Following Highway 29 to Green Bay

 Farm somewhere along Highway 29
between Chippewa Falls and Green Bay, WI

Thank you, Joyce.

1. What would you say is the best and worst thing about moving house?

The best would be moving to England for 6 months. You did say that, right? The worst would be trying to sort out 27 years' worth of accumulated 'treasures.'
 Teddy Bear Puppies??
I miss my huge German Shepherd.

2. What's moved you recently?
The movie 'Sully.' It's nice to be reminded that there really are some decent people out there who aren't simply striving for power and fame.

Ye Olde Farmhouse
Within probably a 20 mile radius of Shawano, WI
(not pronounced 'shaWANo' as one might think,
but SEAN-o (SHAWN-o)
I guess the second 'a' is silent.
3. Do you feel your life is moving forward, backward, or is on hold? How so?

I'm hoping that it's moving forward, certainly not backward or I wouldn't be seeing as many wrinkles when I look in the mirror. It still feels a bit on hold, but overall, I'd say progress.
 Awwww, the fam
on Shell Beach

4. On the move, move mountains, get a move on, it's your move, or bust a move...which phrase best applies to some aspect of your life right now? Explain
I've never heard the term 'bust a move.' Maybe 'it's your move,' in that I've been given the go-ahead for some exercises that should strengthen my leg.
Shell Beach, the beach made of itty bitty shells of
zebra mussels

5. What song makes you want to get up and move?

As I'm writing this after 11:23 PM, there isn't much that makes me want to get up and move. My next move will be to take a quilt out of the washer, hang it out, and go to bed.
It was a bit nippy, but a beautiful day nonetheless.

6. Your favorite snack to grab when you're 'on the move'?

Olives, cheese, almonds, dark chocolate.
 Remember those zebra mussels' shells?
This is what the beach is made of. Tiny, razor-sharp shells.

7. What one accessory makes your house feel like home?

d) the 1913 Home Comfort range
b) books
c) wood-burning stove in the living room
a) cat(s) or dog(s)
e) all of the above
I liked the juxtaposition of the colorful, beautiful, and natural woods
behind the colorful, not so beautiful,
but useful equipment.
If you squint, it looks better.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
We enjoyed the past weekend with our daughter and son-in-law who live in Green Bay. Can you believe we were THIS close to Lambeau Field and got detoured to Seroogy's chocolate shop instead. (Please forgive me, Packers fans.) I enjoyed seeing Green Bay for the first time, staying with our 'kids' in their new home, visiting the sandy beach at Two Rivers, Shell Beach at Green Bay, going to watch 'Sully' at the movie theater, stopping in at Seroogys for chocolates, and just spending time with family before Beautiful Autumn turns to Wretched Winter.

 Audrey, looking rather smug.
Very pleased to see us return, and even posed for a selfie.
No, I haven't forgotten Tuppence.
I'll take her picture as soon as she retracts her claws quits hissing.

  1. Judy,
You and I need to work on your love for Winter. I mean, just a little. ;-) Ha!

    As always, love the photos.
Good luck with your new exercise.

  2. I loved Sully too. And any detour to a chocolate shop sounds great to me. Have a good week.

  3. I can't believe you were in GB for the first time!!! YAY!!!! Did the kids buy the house we had talked about or end up in a different one? Isn't Seroogy's the best? The store always has fun things in it, too.

You got some great pictures along the way and you always give wonderful answers to the posed questions.

Hope you have a great rest of the week. xo Diana

  4. Love your barn photos....I'm enamored with old barns. I'm going today to get my new car tag; GA has a new one that has a big red barn, Yippee! Have a great week.
    Cheers!

  5. Love your photos, CM. You know you would be very welcome to stay longer than 6 months; many do. I agree with you; teddy bear puppies???! Shell beach looks like a place to go - and interesting too; quite a small beach, though - I can't see me building sandcastles there. OK - I can't see me building sandcastles anywhere...

  6. I know 29 between Wausau and Green Bay - I know that one billboard. I live just a few miles off of 29 at exit 181 - Ringle.

  7. Judy, i totally agree with you about Sully. Someone doing their job without expecting praise or adoration for doing the right thing!! And I am already packing up some books to take to the little house because it is not a home without books.

  8. Shell Beach. How interesting! I enjoyed all of your pictures. Beloved and I look forward to seeing "Sully."

  9. I want to see "Sully" too but will wait until I can watch it at home. Shell beach looks beautiful but wouldn't want to walk on it barefoot! Our leaves haven't changed yet but I am looking forward to it. Have a great rest of the week :)

  10. Looks like Audrey is moving on up, or moving in... love the beach and glad you had some family time and that the doc says you can do some exercises... as for songs that make me move that would be anything with drum beats. I love drums and can't sit still even for marching drum bands. think River Dance, that kind of drums or feet tapping

  11. Your photos are always wonderful and Sully is on my list of things to see. So Shell Beach isn't one to walk barefoot on! I've never been to GB before, but the chocolate shop would tempt me too. Fireplace and pets. Yes.

  12. What a fabulous assortment of pictures! Beautiful! Your snacks sound so yummy! I'm with you = and teddy bear puppies? HOW CUTE! My first visit here - and I'll be back! :)

  13. Your photos are fabulous; Teddy Bear puppies, who knew? I bet they are cute. I've been in Green Bay often, as my aunt and cousin live there, plus I've cheered for the Packers at Lambeau field quite a few times. My sister lives in Eau Claire which is near Chippewa Falls, I think. I live in California now.

