swimming hole, floating on rafts we built, and launching ourselves across the creek with saplings. But I don't. Anyway, parents never had to worry about their kids, we were out and about when we wanted to be (with approval, of course - at least I'm pretty sure we had approval). It's unfortunate that this is not true of our American society today.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
My random thought today involves one of our daughters and SIL who just arrived in Rome. She sent me a photo (below) of the view from their hotel hallway window. I told her that I'd probably just stay in the hallway and open the window. Take a look at that crowd! And take a look at their view!
Fantastic view, huh!
One more random thought. I got this photo (below) from our other daughter a couple days ago. They were waiting out a storm in the hallway, and as she captioned the photo: camping out in the hallway.
Camping out in the hallway, waiting out a storm
(no basement to go to)
Hopefully they'll be moving out of there and closer to us in the near future!

Aww, the cat in the baby buggy is so cute.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures of your sweet cat enjoying the buggy! She is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat last photo of the grandchildren is adorable.
Hope you have a nice day.
We hope to move early next week - finally!
That is a perfect spot for a nap!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Your kitty is just too cute! I LOVE those photos. =) And what a gorgeous picture from Rome. What a treat for the eyes. Loved your post today. Blessings and Sunshine, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI posted awhile back about my mom's doll buggy-- our cat years ago liked to sleep in that too. And I've seen that look on a cat's face too-- "You come now!"
ReplyDeleteMorning, oh how sweet the kitty in the beautiful old buggy, love. Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteLOVED the kitty and the baby carriage. So, so sweet. And the last image ...grandkids, one of life's greatest pleasures.
ReplyDeleteYep, the Hodgepodge was a challenge this week, but you did good.
You and me both....love me some olives. Either kind.
And your #7...it's a shame kids today can't feel as free from harm as we were 'back then'.
You cat baby is so cute in the buggy. :):) The other babies are sweet too. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteSo, so sweet is that cat in the buggy and those babies in the hall camping. And I would take that view on a vacation any day to stay out of all those people! Geez! The gardener is a looker also. :)
ReplyDeleteLol about the olives! I was cleaning out the refrigerator the other day and came across a half a jar of green olives. I finished off the jar while I was working on the fridge!
ReplyDeleteTuppence is adorable in the baby buggy!
Judy- Glad to be back visiting your blog. I loved all your random thoughts and that picture of the kids "camping" is just darling.
ReplyDeleteDid you have a Pranges in your area? The one in Green Bay had a restaurant on the top floor and they served an olive nut sandwich. Hubby's grandmother used to go there and they gave her this recipe. If you like olives and nuts you will love it!
Olive Nut Cream Cheese Tea Sandwiches
12 oz. whipped cream cheese
2 Tbsp. mayonnaise
1 cup chopped salad olives (the sliced green olives with pimientos)
1 cup chopped peanuts or walnuts or pecans
2 Tbsp. olive juice
Mix together all ingredients. Generously spread on bread slices with crust removed. Cut each sandwich into four squares or triangles.
Enjoy! xo Diana ps. Hope you are able to get out and about this year and enjoy your gardens.
Oh- I forgot to add- I have a wicker baby buggy just like that but I need to put a new liner in it.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. Tuppence in the baby buggy is absolutely adorable! (So "cat," isn't it, to suddenly find a new napping place, to nap there for months, and then, just as suddenly, to choose a new spot?) I also recognize the "I'm ready for bed" look. Our cat runs upstairs when our daughter heads to bed.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your hodgepodge again. Your answer to #4 is spot on. Glad your cortisone shot has you feeling like walking. (Sounds good to me. Unlike my husband, I would probably fall apart if I tried to jump rope.)
Those are some cute campers, although I am sorry that they were waiting out a storm.
You take such beautiful photos and I always enjoy seeing them! Yes, walking is definitely a kind of fitness! Wow, that is some kind of view that your daughter and SIL get to enjoy...how lucky they are!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry that the weather has required waiting in the hallway, but cuter children could not be found.
ReplyDeleteBoston? Now that surprised me.
Hope that your health allows you to do a little gardening, if you'd like. Personally, a raised bed makes it a lot easier for me, but I am not growing the size of garden that you have.
