When I first stepped into the woods from the alfalfa field, I remarked at how beautiful it was, the afternoon light filtered by the leaves. But in the picture I got with my cellphone, the golden beauty disappeared and everything was covered with a blue haze (below).
Mr. Cranberry handed me his blue-blocker sunglasses and said, 'Here. Look through these.' I did. The blue haze vanished. Since I only had my cellphone with me and not my regular camera, I took the photos by holding his sunglasses in front of my cellphone lens.

And I just noticed a couple oak leaves lying there also.
I think the birch looks like something from Dr. Who.

We'll be lucky to get this one down before it falls down!

I notice how brilliant the fall foliage is when I'm wearing my magnetic sunglasses too, and I tried putting them (they are not large) over my big camera lens but they didn't cover enough. I'm wondering if there's a lens cover in that colour that I could buy for it. It does make the colours truer. Also, on my iPhone, I find I have a pink tone to my photos. I don't know why that is but it really makes my photos look funny. Maybe I need to buy a pair of cheap sunglasses with a large lens? Happy Monday to you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...my dad used to "mark" trees for the US Forest Service so that brings back memories. It is a lot of work to be the custodian of a forest!!

ReplyDeleteI am soooo jealous. i have always wanted to own my own woods and to have your own woodhenge is wonderful... i have to drive 20 to 25 minutes to find any woods and most of our woods can't be walked in because it is to swampy... but we can walk in them year round... your cell phone did a fantastic job of these photos, but then it KNEW who was holding it i am sure.

ReplyDeleteThe woods are beautiful. As a child we visited what we called "the timber" and there is such beauty and serenity there. A special place! Sometimes I wish I lived out in the country and had timber!

Mr. Cranberry must have had very clean glasses to get such vibrant and clear photos. It reminds me of a photo text from my son of the moon this weekend, somehow taken with his cell through the telescope. Just amazing.

ReplyDeleteYour pictures are amazing! We don't have birch around here and I love to see the beautiful bark. We do need to get to the woods very soon...my husband is having withdrawal from it. We have some land in East Texas and it's covered in big beautiful trees. Mostly oaks and pine but it's wonderful.

ReplyDeleteThere are some camera apps that allow you to warm up the light when you take the photo. The sunglasses work in the pinch to reduce glare, but they also make polarizer filters for iPhones! Most work without your iPhone not in a case. But there are some clip-on ones that you can use without requiring a case removal.

Your autumn color is beautiful! I love your woods--they must be a pleasant place to walk around and feel surrounded by nature. I find autumn colors can be brighter on cloudy days--maybe nature's blue filter?

It's interesting how your two photos of the woods differ. Ok the golden one that you like from your camera has a unique charm about it but I also like the light depicted coming through the trees on your cell phone.
ReplyDeleteI've got three means of recording digital pictures now and they all have their benefits. My camera phone (had since january) is ideal for quick pictures, great in standard shots but awkward in varying light conditions as the readings are all averaged out. However it can throw up some surprising uncontrollable results as I notice in your photo too.

I have tried that before! It didn't turn out as well as yours, but I had my camera, not my phone. Yes, I am ready to hit the fall foliage tour here in Arkansas..just waiting on the leaves to turn a bit more.
