July especially, but also early August, has the best sunny days in Northwest Wisconsin with beautiful blue skies and huge, puffy white clouds. This photo is of the Amish neighbor's shocks of oats. They look like they've been rained on a couple times. They'll eventually dry, and then they'll be processed through a threshing machine to separate the oats from the straw. (Thank you Mr. C.)
Summer in Wisconsin is always incredibly busy. We have so much living to cram into three short months, and it's a bit depressing that we're already into August. There are also FIVE of our family birthdays in August and a garden that looks like its tomatoes and beans are going to be ready for harvest for canning (as well as daily dinners) this month. Lots to do, lots to do. Blogging is getting farther down on the list, I'm afraid.

Ive been feeling so overwhelmed and a bit mean. shhh
I sure have missed my blog friends.

Oh my, friend...you sure can make me smile...beautiful photos and I love the grand baby, smiles. Busy time here for the farmers too, fall/winter will be upon us too, sooner than later. Blessings
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful photos Judy...and you are right about those lovely clouds. A bright blue cloudless sky is very lovely but I much prefer some puffy clouds to make the picture complete! I wonder who it was that messed with your blog and accidentally put that last photo in?? What a li'l cutie pie :)
ReplyDeleteHello, It is a busy time of year for you! I sure enjoyed the sweet photo of your little visitor! Beautiful photos from around your area, too. Enjoy every minute of what is left of summer with your family. I'm taking a blog break but I'll still be visiting. xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful photos, great scenery indeed. Greetings!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetie! I'm sure you're both having fun today. Love your photos! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteThree thoughts concerning this post. 1. You should send your photos to the Wisconsin Travel Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce. 2. Have you ever thought of doing a post on photo tips? I could use it. 3. I just want to jump through that photo and squeeze those sweet cheeks of that gorgeous grandbaby of yours!!
ReplyDeleteGREAT pictures, Judy..from the barn to the kid to the other KID....lol Looks like joyfully mischievous to me! lol xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what the first two photos were. Didn't think anyone put their wheat/oats in sheaves like that anymore. Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of a serene and peaceful country side. That baby is the sweetest thing! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteJudy
I enjoyed seeing the farming scenes in your neighbourhood Judy. It really is beautiful there. I feel the same as you regarding our short summer season here and it's going too fast. What a sweet pic of your grand baby. Enjoy the summer days and all the canning/freezing/eating of the harvest. Blessings. Pam
ReplyDeleteJudy, how interesting that you live near an Amish neighborhood. There is an Amish movie that I've watched, and it is a beautiful story about forgiveness. I cry every time. This is such a vast countryside, and looks so very peaceful.
ReplyDeleteaahh, your little one is precious. This picture is a treasure. I hope you are enjoying the rest of the summer days. And then comes my favorite month, Autumn.
Have a good week, Judy.

