Hodgepodgeless Winter Wednesday

Looking south from the front porch

The Wednesday Hodgepodge will be back next week. Joyce is taking a little break to see her grandson (and I suppose his parents too). :-)

So, in the meantime... just a few shots of winter, cats, and grandkids.

Although these photos were taken yesterday, the winter landscape at our house looks much the same from December through March. Fortunately, by April we will start to see a big change. I hope.

The weather outside is frightful, but enjoying a fire and a good book is quite delightful.

I might have shown you this one before, since it was taken in December.

Tommy and Smokey, staying warm
You can see that we keep lots of blankets close at hand.

Also delightful was visiting these two last weekend:

Someone enjoyed her chocolate cupcake!
They were delicious.

  1. Such cozy, relaxing pictures. And those grands- always so adorable especially the chocolate cupcake face. :) Tommy and Smokey have the life, don't they? I posted on Tuesday because I thought Tuesday was Wednesday. I'm not sure what I think today is. Sheesh.

  3. Judy, Looks like a lot of snow removal. Brr. You do have some pretty views from your porch. I always love to see your cats. They seem to be best friends. I like your big library. :) Judy, the sweet faces of the grandchildren...that chocolate one just makes me so happy..adorable. I hope you see signs of spring before March is over. Stay warm, in your nice pile of throws,( I keep our throws out too). Blessings, xoxo , Susie

  4. I smiled really big at the cupcake grin, but when i got to Tommy and Smokey I laughed out loud and I just LOVE seeing them together. I want the rocker to the left of the wood pile, the fireplace and most of all that place to read in under the steps. could we have a better shot of that, or better view is what i mean.... i loved your non podge hodge podge

  5. I guess you rarely have a drought with all that snow. April is not too far away ... I can see how you look forward to it. In contrast, your rooms look so cozy and warm and comforting (not to mention the cute grandchildren!) Love your window seat and bed under the stairs! And of course all the books.

  6. I love having a peek at your library!! Such a fabulous room with its red walls, gazundles of books, and cozy reading nooks! One could stay in there for days! Perhaps that would be an easy way to forget all the snow outside your door. (Probably not.)

It's always fun to visit the grands! Is that the little girl who was so sick earlier this winter? She looks fit as a fiddle now!

  8. Oh my goodness that is a lot of snow - and it looks dark.

    I love all your photos.

The cat on the last chair matches it - although it looks like it is falling off the chair a bit.

The kids are ADORABLE - very beautiful children.

And your library as I call it - I love! I love where the staircase is cut out - I just saved a photo of it - I wanted it!

You have a lovely home even in the snow.

  9. Judy... you just gave me a heart attack. I thought I got the wrong week that Hodgepodge was on hiatus!! Love your pics and your house looks so cozy. The perfect place to snuggle up with a good book. Have a great Wednesday!!

  10. I love the library room pictures. I would never want to leave there unless it were to go in the room with all the blankets. Such comforting places.

  11. I can almost feel the warmth in your home! Curling up with Tommy & Smokey under one of those blankets... yes!! The snow is lovely, but you know I don't care if I ever again see snow in person! The grands are adorable - especially that chocolatey face!! :)

  13. You certainly have a wonderful library to while away the afternoon reading in your cozy room! The grands grow so fast! Such cuties with the chocolate smile. Tommy and Smokey look huge on the back of the sofa! Sending you warm sunshine, my friend. ♥

  14. Love that room and your grandkids are adorable. I was complaining that after a beautiful 62 degree day yesterday I woke up to a dusting of snow. It's all gone now fortunately because I am definitely not a winter person. I do love looking at others photos of snow though. xo Laura

  15. Is that library IN YOUR HOUSE?!? Oh my goodness that's gorgeous! I would spend all my time there. (When I wasn't on the front porch.) :)

  19. Oh, Judy!!! I love your red walls!! and is that a day bed in the little alcove? I could so move right into that room!!
And that last photo should win a prize somewhere! Beautiful!
My dear.....my mind boggles at your weather. I can't seem to wrap my mind around it. But perhaps you would feel the same way about Texas summers - especially AUGUST - as I do about your winters. I do love all four seasons.....

  21. Judy, can't get enough of Tommy and Smokey! And love your library. My aunt had one of those antique children's desks (and tons of books) and would have felt right at home with the cats. I hope April will be everything you're hoping for.

  22. Awe, the kiddos are just too cute Judy. Love your library. The red pops and all those books. I love books! I boxed up a bunch to put away that I never read but just could not part with. I did give some away. I am still your "give me a book girl". Hope you have a wonderful day dear Judy. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

Love the peeks into your world and your beautiful family (cutest grands and sweetest kitties!). I could live in your cozy library room!!

Have a blessed weekend ahead. Sounds like warmer temps on the way to melt some of that white stuff. Yippeee!!! xoxo

  24. You are sounding remarkably chipper! I, on the other hand, am ready to pull the blinds so I don’t have to look at snow. We were well on our way to spring when Bam! You’d think I’d be prepared having dealt with this all my life.

Course, if I lived in your cozy home with adorable cats and lots of books...

    Here’s to spring!

  25. Oh, I love your library. Plus, I can't wait to see spring in your neck of the woods!

  26. OH your book filled room! Love it...could get lost there.

The kids are adorable and so are the cozy kitties :) You've have your share of snow this winter!