  14. You were almost in our neck of the woods! I don't think I have ever been in Green Bay for visiting/tourist purposes. The parents don't believe in dawdling an a trip. You get in the car and drive! So I have driven though the city on my way to Door County or the UP.

  15. Great news about the go ahead to exercise. I'm sure you feel like it's been a long recovery, but so glad you're closer and closer to getting to where you want to be. Your pics are always so pretty. Definitely feels like fall on your blog : )

  16. What great photos a this beautiful place. I can only imagine how those shells feel underfoot...not your usual beach, to be sure! We have not gotten to see Sully yet but it on our list of things to do! I love me some Tom Hanks :)

  17. I loved your HP answers and especially the photos interspersed between the questions!! So glad you had some good family time and even more glad that you have new exercises to strengthen your leg/hip. Excellent news!!

  18. Loved your answers and your photos - lol. And you are a girl after my own heart - CHOCOLATE! I have not seen Sully, but I heard it was awesome. At first I thought those shells were your snacks you were describing and wondered what the heck- lol!

  19. Great pictures Judy. Even water looks pretty when it's chilly. It's getting colder here now. The rain just arrived. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie

  21. Hey Doll! Love your gorgeous photos - and fun answers as always. ;) That Shell beach is intriguing. I've never heard of it. Happy to hear you're given more go ahead on exercises so you can "bust a move" in new ways now. Lol!

I'm a huge Packer fan - but LOVE Seroogy's chocolates, so I don't blame you for the u-turn there. Their meltaways are SO good!!

I was curious about that movie. Of course I love Tom Hanks in anything. But nice to hear it's good so I'll have to check it out.

    Blessings to you Judy! xoxo

  22. So glad to hear you're up another rung on the recovery ladder! Nice photos but was very surprised it was your first time in GB. Did you drive around Door County at all?

  23. Loved all your images and writings and glad to see Audrey is staying. yes a very smug look!

  24. Looks like a beautiful place to spend time with your dear family, Judy. The shell beach is amazing. I've been wanting to see 'Sully' and wondered if it was a good movie or not. Glad to know....That last line you wrote had me laughing so hard! Nothing like an angry cat!

  25. Lovely photos and great that you got to spend time with family. Good news about the exercises. I'm sure it will be good to be doing more moving :)

  26. Judy, when I saw "Highway 29," I got excited thinking how fun it would have been to share that road with you recently. But you were on a very different Highway 29. I just posted my travel review of Napa Valley (lots to enjoy there besides wine!). Maybe someday I'll get to travel *your* Highway 29! Love the cat "selfie" -- she looks supremely confident!

  27. Judy, I have always loved all of the red barns in Wisconsin. My youngest went to UW Madison....all the way from Texas! I will have to write about my first visit to Wisconsin .....Green Bay to be exact. I was twenty at the time....Gosh that was a loong time ago. Janey

  28. Ahh the great outdoors! Lovely to see more of Wisconsin in the autumn and colour coordinating the machinery too!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love the photos of your beautiful family, set against beautiful scenery! I'm glad you're able to make the most of your short Wisconsin autumn.

Moving is not for the faint of heart. Going through years of treasures...bittersweet.

    We loved Sully! Very inspiring!

Happy to hear that you're moving along in your recovery!

    Wishing you a special weekend ~ ^_^

  31. Green Bay looks pretty. It must be nice being up there with family. I have to say on t he moving front your are so right about 27 years of stuff. When we moved to this house going through 20 years of stuff was horrible. We did it once before moving and once recently. The thing you accumulate and realize are never used is sad. Not making that mistake again. LOVE it buy it DON'T doesn't come home.

  32. Ah, Tuppence. She and I might be soul mates. LOL I would love to visit Green Bay some day. I am not a Packers' fan per se, but I do pull for them sometimes. I am a Vince Lombardi fan. I wish we could bring him back to straighten out the NFL. If anyone could do it, he could. Or maybe I'm way more old fashioned than I like to admit. :) I have no idea how you can stay up past 11. I can't make it past 9.

  33. I think I have a new place I want to go for on a vacation! Chocolate, tiny shells...it all sounds good. (Where we go to the beach, there are just pebbles.)

  34. I want to see Sully . . . heard it was good.
Now to find a theater that is showing it . . .
I heard it gas moved on from the cinema.
    Love your pictures . . .
I might go for the chocolate shop too,
even though I'd be thrilled sitting at Lambeau Field . . .
    Wonder why I love winter . . .

    ReplyDelete
  35. Why are you writing your blog so late at night? I would agree with you, at that time of night, not much would get me up for a dance.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think chocolate would be higher on my list than the Packers too. lol
Here's hoping the exercises aren't too arduous and do some good. Hmm, a cat selfie...

    ReplyDelete
  37. I just love that red barn! Nice kitty too ♥

  38. Great looking barn/fence scene. - enjoyed your answers to the questions. Got a laugh about the (not moving backward) comment. - Good to see Audrey posing for a selfie too.

  39. You have an extra room in England....I'm in! Sully was a great movie. Enjoy your weekend.

  40. Judy, your pictures have such vivid colors. Beautiful! I love the cows. ;-)

  41. Hello, Audrey is a sweetie and I love the cows. I am sure she was happy to have you home again. The visit with the family sounds nice, a movie and chocolate would be good for me too.
Great answers! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and new week ahead!
