I was hoping for this to be a slightly more substantial post, but unfortunately, I ran out of time because of glitches with a security scan for an order blah blah blah. I don't know if it's my printer or what the problem is, but it's always annoying when something that should take 3 seconds takes 3 minutes or 30 minutes or 3 hours. Still waiting. Anyway...
The first five photos were all taken in England.
The first is of the wrought iron fence in front of St. Mary's Church (good guess, huh) in Cambridge and it was so eye catching. The fence was full of notes, signs, bicycles, etc. It made a colorful setting.

Formerly the "Wig and Pen", in December 2007 this building was
vacant, with an application pending for it to be converted into the
"Thai Square". More information about the history of this building. (Again, that bit of info: Londonremembers.com)
Cute little shop in Windsor
Those were five photos for Anglophile Friday and also for Five on Friday, but I have another set of five that I hope I'm allowed to show you. If not, well, I'm not sure how to handle that.
The following five signs are here in Wisconsin.
Road signs in the Kickapoo Valley
near Westby, Wisconsin
A favorite intersection
Actually, all the roads and intersections in the Kickapoo River Valley are favorites. Now that Eric's no longer with us, we're actually having to learn those crazy, winding roads ourselves. I've zoomed in on a portion of my Kickapoo Valley map and printed that out so that helps enormously in finding our way around. More work at Eric's house next week, and I hope there will be a few minutes' reprieve to go visit the neighbors and sheep.
Sign on the back of bleachers in either Leon or Melvina,
but I think it was Leon, Wisconsin...
...just across the road from these two barns.
(This picture doesn't count as one of the five.
It's just a reminder.)
Signs in our neighborhood here in NW Wisconsin
Amish neighborhood
And if you're looking for a beautiful log cabin, Schrock's makes it.
A pretty sign on Salem Ridge Road, Westby
I still can't figure out why anyone would want to live in a town called
AVALANCHE!
At the least the snow is now gone and
they won't have to worry about that again until November.

I always love seeing the quaint & interesting parts around a town so thanks for sharing these from your travels!
Seems like you really mus t love snow to live in Avalanche !
Hello, what a wonderful collection of signs and scenery. I like the Wig and Pen sign, sounds more like the name for a pub. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
Hello there,
I totally enjoyed looking at your lovely photos of England and Wisconsin today. :)
I visited London twice and the last time was about 3 years ago. I do really miss it after looking at your photos.
Wishing you a nice day and weekend.
Julie xo
Loved my swift arm chair trip to England this morning. Very few people understand my Anglophile mindset...so glad I have a blog friend who feeds my need!:)
I love the unique signs. I need to make an effort to take some pics here. We have some of the craziest street signs. Enjoy your day sweet lady! Hugs, Diane
Beautiful post with very interesting photos - all of them! You continue to take us to places I'll probably never visit, so I appreciate your blog.
love the trillium sign. :)
Judy, Such interesting photos. Love the tiny shop. I am still laughing about the town of Avalanche. Kind of scary thinking how it may have gotten that name. Blessings for a great weekend, xoxo, Susie
I just love this Judy! There's such a charm and "romance" to signs. I especially love that you added some Wisconsin ones...however I may be a bit biased. (wink wink). Lol
Have a very blessed weekend my Friend. Sunshine predicted here! xoxo
Enjoyed your Friday Foto's. Frogtown, USA gave me a chuckle!
I happy you posted a double five this week. Pooh on anyone who doesn't like it! LOL
I love the Wisconsin five best and also wonder about a town called Avalanche!
i am wondering why anyone who did live in Avalanche, would call their store the Avalanche store.. do they sell avalanches? i like that flowered sign and love the bow window shop with the flowers in the planter. i am wondering how they got them up there and if they are real or fake. think watering problems.. LOL.... i really enjoy seeing the quaint shops in England. no demerits given for the last 5 photos..he he he from the queen of to many photos
I loved your humoristic post and the signs! Thank you for sharing.
I like all your photos today and am interested to see that our Friday fotos don't have to always be floral. I would share more of my travels. Like the England and Wisconsin photos. Very nice. Avalanche City. There must be a story behind that.
Judy, thank you for taking me to England on Fridays. Your photos are just lovely and I always get a chuckle--Frogtown and Avalanche! Reminds me of some of our strange sounding towns in VA--Frog Level comes to mind. Enjoy a beautiful weekend. ♥
These are great signs and photos of them. I always wonder where towns got their names - Avalanche seems a bit tricky - might not want to live there in the winter!
A great collection of signs! I am not sure why anyone would live in a town called Avalanche either, but I really don't know why you would call your store that name!! Hope you get your computer troubles sorted out. Thank you for joining Five On Friday, I hope you have a fun weekend! xx
Now that was a great series of signs, so interesting to see, and weren't the names great too!
All the best Jan
Great signs! Love the Avalanche shop one.
Fantastic collection of signs, wouldn't just love to have a tipple at the Devil's Tavern!
Awesome photos....would love to visit there sometime. Thanks for linking up with me today...have a great weekend.
There's a definite difference on each side of the 'pond'. English names have always intrigued me.
Wonderful signs and beautiful surroundings.
As always, beautiful photos! I agree about naming the town Avalanche. I wonder if there is a town named "tornado." Have a good weekend!
Wonderful signs. It is quite interesting to hear about how names were selected. Judy, I hope you can link up to our Sunday party, Dishing It & Digging It. Have a wonderful weekend.
I thought I had posted before. Maybe on instagram. I do love a good sign and have a collection of lawyer signs…mainly because the names happen to be unusual. Its my sister who actually collects the names, I take the pics. Anyway, great signs, the shop at the end might be real interesting inside! And I love the Windsor shop--the windows especially!
I was wondering what one sold in an Avalanche store until you said that was the name of the store..Interesting post..
"Signage" captures when we travel is a constant . . .
Hubs likes to snap pics of signs/store front names with " real people."
Wonderful post of signs and sccenery
Lots of wonderful, quaint and interesting signs! I'd love to know more about a couple of those London ones! :-) Great post.
How different the signs are from the two different countries, I've enjoyed looking at all of them:)
Hi Judy,
This was fun. You are so creative.
Hope things are going well with cleaning at Eric's. Do you have to sell the property?
Carla
