I labeled this post, 'Vintage Buildings...' because I can't label it 'Wisconsin Barns' since it's not a barn and isn't in Wisconsin. So maybe older buildings other than barns or other than being located in Wisconsin will find a home here in this category. We'll see.

This pretty and little town hall lies somewhere between Rochester and Lake City, MN

I had no idea, until Mike from A Bit About Britain pointed it out to me. I would make a terrible eyewitness, wouldn't I. Moving along...We got off the beaten path for a bit and took a few photos of the countryside. Chester Town Hall is where the people of Chester Township go to vote. I made sure to track it down and yes, it's true. Evidently, what's on today's ballot has to do with the state legislature, a recall, and school board business. Just thought you'd want to know.
And BTW, town halls in Wisconsin look very much like this. There's really not too much separating the two states except for that huge river.

I believe that's a realtor's sign out front, in case you're interested in purchasing this country store SW of Lake City, MN. I have a few other Lake City, MN photos to show you also, but they're a whole different theme for another day. Okay, just one peek for now, for I don't know when I'm going to get around to posting the other photos of Lake City.

What you're looking at is Lake Pepin,
which is really just a bulge in the Mississippi River.
I love that river. It's beautiful.
I love to watch barges and boats on the Mississippi.
It looks like I'll have the opportunity to visit Lake City the first part of June. It should be beautiful then.

What a collection of neat old treasure you have today Judy. Thanks for sharing. It looks like the old store has solar panel, it's keeping up with the times. I hope that you return soon with more of your treasures.
ReplyDeleteI had noticed the location thing on the side bar, and in the post part, but did not know where it would show up and have never used it. i love the truck the wagon and even that tall front building. i am not to fond of all those solar panels on the front, but i assume they put them there to take advantage of the sun on that side..

Wooo hooo! My county! I live in Wabasha which is the county seat. We have awesome old buildings here also. Have you ever been to The Prim Barn sale? It is awesome! Love to see someone enjoying my part of the country....sometimes we take things for granted.

Awesome photos of the old buildings, wagon and truck! And look at that old store with solar power panels on the front and a wind turbine out back! Imagine! That location gadget is pretty neat. I had no idea. May and barn sales can't some soon enough for some I guess. Interesting post.

ReplyDeleteThis is my kind of post! I love it! I think we have been here, too. I am a huge fan of the old Mississippi River. My ancestors lived on the river, some in Missouri, some in Tennessee, some in Arkansas. I am first-generation northerner (IL). I am a big Twain fan, too. Hugs.

ReplyDeleteLake Pepin is near where Laura Ingalls lived? From Little House in The Woods? Most of my mom's family lives in Wisconsin. She worked in Minnesota for awhile until she married my dad. Her home town was Colby, Colby cheese family. Wisconsin people are the best! Kathleen in Az
ReplyDeleteI do like that town hall--looks like it stepped out of a movie. I can just picture people lining up there (I hope) to vote. All your photos have a beautiful gray cast to them (no sun I guess) and look cold (could be the snow) but the color pops are so rich and beautiful. Loved seeing these, but was looking as I thought I missed your Wednesday post!
