Windsor Favorites - Anglophile Friday

'Hello, Judy? Why don't these people just go away and leave me alone.'
quoting Robert E. Lee

Even though she must have been horribly busy with her 90th birthday celebration and all, I was so pleased to get a phone call yesterday from one of my favorites - Her Majesty the Queen! I've always admired Queen Elizabeth's steadfast commitment to duty, honor, and country, and all done with such class. She will be a tough act to follow. Long live the Queen!

And just so you know, it's all so confusing as to how to address royalty, so I am including this link to proper etiquette. I'm sure we'll all have a chance to use it, next time we're invited to tea.

 Getting there: Waterloo to Windsor
via South West
(It's such a pretty train and train station!
Then again, it would be, wouldn't it.)

So close and yet so far:
Windsor Castle

England is full of cute pubs
I didn't crop the photo because I wanted you to see the adjacent buildings, including the rack of clothes trotted out to the sidewalk for all the [tourist] passersby.

Coat of arms, high above the street
My guess: God give us virtue and industry?
Any Latin scholars out there?

For the first time ever, I am linking to Amy's Five on Friday. I've been wanting to do this for a long time, and today I actually have five things to contribute. Happily joining the party. Thank you, Amy!

Love the phone booth. And, I'll bet there is some mighty fine fish and chips inside that pub. :)

Your photo makes me wonder if the queen ever was in a phone booth?! I enjoyed seeing all the family official photos celebrating her birthday but wonder if we would have seen more news coverage here if another prince hadn't trumped her news. No puns intended, honestly!

We didn't get to Windsor when we were in England 10 years ago. But we did take the train from Waterloo station to Norwich! It was a wonderful way to travel! Thanks for the memories!

you picked the perfect time to link, these are amazing. i am in love with that phone booth shot.. and the train and castle, oh my. i watched that 90 year old Queen step off the train like a 20 year old. i am sure i could not do it that gracefully... it is a lot of fun watching the Royals and hubby can't understand why i like to.... thanks for a very interesting visit to Britain

I enjoyed revisiting some of the sights in London. We didn't get to meet the Queen when we were there, but I so enjoy and appreciate her Christmas messages and honoring Christ. She was a good queen.

I took notes on how to address royalty. It seems I've been doing it all wrong with our Royal Flock of hens. Haha! Great post!

That certainly made me smile, a wonderful tribute.

LOL How sweet of dear Elizabeth to take time out of her day to thank you for the birthday present. Oh course what you expect from those English manners.

Oh my goodness, so many rules in that link. I like the last suggestion...just fess up and let the Royal person know you are an ignorant American who has no clue how to address them!! LOL

I'm sure you had a nice chat with the dear Queen!! She does look great for 90!!

We all wish the Queen a wonderful birthday time and you are so right, she's one of a kind.

Nice of the queen to give you a call ... there must be a reason why she's been on the throne for so long !!!

I had a neighbor who was from England originally. Husband's in the Airforce and when they had to move I took their dog Lily in. She posted a link on Facebook the other day that I just loved...a pictorial of Queen Elizabeth from a young girl onward. What a beauty she was and is and what dedication to her God and Country.
