We had supper with this sweet 5 year old (grandson) and his baby brother and parents on Saturday evening. You can't really tell from this photo, but this little guy has the bluest eyes!
It's been so long since I've posted anything on Blogger, finding Instagram easier to use when I'm without my computer. But I decided to put up a few photos and let you in on the fun project we're working on at the Wausau house. Also, Terri from Your Friend From Florida blog, who hosts the Wednesday Medley, has just had knee replacement surgery and although her recovery seems to be going well, has decided to take a much-deserved break from the Medley. So until she returns, possibly in October, the Wednesday Medley is on hold.
St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Marathon County, Wisconsin
We were out driving around the Wausau area, and this country church had a great view from the front door - and from its cemetery!
On Instagram this morning, I posted a photo of that church along with the following lyrics from one of my favorite John Rutter songs:
As the bridegroom to his chosen,
As the king unto his realm,
As the keeper to the castle,
As the pilot to the helm,
As the captain to his soldiers,
As the shepherd to his lambs,
So, Lord, art Thou to me.
I'm sure I've posted this YouTube clip before, but I love it, so here it is again.
It's time to pick apples from our McIntosh tree again.
This is the sole surviving tree, thanks to the deer. But then again, the deer are so cute, especially when a doe brings a couple of her fawns to entertain us by playing under the apple tree, early morning or evening.
Too much of a good thing, maybe.
(Neighbor's horse and tree)
One of my favorite spots along my favorite walk. I don't know why I'm so fond of hay bales, but they seem to be featured in many of my photos.
Just a few shots of our current life as DIYers:

Dining In
Spray foam in the joist pockets.
This weekend I've been working with an online kitchen project design program to figure out cabinets and placement thereof. What a pain that is. But it's also pretty exciting when I get to print it out and see the photos. I think this week will be laying floor tile.
And when I get sick of this whole project, I just think of
two of our best motivators (who give us frequent encouraging hugs)
So, between bouts of home construction and during trips back and forth from Wausau to Dallas, I read a lot. An article I've recently enjoyed can be found here: Finding God in All Things
I hope you've had a blessed Lord's Day. I certainly have had. Worship service this morning with Holy Communion, beautiful scenic views with cows this afternoon, and a 'fry' made by Mr. C. for my Sunday dinner.

I'm hoping to reopen my soap shops when we get settled in
and have sold our farmhouse.
So much to do.
Thanks for stopping in today.

I see three beautiful grandchildren there. And you first does have the bluest eyes there.
ReplyDeleteThose scrambled eggs look delish and you don't have to make it.
My favorite photo was the one with the bales of hay - I think you could win a contest with it. There were so many levels of beauty in it and the sun was shining just right.
Love,sandie
You folks have been crazy busy. I am glad that you had a moment to pop in here and say a word or two. As much as I like Instagram, I love words.
ReplyDeleteThe grands are so darling...wonderful encouragements. And Little Blue Eyes there...adorable.
It is so interesting to me that, writing such beautiful music and lyrics as he does, that Rutter is an atheist/agnostic. He says writing hymns is formulaic. Hmmm...I’ve been praying for him for twenty years. I think it would be a particular kick for him to one day meet The One he’s been writing about on good terms.
Keep taking photos of those hay bales and anything else. No one does it just quite like you do!
Pace yourselves now...
I thought the never any ham meal was potatoes, either the one you have or with potatoes I would love it... precious little ones, all three... are you building an apartment in the basement for you and hubby? as in an in law apartment
ReplyDeletehope the beautiful horse doesn't over eat on those apples,
ReplyDeleteJudy, this is a grand post. The apples look so succulent, the views so impressive and your family is so lovely! Best wishes on your construction! Wishing you terrific week!
ReplyDeleteJudy, Your photos are so good, as usual. I know grandkid fun is heart warming. Always does me good. The new house is going to be,just as you want it, so nice. Hope everyone is well. Blessings to all, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenes and yummy treats! LOVE those apples hanging just waiting to be picked! Have a blessed day and don't work too hard:) HUGS!
ReplyDeleteSomewhere I missed that you are renovating the house you purchased. What an effort. Some lovely scenic views in your part of the world.
ReplyDeleteAh - THERE you are! All looking very industrious in the new shack - when designing the kitchen, will you leave space for The Map? Wonderful shots - loved the look of that cake. But what did you do to the pictures of the bales of hay? - it's spectacular.
ReplyDeleteSo good to see you here and to catch up on all you have going on!! Thanks for the beautiful photos and the update!!
ReplyDeleteGreat catching up with you. Loved seeing your photos of the state where I grew up.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures . And nothing like the grandkids ❤️ Yummy looking cake too . Looks like things are coming right along for you . Happy Labor Day to you . Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThanks for updating us, Judy! Your photos are gorgeous, and I'm fond of hay bales, too. Would like to know when they switched over from rectangular to round bales. I'd definitely be willing to try Mr C's special breakfast!
ReplyDeleteGreat post Judy. Lovely to hear all your news and enjoy your pictures.
ReplyDeleteYour DIY projects make me excited and makes me cringe at the same time! But I'm sure it will be worth the effort in the long run. It is kind of exciting to do something new! (Right?)
ReplyDeleteYour breakfast looks wonderful! Scrambled eggs with lots of sauteed veggies is one of my "oops-no-dinner-plan" meals. The one who didn't really like it just got married, so I can fall back on it more often now. ;)
Your kitchen construction is very exciting to see! And I love your photos. I was raised on a farm and our bales were the rectangle kind so I don't quite get the round ones that are left in the fields for so long. Don't they get filled with mice? - And your grandson does have the bluest eyes! The other two are very handsome and pretty too! - I'll try and find you on Instagram.
ReplyDeleteI can see those blue eyes!!! Beautiful church and there is always something peaceful about a cemetery. The apples look delicious. Your photo of the bales of hay is breathtaking. I am always taking photos of the bales of hay as we drive to Montana. Wow, I didn't realize you were working on a DIY project. The kids are adorable and I love all of your photos. I will go back to check out the article you shared. Have a beautiful Saturday.
ReplyDeleteSo I think you must be putting a kitchen in the new house you are moving to? AT first I thought you were working on your old kitchen. It's nice you have a hubby who can do it all!
