When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride
On which the Prince of Glory died
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride
Forbid me Lord that I should boast
Save in the death of Christ, my God
All the vain things that charm me most
I sacrifice them to His blood
Save in the death of Christ, my God
All the vain things that charm me most
I sacrifice them to His blood
See, from His head, His hands, His feet
Sorrow and love flow mingled down
Did e'er such love and Sorrow meet
Or thorns compose so rich a crown
Sorrow and love flow mingled down
Did e'er such love and Sorrow meet
Or thorns compose so rich a crown
Were the whole realm of nature mine
That were an offering far too small
Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all
That were an offering far too small
Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all
In this strange time of social distancing and self isolation, it was such a blessing to 'attend' this Good Friday worship service from St. Andrew's Anglican Cathedral, Sydney, Australia. I hope you will be able to watch it too.
After listening to the sermon, I can easily see why he is Archbishop. Note especially his explanation of God's covenant with Abram.

ReplyDeleteEaster blessings on you and your family. The choir singing and standing while social distancing is amazing and also maybe a harbinger of our lives for a few years. the song you printed here is one from my childhood. we sang it many times, I can tell you our tiny little church sounded nothing like this choir.
