What Do These Things Have in Common?

I think we have had exactly three sunny days in April. April 11, April 16 (Easter Sunday), and April 22. Other than that, we've been stuck in dreary. I know this because as I look over all the photos in my April 2017 file, almost all of them look bleak.

BUT, there are always Tommy and Smokey to brighten things up:

Watching me bring sheets in from the clothesline

And, rain or shine, there are the cheery daffodils
(and a ton of that pesky 'snow on the mountain' invasive plant!)

and a couple more photos for my sorely neglected Anglophile Friday:

Durham, England in the evening

 Durham Castle in the background

I've forgotten whether or not I've posted these two photos previously.

  1. Those kitties are getting so big, Judy! They are just so darned cute!
It has been the same weather pattern here that you experienced there. We are at just below freezing here on the bay this morning. I suppose the tulips that had shown flowers will never open now. ugh- Enough already. I can't believe how cold it is! They said we might have snow today.
    Beautiful pictures of England---xo Diana

  7. Tommy & Smokey have the sweetest faces. How cute that they watch every move you make! If they are like my cats, they even follow you to the bathroom! lol
Your jonquils are so pretty. I wish you a very enjoyable weekend. xoxo

  8. Those kitties are with you at every move, aren't they? What a cute picture of them waiting for your return to the house. They may think the sheets could be fun to romp in also. Always enjoy your photos of England--this one in the evening is especially rich! Have a good weekend--hope it's sunny!

  10. Isn't it funny how some will trade rainy days and all we want is sunshine!! Here in Oregon we have not had two days of sunshine since Nov. 13th & 14th. Yes, I'm so over the rain & mud!!!

Love, love your kitties! Somehow I'm allergic to cats. This is sad for I love, love kitties. So keep the pictures coming of Tommy & Smoky!!

  13. I don't remember seeing those last two photos before, but even if I did, it would still be good to see them again!! Love those sweet kitty faces!!

  14. Now Durham looks like a place I would enjoy visiting. Or living. Ha! Those kitties! We've had about 2 days of dreary and the rest have been hot and sunny. UGH. This morning I opened the back door so Tucker and I could feed the birds and a wall of humidity smacked me right in the face. I stayed inside the rest of the day.

  15. Your kitties are so bright eyed. I miss having one in the house.

  16. Dreary days are no fun. But maybe they make us appreciate the bright days more.

  17. Your photos are all wonderful. We have had similar weather with the sunshine being behind clouds the majority of the month. We are to have rain for three days now. I like your kitties. They are so sweet.

  18. Tommy and Smokey are just the cutest kitties, Judy. Your daffodils are lovely among that neat rock wall---looks so English! It adds the sunshine you need. Snow on the mountain refuses to leave my gardens. It pops up everywhere. Now, I want to go to Durham Castle. So lovely. Have a nice weekend. ♥

  19. The daffodil photo is so charming even with the pesky plant that annoys you. There's always at least one that doesn't play well with the others. In my little front garden, it's the lily of the valley...a flower that in a bed far, far away from the others would be fine, is a pita there.

The kittens are so cute, especially together. I keep trying to talk my daughter into having littermates...a sister and a brother, which I have heard is the best combination of all. She's not buying the line. Either way, she's not "buying" it until October when her new home is built.

April has been a bust as far as weather goes (and most other ways as well). Hope May is far better and June as well. It is difficult to put in long winter months to be rewarded this way. As if weather is ever fair! ☔️

  22. We have been dreary here as well..Do your kitties climb in to your clean laundry??

  23. So nice to see those two sweethearts growing up. We've had a number of dreary days this month too and are heading into 4 or 5 days of rain. At least I have the spring cleaning of the gardens done and can do something constructive inside.

  24. Your yard is beautiful, even with that 'pesky' ground cover. And the picture of Durham Castle?? The way the lights shine on it, yet it's not dark outside yet so you can still see it, that is gorgeous!

  25. Sounds like here, only the period from Oct. to now here has broken all records with the most rain since 1895! Today we actually did some yard work before it started to rain. Lots more of same is on our agenda.....

  30. Hi Judy,
Dreary is a very good way to describe the weather here in Normandy today, so wet and cold with it. Just a couple of weeks ago I was wearing flip flops now it's back to wellies!
I like your photographs of Durham, so atmospheric, I've never been there but have heard good things about the town from friends.
Thanks for joining in with the MM crowd again this week and let's hope that hope the month of May is less dreary for us all.
    Maggie.

  31. Your kittens are so wide eyed and cute! Wish we could share our sunshine and you could sent us some rain. We are dry but things still look green and pretty. Enjoy your week! Hugs!

  32. What beautiful big eyes your kitties have! I'd almost trade our weather with you for a glimpse of daffodils peeking through the mist. So beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I can sympathize with you as we had a super wet April here as well.
The daffodils are quite cheery and those two kittens are just adorable.
