A moment of reflection
1. Tell us about a time you felt like you were 'flying by the seat of your pants'.
I am not a 'fly by the seat of your pants' kind of person, but the most recent time might have been in trying all sorts of things, including two factory resets of my Kindle, in order to get my Kindle to stop freezing up. And then the many 'chat' conversations with various Amazon tech people who kept telling me what I had already told them, and trying to be patient while they handed me off to one technician after the other so I could explain it all again and hear the same answers again.

2. When or where would you most like to be 'a fly on the wall'?
at NSA. It would be very interesting, wouldn't it! Then again, I've seen what happens to flies.

3. 'Happiness is like a butterfly: the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder.'-Henry David Thoreau
Would you agree? Why or why not?
I don't think of happiness as sitting softly anywhere, and I do think people chase it. Joy, on the other hand, is something observed, acknowledged, not chased. Happiness is getting my Kindle to finally work right. Joy is observing God's creation and knowing that Jesus is Lord of ALL.

4. Share a favorite movie, book, or song with flying in it's title, lyrics, or theme somewhere.
How about the song, 'Fly the friendly skies of United' ? Or maybe not.
5. What is one task or chore you tend to do 'on the fly'? Is this something that really needs to be done another way?
Hmmm. I don't do too many things 'on the fly.' I don't do too many things. Period.

6. What was happening the last time you thought to yourself or said aloud, 'Wow, time flies when you're having fun', and you meant it.
It would have been while spending time outdoors with family, in gorgeous weather. In other words, spring, summer, or fall (or even winter) when the family is around.
A few days ago, a beautiful spring day
7. This Thursday is National Garlic Day. Will you add garlic to your menu on Thursday? Do you like garlic? What's your favorite dish made with garlic?
I love garlic and use it frequently, but don't have it written on the calendar for Thursday. Probably my favorite dish with garlic is the gluten free chicken pasta casserole which I've shown here far too many times.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Smokey, you cannot hide in my jade plant!
I think I get just as nervous about going to the vet as Smokey does. She had to go in for her booster shot yesterday. I hate putting her through that stress. I hate putting me through that stress of putting her through that stress. It was pouring rain, and when I got home, she ran out of the crate and disappeared somewhere. I put my snuggly robe on over my clothes because I felt chilled.
Ah yes. I found Smokey.
This is how she handles stress.
And this is how I handle stress.

I'm not much of a fly by the seat of my pants kind of person either. ;)
ReplyDeleteThose window washers would brighten ANY day!
Amen to the distinction between joy and happiness.
LOL! I love your sense of humor!! LOL!
Check.
Check.
That is is the most beautiful scene above #7!!
Poor Smokey... and, you! But, if it meant getting that scone... well, I'd say worth the stress! ;)

I hate taking my two for shots too. Even tho they have been to the Vet's office many times, they are very calm and don't suspect anything. I always feel guilty. Have a great week, Judy.
ReplyDeleteHello, love the pretty skies and the barn shots. Your window washers are cuties. I hope your is acting normal now. I feel sorry for the kitty going to the vet, coming home is a happy time though. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI never fly by the seat of my pants, I am a planner and I stick to it. in fact I make myself crazy with plans. about the Kindle thing... I had the same thing happen to me on the phone but with Canon Camera problem... after 3 people doing what yours did I ask for a supervisor. she repeated verbatim what the other 3 said. I said I can't believe you are repeating to me what 3 others said, are you listening or reading from a prepared statement. I gave her such a hard time she finally said, what do you want me to do. I said I want my money back. she said done.
ReplyDeleteI have said so many times how time flies when I am on the computer, it is like a time machine, 3 blinks of the eye and an hour is gone... we talk about movies and how one 2 hour movie is over in a flash, another one drags on... so enjoyment does make time fly. poor you and kitty for vet visit. Jake has to go for annual the first week of May and I dread it
I handle stress in a similar manner : ) It's a gray rainy day here today, so a good day for getting things done here at home. Like dusting-ha! We'll see. Have a happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteI loved your fun answers today. Yes, it would be interesting to be a fly on the wall at NSA, but I thought the same as you about what happens to flies.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad spring has found you. These days won't last nearly long enough!
Love your window washers :)
Have a great rest of the week!
Kathy (Reflections)
I like your stress management Judy!! I will have one with a big cup of coffee.

