Two Favorite Pins - Books, Books, Books!

From Appleday.tumbler.com

Two favorite things from my Pinterest boards are the library above (I want to build one of those bookshelf trees!) and the book spine step risers. Aren't they great! I've emailed my daughters about doing an August project when they come to visit. This would be so much more fun than painting the kitchen cabinets!

And to the right of our steps, near the landing, I'm thinking of opening the wall (taking off the sheetrock on the steps side) and making bookshelves there, next to the landing. Wouldn't it be fun for a grandkid to sit on the landing and reach for a book to read!

  2. holy smoke, YES you do need more book shelves..i really like the tree bookshelves, that should hold a lot of those books.. of course it will take up a lot of space in the middle of a room and i would not like that... maybe in a corner with the trees on three sides. or you could build a library on the ack of your house.

  4. I love books too. Sometimes I buy old books to use as decoration. I have often thought of taking some of the drywall off and make book shelves. You would only want to do an inside wall never an outer wall that blocks out the cold and heat.xoxo,Susie

  7. So, Judy, I was wondering whether you liked books or not? Haha! I had to send the staircase to Breezy---I expect I'll see it on hers soon. :)

  10. That is such a great idea. My middle daughter would do that in a heartbeat if she had the stairs and space to do it. She has been a bookworm all of her life!

  11. I LOVE these ideas. Are those all the books you have, woman? Time to go shopping!

  12. I love the books on the step risers. That is a great idea that I have also seen on Pinterest. The bookshelf tree is also fun, but I would not have room for it. As my shelves filled up, I would clean them out and donate them to one of the assisted living residences in town. Now I only buy books for my Kindle. I have 600+ books on my Kindle and don't have to dust them or move them around! :)

Keep us posted about that project with the kids! Sounds like fun!

  17. I've just started spending a little time with pinterest. Now you have me going in another direction...books! We have plans for a library in our dining room but we don't have shelves up yet. I guess I'll go see what I can find! Hugs!

  18. Oh I love those photos Judy and I agree, forget the cabinets!
No stairs here, drat! I am dreaming of something like that!
And if all those books are yours, I have to agree with you (again): Time to seek space for those!
    All the best Dear,

  19. Yes, you need a bookshelf or two. I am thinking about cleaning out and living more simply with less stuff for myself. Painting is on my agenda but will have to wait until the family moves out - hopefully July 1.

  23. I love that library and you should try to make it or the one under the stairs. I love books too, and we have a library. I also keep a pinterest board of home libraries. It's one of my boards with the most images.

  24. HI I loved the book tree in the library. For me with having so many book, I would rather share my books with others rather than making room for more unless you have an enormous house to house them, then your idea would be a good one. Margaret

  26. Haha, I thought my house was bad, that's a serious problem you have. A tree is a natural bookcase , after all ... not so much money but ... paper grows on trees !!