Oh I know Judy! It feels like we go at mach speed in August to fit everything in! It is crazy how fast it's gone and that we are facing September around the corner. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteI always love your photos. It's so beautiful around there. And that grandbaby is the most beautiful of all. ;)
Don't work too hard and make sure you relax too and soak up some final summer sunshine moments. xo
Judy, I loved all the photos. The farms are so wonderful. My favorite pic is that little sweetie pie. You probably wore yourself out hugging on him. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteI live in Lancaster County, PA so I recognize the look of Amish farms. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour little grand is cute! Enjoy!
Deanna
I think the look on your little precious one says "I know you are wrapped around my finger and will do anything for me"!! So darn cute! Love your other photos too, but that last accidental one made me smile back at him!
ReplyDeleteWisconsin just looks like Wisconsin, doesn't it. More trees up north, though.
ReplyDeleteNot sure about that grandson photo--there is some look but it's hard to tell for sure! Sweet goat--your farm photos are amazing--hard to believe there is a farm on Fifth Avenue! Enjoy all your blogging distractions. Our hot weather is going nowhere, but people certainly seem focused on fall now and school starts soon for some. It seems so rushed to me. I'm glad I don't have to go back to school!
ReplyDeletereally nice pictures.
ReplyDeleteI love that wee face!
ReplyDeletei love those puffy clouds of august. :) lovely farms and liked the shocks, too. thanks for the one lonely fence shot. ;)
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful - the sky - the grass - the hay - everything - but the best was your grandson.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful summer scenes!
ReplyDeleteWonderful collection of images. I love the farm scenes, hay and the cute goat. And yes, your grandson stole the show, he is a sweetie. Enjoy the rest of your week!
ReplyDeleteYou do sound busy! Yep, I cannot believe we are already into August! Gosh, how did that wonderful photo of that cheery face end up in your post? Very , very cute!
ReplyDeletelooks like a gorgeous day. love the clouds. what a cute goat. are goat cute? i think so. ha. ha!! love the shot of your grandson. so so handsome cute. ( :
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures... especially that sweet little one that got in there by mistake:) Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteAgain, the most beautiful pictures (especially the "accidental" one!), have me longing for farm life! I had no idea that's what oats look like.
ReplyDeleteI love this time of year in Wisconsin too! And sadly, we do need to cram everything in! Would love to have a neighbor like that, the oats are beautiful and once in awhile a little sweet face shows up in my blog posts too. What a cutie!
ReplyDeleteThings we have in common:
ReplyDelete1) Crazy-busy August...filled with birthdays!
2) Blogging/commenting time is getting scarce.
3) The cutest photos of little people find their way into our blogs! ;)
So glad you shared some more the Amish world. I enjoy and admire their talent. I LOVE that sweet baby. Seems you should just reach in give a kiss.
ReplyDeleteHi Judy,
ReplyDeleteI am taking a blog break the next week. You said it, August is busy. And you are right, we need to soak up this last month of summer.
Love your photos.
Have a blessed week!
Carla
Beautiful pictures of the farm and fields. Of course we have the same short span of time to get things done here in Michigan. I always enjoy seeing the Amish farms- they're usually very neat and take you back in time. We have 5 birthdays in August too! The pumpkin spice soap sounds wonderful! I joined the Good Fences today for the first time!
ReplyDeleteCutie pie! The farms are gorgeous and I would love to have views like that to see on a Sunday afternoon drive. Nothing around here to match that though.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
The shocks make me think of fall and Halloween..Bring it on!! What a cute little smiley face..Enjoy your day..
ReplyDeleteSweet, sweet baby!
ReplyDeleteI love the farm photos, so beautiful.
Beautiful scenic views and a baby that stole the show in the end :)
ReplyDeleteI've not seen "shocks" before and found that very interesting.
ReplyDeleteYou captured some lovely farms and corn fields and a nice fence too. The show stopper though was that cutie at the end.
He looks so sweetly innocent that it must be "pure joy." Have a tomato or ten for me...no local tomatoes ready here yet.
ReplyDeleteLovely veiws around these farms adn that is one cutie in thelast shot
ReplyDeleteHaving grown up in Michigan I thoroughly understand the concept of cramming those summer months full of outdoor fun. I loved the glimpses of your area. So pretty and peaceful looking.
ReplyDeleteYour little visitor is adorable.
Thank you for your recent visit. I answered your question about the purple peppers in comments, but in case you didn't see it, I'm sorry to say I don't know the name of them. We bought them from a farmer's market in May and there were no tags with the plants. The farmer pointed out her different offerings and we chose based on what sounded interesting. I guess I should have jotted down the names as this middle aged brain doesn't seem to retain that info for long. Ha!
Oh Judy what a joy to see that last photo you's sneaked in ... adorable.
ReplyDeleteI do like all your other photo's too.
All the best Jan
Interesting that the clumps of oats and straw are called shocks and do thank your husband for explaining what happens.
ReplyDeleteCute little faces are always welcome in Blogdom, they bring happiness to our screens.
I must say that that picture that squeezed in there is wonderful...my pic of all the wonderful pics. I love that little face.
ReplyDeleteJudy,
ReplyDeleteCute baby picture!!
I love that farmland!
xoxo
Wonderful skies and farm landscapes.
ReplyDeleteYour guest is a cutie.
Happy weekend, Judy :)

Is this a look of pure joy
ReplyDeleteor one of mischief?
Yes!!
;-)
Aw, gee, I wonder how that baby picture got in there! ;) I have an August birthday, too. I remember those hot August days, keeping an eye on the canner's pressure gauge while more batches were being processed in the cool of the basement. Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteLove all the photos, it's nice to see a valleys and the little baby is cute. Looks like you have an awesome family. Everybody looks happy in the photo. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteHello Judy, just stopping back to say thank you so much for linking up and sharing your post. Enjoy and have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt's so lovely in your corner of the world, Judy! Beautiful photos..especially of the sweet little guy! ♥
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful spot you live in. The summer months seem to show it's best colours. I like the goat photo although I'm sure the poor fellow would like to get off that chain. I guess goats are known to get into mischief, too. You do sound very busy this time of year as I'm sure you have a large garden. I just have a few plants this year and the tomatoes are going crazy. Must be the sunny days and rainy nights. Loved your photos, Judy. I always look forward to your posts when you have time. What a darling face that is. :) Deb
ReplyDeletewe visited here recently for our balloon adventure, it is such beautiful countryside. and the view from above can not be beat!!!!