ReplyDeleteThat scone looks SO good! Stress management extraordinaire!
And I agree with your thought about happiness and joy being two very different qualities.
Love your photographs!! My favorite sentence is " I don't do too many things. Period." - I'm still chuckling. Thanks for visiting my blog today and for your comment!!
ReplyDeleteI so agree with your thoughts on happiness. Joy and happiness I think are often confused. Joy is all around us if we know Him, but happiness is not promised and can be fleeting. I enjoyed all your pictures as always. I showed your kittie pictures to my grandsons while we were there and they loved them! Enjoy your day....trust me, I am not going to do too many things today either, lol
ReplyDeleteEspecially love the barns shots, and the cats. Great hodge podge today. I've been missing in action for a while, so hope to visit again soon.
ReplyDeleteLinda Kay
LOL good thing you clarified the size of that large looking plate! But we know scones are very small. I sure agree with you about happiness on shoulders. And what an interesting conjoined silo photo, not to mention your adorable window washers. What a blessing grands are. Very good one there, #4!
ReplyDeleteYour #4 answer made me laugh out loud! I enjoyed your Hodgepodge and totally believe you when you say that plate is only five inches in diameter. I believe you! :)
ReplyDeleteThat scone looks so yummy! Is that one of your recipes?
ReplyDeleteI'll take one of your scones, Judy. It would be wonderful right now. You always take the most beautiful photos of the sky! I'm so happy to see Spring is in your corner. Also I can't forget the cutest window washers! Have a nice evening. ♥
ReplyDeleteI love the way you handle stress! #4--- Bahahahahahaha! Perfect. The kitties are just as cute as ever. Maybe I need to give Marcy a squirt bottle. All I have all over my glass door are tiny handprints. On second thought, I'll just keep the handprints. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never had a scone but that looks delicious. Poor Smokey. Glad he's found a way to de-stress. Love all the pictures of red barns. So cool. I agree with you on joy and happiness. How cool is that to have eagles so close.
ReplyDeleteThat looks a good stress buster but for me there would need to be chocolate! Great pics.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful. The conjoined silos are intriguing. I've never seen something like that before - always just a single silo. Your jade plant looks huge and very well cared for. Your cat reacts to going to the vet just like one of ours does. She's always happy to be back home.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm....I am a fly by the seat of my pants kind of person...even in my classroom, just a bit. Interesting to see the conjoined silos. New for me!
ReplyDeleteOh how I enjoy your pictures...
ReplyDeleteI used to work at United in my younger days in Chicago.
I enjoyed your answers too.
I would love to be a fly on the wall one day with each kid!
LOL
sandie
Wanted to make sure we knew your scone wasn't 8 inches across, huh? :) It looks delicious! I laughed when I read your answer to the one asking if you do anything by the seat of your pants!
ReplyDeleteBut a dinner plate-sized scone doesn't sound so bad, does it? :)
ReplyDeleteOh, those window washers! Darling!!
I am laughing at answer #4! :D
I definitely love how you and Smokey handle stress! Can I borrow your adorable window-washers please? It won't stop raining here long enough for me to wash them! Love all the gorgeous photos of the country-side. How thrilling to have the eagles so close! xx K
ReplyDeleteWonderful explanation of the difference between happiness and joy. Now you took the time to give thoughtful responses.
ReplyDeleteRemember that snow you recently had? Well, it has come nigh me and I am none too pleased. It is definitely affecting my happiness, but I shall try not to allow it to mess with my joy.
Judy, if I could be a fly on the wall right about now I'd be st your house drinking that lovely cup of coffee and eating that scone . Yum ! Hugs and blessings , Cindy
ReplyDeleteJudy, Oh yes, I want a scone. Looks so tasty. Love the window washers..where can I get a few of those handy kids? LOL I have a new found respect for you Judy. Your soap making looks like work...after I attended a class on the process. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteFun hodgepodge Dearest! Love the United joke. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe have eagles quite often as well. They are definitely magnificently majestic aren't they? Now I need to think of something with garlic too. Garlic= yummy (& bad breath, but that's okay). :P
Feel free to send some scones my way for tea please. Boy do they look good. My hips don't need it, but my heart does.
Glad kitties are snuggly and stress free now (& you too!)
xoxo
I like your way of handling stress! :) Great answer for #3; I would choose lasting joy over temporary happiness any day. Enjoyed your photos, as always. :)
ReplyDeleteEverything about this is fun. Love the cat pictures...and lasting joy. Google + doesn't let me comment either! Love this kind of hodgepodge.
ReplyDeletePoor Smokey! Judy, just saw a cat movie I wanted to tell you about. It's a true story about a recovering drug user in London who is adopted by a ginger cat - A Street Cat Named Bob. Don't want to spoil it for anyone, but it has a happy ending!
