Right now, the only thing in our area that is brilliantly colored is the sumac (below). As you can see in the photo of Dallas Pond, above, the maples and oaks are just beginning to turn color.
Audrey went missing today. She ate breakfast on the porch and then disappeared. Maybe she's out hunting again. I suppose the habit of fending for oneself is hard to break. Cats are not people. Our higher intellect allows us to adjust to that much more easily. We'll see if she turns up again. I do hope so. It's been a very windy (but sunny) day, and perhaps the wind chimes on the porch scared her away. We took the wind chimes down, Audrey. Please return.
It was not a hot day, but cattle always like wading or standing in a stream, especially if a DNR or EPA agent is not in the vicinity. This fella seems to be enjoying his sunny afternoon. I would imagine that this little water run is grandfathered in, so to speak.
Well it was, before he decided to stand in it.
The color isn't richer because it was a very sunny day and my photo editing program is ancient. Trust me, the scene was beautiful. Deep blue skies, deep red sumac, etc.
Audrey, you're back!!!! Yea! Audrey just came walking along the ledge of the screen porch and is now eating and drinking on the main (unscreened part) porch. I wonder where she was all the time that I was searching for her behind the shop, inside the barn, under vehicles, etc. Cats are so darned independent! But still, I'm very glad she has returned.

I hope Audrey hangs around to meet your grand kids.. love that barn pic and wadda wadda wadda pic to... I have always loved to see cows standing in water. on our way to church back in the 90's we passed fields of cows and most of them would be belly deep in small ponds..

ReplyDeleteYour neighborhood scenes are gorgeous. In my neighborhood, high winds and cold rain have stripped the golden leaves from the trees, and the leaves are now a soggy mess, littering streets and yards.
It's crazy how quickly we get attached to a sweet little kitty, isn't it? If I hadn't developed allergies, I would still have a couple of cats. I think Tucker would accept one of those better than another dog. LOL I never tire of your photos. Such a beautiful area. Of course, nothing is better to look at than those little cuties at the end. :)

The leaves are just beginning to change here too. Though last weekend when we drove through the state, the Madison and Dells area were ablaze with color! I found that very strange..... Don't have much hope for a very colorful display here, September was too warm.

ReplyDeleteI have known the joy of "the cat came back." Happy for you and a little sad for Tuppence who certainly needs no upstart on the premises. Of course, you still love her, yet she will need many assurances. That red squirrel tail looks right at home in the leaves. Speaking of leaves, ours have gone from green to nearly peak in just seven days. Yours are probably going to get there fast, too. Blink twice and they're gone. This season just does not last long enough.

Finally trying to join the land of the living again. Horrible cold - but at least not strep (had to go to clinic). I'm loving all the colors starting to really turn around our beautiful WI world. ;)

Fall is definitely taking its time here, too. A few trees have started to change, but with daytime highs still in the 80s I'm afraid it is a slow process. Glad Audrey returned. xo Laura

Fall may not be showing all its color yet but these sure are gorgeous photos. The air looks like a clear fall day. The sky a brilliant blue and the cattle are sure enjoying themselves. The land you have always amazes me with its beauty. Happy Audrey decided to come home and the kids sure are cute.
