Barn at the south end of the Poor Farm Road
Barron County, Wisconsin
Barron County, Wisconsin
It won't be long now...
By the looks of that roof line, the south wall leaning out, and the boards above buckling, this old barn probably won't stand many years longer.
Not only do I drive past this barn several times a month, but it is in the same neighborhood as the school I attended in first and second grade. At that time, everyone knew his/her neighbors because the kids all attended the same country school. And most of us walked to school - as only the Amish do now.
Stalactite
Stalagmite
Yes, sensible people would probably cut down this poor little plum tree.
And, by the way, WINTER is still here in NW Wisconsin, just in case anyone is asking.
But we're hoping for 40 degrees by Easter Sunday!
We are SO ready!

Beautiful old barn.
ReplyDeleteI love old barns.

beautiful old barn. love the worn spots. such character. ( :
ReplyDeleteOld barns are so interesting.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your images, Judy! The snow just makes me shiver! I surely do hope you have some warmer temps for our early Easter this year. It will take more than 40 degrees for a week to melt all of that stuff, though. Good golly!
ReplyDeleteWe got another 8" of snow dumped on us again yesterday. I've hired a hit man to find that little groundhog!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't weather in the 40's sound like summer time right now?
winter is still here to, but not as cold as yours, but we are having very unseasonable cold temps for Florida. in the 40's tomorrow and highs in 60's which is not our type temps... the rest of the week will be cold for us, but we have a promise from the weather guys of sunshine
ReplyDeleteLove the barn! I always like the way they look--antiquated and nostalgic and all that. And then I get sort of sad to think that they won't be around much longer. We're finally having winter too. Though only with chilly temps and wind. No snow. No snow at all...quit hogging the snow, Judy. LOL
ReplyDeleteLove old barns like that. I see them every so often still when I visit my family in Nebraska.
ReplyDeleteAs for the snow.. it sure looks lovely... but I'll still take our 80 degree weather over it any day!!!
Love the barn even if it has seen better days. We had snow overnight! Boo! Hiss!
ReplyDeleteOld barns just melt my heart. Looks like there is another kind of melting in store for you. It gets to 40 here in Southern California and we think it's the end of the world.....
ReplyDeleteLove the old barn!! Its still winter here also. Need some sunshine so the snow can start melting!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. It is also so big! It's sad that it is falling down.
ReplyDeleteAh yes March in Wisconsin...
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming spring will come sooner or later. ;-)
I love a red barn, crumbling or standing. Down here they rarely paint the barns, just keep them old and tired looking and that way the taxes are less, so I hear.
ReplyDelete40 degrees...living the dream girl, living the dream!
ReplyDelete40 degrees...living the dream girl, living the dream!
ReplyDeleteOh, those old barns - and old plum trees - have such character! The stories they could tell, the sights that they've seen ....
ReplyDeleteOur snow finally melted; your's looks like it will be staying a while longer. That poor old barn does look like its about to cave in.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty picture--barns in snow. People in snow after snow, still pretty to us who haven't gotten anything but a dusting this year, but it must be getting very old. I hope you do warm up for Easter.
ReplyDeleteMy husband looked over at my screen. "What's that?" he said...looking at your picture of your stalactite. Then, " What's that?" for your stalagmite. I told him..."We bloggers are so bored writing about this weather we find interest in many unusual things....now turn around and look at your own computer."
ReplyDeleteBalisha :)
I'm kind of testy this morning :)
We too are looking forward to 40 degrees! It wouldn't be too bad here but for the wind.....
ReplyDeleteNice pics. I'm an old barn lover too. It does make me sad when those structures I've seen my whole life just disappear.
ReplyDeleteHi Judy, you hoping for 40 degrees certainly makes me seem surly complaining about our cold windy 47 degree day today with sun. The barn is lovely. I sent you an email with no answers, sorry. Olive
ReplyDeleteMy hubby loves the barns...gets it honest as he grew up on a farm!
ReplyDeleteWE also have winter here as well. UGH! So so ready for it to be behind us now...
Thanks so much for popping on over!
Such a great photo. GA is having snow flurries today, too!
ReplyDeleteThat barn does look like is has had it;s life - but there is still something wonderful about it.
ReplyDeleteAnd would it help for you to know it was very cold in GA today!!!!!
sandie
I love old barns and this one is so pretty! We have winter here today, too. Hurry Spring!
ReplyDeleteLove the old barn, it is so sad they are going by the wayside. We want the snow melted too!! Coming home the first week of April.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!!
ReplyDeleteLove how our posts are telling a bit of a different side of our remaining snow. :-) Hee Hee
Glad you captured this one before it's gone.
ReplyDeleteWe still have winter in Michigan too, but are hoping to have some melting snow this week. :)
The snow has started melting like crazy here in Montreal - sooo exciting!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of that barn Judy - pinning it on to my Barn ( board )
Have a great Tuesday !
Hugs,
Suzan
Love the old weathered barn! You have a lot more snow than we do. We are expecting 40's by Easter Sunday too.
ReplyDeleteLove that beautiful old barn! I always wonder how roads get their names, but Poor Farm Road does not sound like a story with a happy ending.
ReplyDeleteThe barn definitely has a wave to it but makes for a great photo! : )
ReplyDeleteIt tried to snow here yesterday, but was unsuccessful. I am so ready for spring!
ReplyDeletelove that barn! we have a poor farm road here too!
ReplyDeleteThat's a fantastic barn!
ReplyDeleteWe're hoping for mid-40s later this week (and maybe upper-40s by Easter) here in eastern Iowa.
It would be interesting to watch and see how much longer the barn will stand...it might surprise us all.
ReplyDeleteI hate to see these old barns being neglected. We're having some warmer temps too. It's funny I just saw Amish children walking to school this morning on my way to a quilting class.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful old barn! Oh dear. I think I should never complain about winter again! I hope Spring springs for you soon! SO nice that you stopped by!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from your nearby Minnesota neighbor! We love NW Wisconsin. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd your stalactite & stalagmite cracked me up!!
'Cool' pics! Thanks for sharing this on The Creative HomeAcre Hop!
ReplyDeleteHope you have time to link up again this week!
