The other day we were at Irvine Park in Chippewa Falls. It was sunny and warm, and everyone seemed to be out picnicking at the park. Most were visiting the zoo there and some were walking the trails. What I wanted to see most was the waterfall. It's so beautiful and relaxing.
To complete the experience, you can click on the YouTube selection below to listen to beautiful Chopin nocturnes while looking at the photos. I had this music on all afternoon and I love it! I know that some of the pieces were used in various episodes of Poirot. I'm pretty sure this is Countess music, and maybe even the very last episode of Poirot.
But I digress.
If you look near the bottom left in the photo above, you'll see a speck of blue out on a rock. The photo below is what I saw when I zoomed in on it. I have no idea who it is, but because his head was turned, I figured it was okay to use the photo. I got such a kick out of this, such a kid thing to do: climbing out onto a rock and messing about in the water with a big stick. Great fun!
Isn't that just the kind of thing you would do, given the chance?
Some people got into the photo above because they'd followed a different trail and ended up sitting on the spillway, or close to it.
From www.chippewacounty.com:
The Sunny Valley School House was moved to Irvine Park in 1965. The School House was originally located in the Town of Wheaton adjacent to Highway 29. Then the town school district merged with the Chippewa Falls School District in 1964, the Town of Wheaton gave the school house to the Chippewa Falls Lions Club. They in turn donated it to the City and moved it to Irvine Park. The Sunny Valley School House was built in 1903 and was used by the school district from January 1904 until 1964.
Just in case you missed this one on Wednesday. :-)
The Rutledge Home. Not in the park, but nearby.

This photo was taken in August of 2012.
Good grief! How those grandkids have grown!
Another August 2012 photo at Irvine Park
Okay, I guess this is where we switch to Tchaicovsky's 1812 Overture. LOL
Hope you all have a great weekend.

I love the photos of your much younger grand kids and that waterfall is beautiful. my 80 year old child would be out there with a stick or even wading in the water.. he got all his adventurous spirit and I got none. the music is not my cup of tea.. think Patsy Cline for me.
ReplyDeleteha ha, you may not even know who Patsy cline IS...
ReplyDeleteLovely, Judy. AND I followed instruction by listening to a little Chopin. As you know, I'm more of an old rocker, but Chopin is simply wonderful. There's something whimsical and haunting about it, like something's about to happen, or maybe did, a very long time ago... And I have also heard of Patsy Cline..not a huge C&W fan, but 'Crazy' is a classic and is in the collection somewhere. Oh, there I am digressing again. Loved the look of the schoolhouse, by the way - much more attractive than anything we were building over here for schoolkids at the time!
ReplyDeleteI saw the waterfall photo on IG when I came in from working outside and just looking at the water helped me feel cooler! Glad you included the little boy being a boy shot! Have a good weekend,
ReplyDeleteThat little guy is doing what most any kid would do, given the chance....unless they had their phone or IPAD with them (sigh). Beautiful photos!!
ReplyDeleteI have driven through Chippewa Falls but never stopped there, Judy. What a great place to visit. I think I have to add it to my "must see places" list. Love the music but then I love classical music....and the very first piece of classical music I listened to was the Overture of 1812.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful weekend- xo Diana
Pretty music and such magical photos. Would love to visit here. Hope you have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo catch of the boy in blue . . .
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures and music!
Judy, You take the best photos. I love your hubby's hair. The little one will probably have papaw's hair when he's that age. Blessings to all of you for a great weekend, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteAren't the little things like a boy poking a stick in the water the ones that make an outing memorable? The saying that kids grow like weeds is sure the truth, I have a 13 year old granddaughter the same height as me - 5'6" and I just know she's going sprout right past me.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful park. LOVE the old schoolhouse. And, YES! Our grandchildren seem to be growing up at the speed of light! wonderful photos! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteLove the falls...Nice old schoolhouse..wonderful photos..pretty music..enjoy your weekend..
ReplyDeleteBeautiful waterfall! And I love the adventurous spirit of that little boy! We recently visited Snoqualmie Falls here in WA State and Sharaya, Allie and I all hiked down to the river below the falls. They ventured right down to the water (with a dozen others!) but I stayed by the trail. I knew my back and knees would not have been happy if I had tried to climb over all those rocks! But the hike alone was a great adventure!
