Kevin put up the snow fence last week, and just in the nick of time, it seems. Yesterday morning we awakened to 4 inches of snow on the ground (and 18 degrees).
This is the day which the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
I do have this short verse memorized. I just need to refer to it more often, I think.

Today I need to get some clothes washed and packed, for we're heading out before dawn tomorrow morning for the long drive from NW Wisconsin to Dallas, TX to have Thanksgiving with our daughter and her husband. I checked the mileage, and did you know that it's as far from our house to Dallas as it is from London to Rome? No kidding. And we don't even get to drive through France (but we also don't have to cross the Alps.)
I have some posts scheduled to appear during that time (like tomorrow's recipe for roasted vegetables my favorite!) and I hope to check your blogs. But if you don't see me leaving comments, you'll know that we're busy having a great time, and that I'll be getting back to you next week on the 30th.
I hope our neighbor has his deer by the time we leave. I hate deer hunting season, for my dogs have to be on leads every time they go outdoors during daylight hours. Grrr.
Have a good visit with your family over the holiday. And be safe.
ReplyDeleteThese are the best pictures! So fun to see the snow and your dogs. I had no idea you had all this snow! Indiana has only had a bit of snow so far not even enough to stick. But that is ok since I'm still buying Christmas. Just have to tell you Carson's once Elder Beirman and then Bon Ton is having great sales. If you sign up for a credit card 20% off and another 15% with flyer. The one in Warsaw, Indiana is wonderful. The one in Marion, Indiana awful. So it does matter where you shop. We don't buy a lot but we do like quality. There is my shopping tip for the day. Not that you asked. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like I'd better start getting the house ready for company! :D
ReplyDeleteHave a Happy Thanksgiving and a great trip!
ReplyDeleteHave a safe trip and a lovely holiday! But don't mention that bad "s" word ... snow!
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly is a snow fence??
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful holiday with your family. Safe travels!!
I love to watch the changing of the seasons, to see all the little signs that winter is coming (oor going!). Even though sometimes it seems to take forever!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you need to memorize the verse about "There is a time for everything"! :)
The week you'll be in Dallas I'll be at my folks 3 hours away (I'm leaving Wednesday after work)!! Have a wonderful and safe trip! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! How long are you in town for?
ReplyDeleteI don't suppose there'll be snow in Texas. Have a lovely trip and a happy Thanksgiving with your family.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the safe trip wishes! As far as a snow fence goes, it is a long stretch of plastic mesh (as shown - it used to be made of lath and wire) that is used to cause the snow (in a snowstorm) to drop just beyond it, rather than to keep blowing and drift wherever it wants. The theory is that by putting it somewhat south of the driveway, the snow (coming from the south) will drop just beyond the snow fence before it has a chance to drift onto the driveway and accumulate there.
ReplyDeleteHave a good trip and I am sure there will be no snow in Dallas.
ReplyDeleteWhat's a snow fence? We put markers in our driveway so the plow knows where things are and doesn't take out our back gate...does a snow fence serve a similar purpose?
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Oh my gosh, Judy, those pictures reminded me of the blizzard we had here in Missouri last year! I don't mind the snow from now til Christmas, but after that, I want Spring! Have a safe trip and enjoy yourselves with your family. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteBrrrrr! Safe travels, Judy, and a very Happy Thanksgiviing as well.
ReplyDeleteHave a safe trip. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI love snow.
ReplyDeleteOh my, can't wait until we get our first real snow fall! Looks beautiful. I am home on vacation so today I can write you! Have a blessed Thanksgiving and the drive. I love road trips. Have to take handwork though!
ReplyDeleteBless you sweet friend, Linda
I've never heard of a snow fence! (of course I live in a desert wasteland, so. . .) I love the pictures of the snow and am envious of your 4 inches and 18 degrees!! lol We're over here in our 67 degree weather pretending its fall. :) Have a lovely Thanksgiving with your family.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely not ready for the snow, it always comes too quickly it seems!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a safe trip and a Happy Thanksgiving!
This post reminds me that it was just after this coming weekend that the snow caused so much chaos. I hope you are currently enjoying some warmer moments. Although I am aware of the opposite USA locations of Wisconsin & Texas are, it makes it more real to me when you say London to Rome ... which is far enough on a plane far less a car.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a lovely THanksgiving. It was lovely popping by your blog today. Have a blessed day!