Aww, what a cute buggy and holding your kitty, just too adorable! Like your random thoughts, all great! Great post!
ReplyDeleteClearly Tuppence and the buggy are perfect for each other!
ReplyDeleteSeems scary to have to camp out in the hall while a storm is going on but you'd never know it from that sweet photo! :)
I relate to so much in this charming post! I have a doll baby buggy very similar to yours. It is in the basement now, but I should bring it up so one of my kitties can adopt it as his/her own. I think if you (dared!) to sell it you'd get a very good price for it from a doll collector.
ReplyDeleteI also lament the fact that kids can no longer be sent out to play in the neighborhood like we once were.
And those two grandbabies of yours - oh my! PRECIOUS!
loved your cute baby buggy occupant! i spent a lot of time w/ my sis in a bloodsucker-infested creek as a kid. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely Baby buggie! When we lived in Germany, I bought a second hand one like this, but cloth, not wicker. Loved it and took it everywhere!! You need the large wheels with all the cobble roads and uneven sidewalks. I think I'd keep it for the kittie!!
ReplyDeleteI love the sweet photo of your little campers and so glad they stayed safe from the storm! The pretty kitty in the buggy is just adorable, too.
ReplyDeleteLoved reading your Hodgepodge answers. I had a very similar country experience as you, except there weren't many kids to play with other than my brothers in summer. I quite agree with No. 4, too.
Great post!
The cat in the buggy is worth keeping it. Could you also photograph the grand babies in the baby buggy?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your answers to the questions. I always enjoy reading your thoughts. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the photo from Rome.
And that cat is so sweet! :-)
Have a great Wednesday.
Carla
The baby carriage is so beautiful, I love it! The government dismays me everyday. Glad your shot helped. OMG, that is an amazing view. Hope they have a wonderful trip. Also a very sweet photo of the children.
ReplyDeleteI also would love to go back to Boston! Washington DC too! I loved the east coast. I am going to NYC in a few weeks, im excited!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute cat, they sure like getting into everything. My sisters cat used to sleep in the baby's crib or vibrating chair.
The wicker baby buggy makes a perfect place for your sweet kitty! The places they find to snuggle in always amazes me. Sometimes we look for 15-20 minutes, trying to find one of ours, because s/he has found a new hiding place - and our house is small!
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of the grands. Adorable.
The major news stations didn't report the missing girls until the obummers decided to speak out.
I, too, love olives. All colors, shapes and sizes. I'm even good at getting rid of pits in a lady-like manner! :)
Looks like someone has laid tabs on that buggy, and it looks like it will stay right where it is, for now. ~smile~
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your Hodgepodge Wednesday, hope your knee continues to heal .
Blessings,
Sue
Your beautiful cat is beautiful in that beautiful buggy.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the olives - yummy.
And does your knee hurt - do you know after my hip surgery my knee pain showed up. I had been over using that because I was babying my hip. Hope that you are okay.
Here I was thinking, "what could be cuter than the cat in the buggy?" and then I saw your adorable grandbabies!! So cute!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this post and your thoughts and answers to the questions. Always so interesting. The wicker buggy is beautiful! Tuppence sure seems to be enjoying it. Have a nice evening.
ReplyDeleteThis baby buggy took me right back to my grandma's house! She had one there we would play with. Maybe with our dolls. But I also know my mom had my sister in it when she was born, Funny how memories are triggered. I could even sense the scent of it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute kitty...and of course she must have known that you were thinking of that buggy..they have a sixth sense about those things.
ReplyDeleteJen
Judy, I'm so glad you told me about this post -- for some reason, I missed it! Yes, she is not Lionel, but she IS adorable in her own right! In fact, I'm prepared to take her AND that gorgeous baby buggy off your hands!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous pastel calico she is. She must have read somewhere that you were selling that buggy and she'd have none of that. :) Cute post. I'm new to your blog and look forward to dropping by again. Deb. (Ontario, Canada)
ReplyDeleteThe cat knows the best places in comfort.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing the Trevi fountain in Rome and it was so big I couldn't get it all in tho the photo on a 50mm lens at the time.
