I labeled this post, 'Vintage Buildings...' because I can't label it 'Wisconsin Barns' since it's not a barn and isn't in Wisconsin. So maybe older buildings other than barns or other than being located in Wisconsin will find a home here in this category. We'll see.
This pretty and little town hall lies somewhere between Rochester and Lake City, MN

(see location at the end of this post. Did you know that 'location' is sitting there on your Blogger sidebar so that you can use it in your posts? I had no idea, until Mike from A Bit About Britain pointed it out to me. I would make a terrible eyewitness, wouldn't I. Anyway, once you plug in a location, the link to a map will show up after the Linkwithin thumbnails. This is important to a map lover like me).
P.S. There seems to be some misunderstanding about that 'Location' link. I am not going to be plugging in my own location, heaven forbid, but will use that link to show the location of places I blog about.

Moving along...We got off the beaten path for a bit and took a few photos of the countryside. Chester Town Hall is where the people of Chester Township go to vote. I made sure to track it down and yes, it's true. Evidently, what's on today's ballot has to do with the state legislature, a recall, and school board business. Just thought you'd want to know.
And BTW, town halls in Wisconsin look very much like this. There's really not too much separating the two states except for that huge river.

I believe that's a realtor's sign out front, in case you're interested in purchasing this country store SW of Lake City, MN. I have a few other Lake City, MN photos to show you also, but they're a whole different theme for another day. Okay, just one peek for now, for I don't know when I'm going to get around to posting the other photos of Lake City.
Taken in Lake City, MN
What you're looking at is Lake Pepin,
which is really just a bulge in the Mississippi River.
I love that river. It's beautiful.
I love to watch barges and boats on the Mississippi.
It looks like I'll have the opportunity to visit Lake City the first part of June. It should be beautiful then.
Have a great day, everyone!

I am a map lover too and I had no idea you could link in the location, so i need to check it out!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing this part of MN so much but in all honesty, it was the old wagon that I fell in love with - truly a treasure!
What a collection of neat old treasure you have today Judy. Thanks for sharing. It looks like the old store has solar panel, it's keeping up with the times. I hope that you return soon with more of your treasures.
ReplyDeleteI had noticed the location thing on the side bar, and in the post part, but did not know where it would show up and have never used it. i love the truck the wagon and even that tall front building. i am not to fond of all those solar panels on the front, but i assume they put them there to take advantage of the sun on that side..
ReplyDeleteHello, I love the old truck, wago and the pretty view of the lake. I have to check out this location thingy. I am still not sure where it shows up at? Happy Tuesday, enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteSolar panels, yea!
ReplyDeleteI am sure that those buildings would have some amazing stories to tell if only they could talk! xx
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures and appreciate old buildings too! Thank you for sharing with us :)
ReplyDeleteLove the photos Judy . . .
ReplyDeleteand hearing a bit about Lake City . . .

ReplyDeletethe mix of updated and vintage store was odd. loved some of the other old finds.
ReplyDeleteThat's an amazing frontage to the store, something unfamiliar to me in design. I had no idea about the location finder either, just looked it up and maybe I might have to use it now.
ReplyDeleteThese are some great treasures!
ReplyDeleteLooks like my kind of town. I hope someone purchases the old store and brings it back to life.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea about the location button, Judy! Thank you for mentioning this! Lake City looks lovely....oh the Mississippi is one gorgeous river. You must return in the summer. ♥
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info about the map! I love all of these pictures, especially the first one. I wonder what it looks like inside.
ReplyDeleteEvery bit of this post is lovely. The Town Hall looks chilly and lonely now but must really shine when it is full of folks for an event.
ReplyDeleteOh that old truck and sign make me want to take a trip to the middle and go from flea market to antique shop to barn all summer long!
Love that old truck!
ReplyDeleteI love that river, too. It and the Great Lakes...not sure why. I don't see them often but draw me.
ReplyDeleteI loved your pics today...love old buildings, and wish I had thought of calling them vintage.
Wooo hooo! My county! I live in Wabasha which is the county seat. We have awesome old buildings here also. Have you ever been to The Prim Barn sale? It is awesome! Love to see someone enjoying my part of the country....sometimes we take things for granted.
ReplyDeleteBe blessed,
Cindi
Awesome photos of the old buildings, wagon and truck! And look at that old store with solar power panels on the front and a wind turbine out back! Imagine! That location gadget is pretty neat. I had no idea. May and barn sales can't some soon enough for some I guess. Interesting post.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I love that building.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, Judy. I love old buildings of all sorts and taken many photos of some that I have come across. I guess I need to post them on my blog someday :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I love the vintage buildings and old cars.
ReplyDeleteOh I avoid those location services like the plague. I suffer from some paranoia or something. =D
ReplyDeleteThis is my kind of post! I love it! I think we have been here, too. I am a huge fan of the old Mississippi River. My ancestors lived on the river, some in Missouri, some in Tennessee, some in Arkansas. I am first-generation northerner (IL). I am a big Twain fan, too. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, wonderful history and thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
Vintage for sure ..Love the cart!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful scenes - any would look great blown up and framed! Love the old truck! x K
ReplyDeleteLake Pepin is near where Laura Ingalls lived? From Little House in The Woods? Most of my mom's family lives in Wisconsin. She worked in Minnesota for awhile until she married my dad. Her home town was Colby, Colby cheese family. Wisconsin people are the best! Kathleen in Az
ReplyDeleteI do like that town hall--looks like it stepped out of a movie. I can just picture people lining up there (I hope) to vote. All your photos have a beautiful gray cast to them (no sun I guess) and look cold (could be the snow) but the color pops are so rich and beautiful. Loved seeing these, but was looking as I thought I missed your Wednesday post!
ReplyDeleteNice series of things. I really love that old wagon!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely place, I'm sure that when you're coming back in June you'll find it even more fascinating, my sweetest Judy !
ReplyDeleteSending much love for wishing you a most beautiful day, my Dearest one,
I hug you so sweetly, with thankfulness,
Dany
