I thought I'd post the London Eye from a different perspective. I love these machinery shots. I hope you'll enjoy them.

One revolution per 30 minutes. Amazing views!
Worth the money at least once.
P.S. Okay, I'm seeing a trend here in the comments. lol This is NOT scary. The Eye moves so slowly that it never has to stop, even for you to easily step aboard. It CREEPS (maybe I should choose a different word here?) through the air. Feels like you're standing in a glass living room, but with amazing views. And only one pod has ever come loose and crashed to the ground, killing everyone aboard. JUST KIDDING! It's a wonderful experience.

Interesting shots of the workings of the London Eye. Makes one hope the welds hold tight! I Love the views but don't know if I could do it. It would be embarrassing to have a panic attack at the top!

I love your photos. I didn't get a chance to ride it and wanted to! Some of the days when I toured London it was raining miserably. The day we were near the London Eye was the type of day where umbrella's were being turned inside out. Can't wait to go back and take a ride.

ReplyDeleteA ferris wheel is one of only two rides I go on, the other is the merry go round! So it doesn't look scary to me especially enclosed. Once again you've shown some wonderful photos with creative angles!

I am not one for heights, but if it takes 30 minutes to go around, I think I could do it. As long as the pod doesn't shake too much. My favorite ride at the amusement park has always been the ski lift! Lol!

ReplyDeleteWe stood in line for a while and then decided to skip the London Eye and went to the London Aquarium. Did you have to stand in line very long? You got wonderful pictures of it.

Oh, Judy, what a delight to find you (or shall I say that you found me?)! I LOVE your photos and find them absolutely fascinating! Being an engineer's wife, I so love seeing how things are constructed and operate. The view is magnificent, and I did not know that the London Eye moves so slowly and is such a beautiful and elegant machine. While I'm not a fan of heights, I might imagine trying this one, if I ever managed to get to the U. K. (my father was born in Scotland and came to the U. S. as a young lad...and I've always yearned to see Scotland). Thanks for sharing your beautiful photography and words. And I love so many of your "interests" in your profile...definitely of like minds! Hugs!

ReplyDeleteMost of my London travelling was done before the eye was built. The only other more recent occasions were to do the Tower Bridge experience and a general tourism day that I covered in digital for the first time for the blog. Ooo, that was 4 years ago !
Hi Judy, I am perusing your London posts with great interest. We are in the beginning phase of planning a trip to London in the fall to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We have been watching many Rick Steves YouTube videos and reading books from the library. Visiting London has been a lifelong dream of mine even though I have never been out of the country. Applying for a passport soon. Super excited!
