Neighbor Bill's Barn

I'd never taken a photo of the north end of this barn, so after our 12+ inches of snow over the weekend, I decided to walk to the end of our driveway and get this shot, while the pine boughs are laden with new snow.

Remember the projects I mentioned yesterday? Well, they're still waiting for me. I ended up ripping out 10 rows of knitting and starting again. I've realized that what keeps me knitting when I'd rather set it down, is realizing how much more I'd have done if I'd kept at it.  (That is a terrible sentence, isn't it!)

I hear that the cast of Downton Abbey is going to be on the TODAY show this morning, so I'll watch that segment then turn off the TV and get to work... I mean it!

BTW, As I approached Neighbor Bill's driveway, I saw a bunny sitting very still. I turned my camera on him and this is what I got. :-)

P.S. Just a note as to why so many of these wonderful barns are falling to ruin: 

Unfortunately, those old barns are mostly seen as a liability - both in the sense of being potentially dangerous and in the fact that taxes continue to be levied on all structures, whether or not they're being used (and that includes silos). Any barn in this climate, unless it is heated throughout the winter, will eventually fall into disrepair. When the barns contained herds of warm-bodied cows, that wasn't a problem. But when the cows are gone,  in this harsh climate, we get deep frost (as deep as almost 8 feet, historically) and the annual thawing and heaving of the ground, which destroys the foundations (which is another reason the great abbeys and castles of England wouldn't have survived in NW Wisconsin). Unfortunately, the barn you see in this photo is among those just waiting its time. In this economy especially, very few people can afford to put their money into a barn project. :-(( Sad, but true. But at least I'm getting photos with which to remember them.
