On this day theme...
1. On this day in 1908, Billy Murray hits the charts with his “Take Me Out to The Ball Game”. Did you watch the MLB playoffs, and are you watching the World Series?
Believe it or not, as a kid I would watch one baseball game on the television while holding my transistor radio up to my hear to hear another one that was being played at the same time. Must have been the Yankees on one and the San Francisco Giants on the other. These days, I could hardly care less, although baseball definitely seems like a much more civilized sport than football. (I know, I know. It's just me. I live in Packers land (isn't that all of Wisconsin??) and can hardly imagine a worse punishment than spending an entire afternoon at Lambeau Field. To me, Green Bay is all about Seroogy's Chocolates, Uncle Mike's Bake Shoppe (their sea salt and caramel and their raspberry kringler are my favorites! And they even do mail order, but I don't dare get started with that!) and Duck Creek Vineyard and Winery. (But mostly about our daughter and SIL before they moved to Madison.) No, honest!
2. On this day in 1962, “The Manchurian Candidate”, directed by John Frankenheimer, starring Frank Sinatra and Laurence Harvey, was released. What is your favorite Frank Sinatra song?
Well, it would be 'Girl From Ipanema,' if sung by Sinatra and Antonio Carlos (Tom) Jobim. Sinatra on his own, not so much. Together, definitely. Great accompaniment, nice smooth Brazilian jazz sound. I listened to it on YouTube. One commenter wrote, 'Story of my entire life.' LOL By the way, I've liked that song ever since it first came out in the mid 1960s. I mentioned to Mr. C. that at least it had harmless lyrics. He said, 'Yeah, with all those men panting after that girl.' What??! Oh... yeah. Well, okay. Well, anyway I like the sound a lot! Let me know if you do.
Would you chase cats away just so you could selfishly make the bed??
3. On this day in 1968, Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithful were busted for pot and released on £50 bail. Has your state approved the sale of medical marijuana? In a nutshell, what are your thoughts on the subject?
No, I don't think Wisconsin has, but I'm not really up on those things. My thoughts on the subject are that of course it should be approved. I would imagine that the only thing that keeps it from being approved for medical purposes is the huge drug lobby.
4. On this day in 1979, the Guinness Book of Records presented Paul McCartney with a rhodium disc as the all-time best-selling singer-songwriter. What is your favorite song by Paul McCartney?
'Hey, Jude' (but of course!)

5. On this day in 2017, Albert Einstein’s “Theory of Happiness” written on a note as a tip for a bellboy in 1922, sold for $1.6 million. His Theory of Happiness is: “A calm and modest life brings more happiness than the pursuit of success combined with constant restlessness.” Was Einstein right?
And who thought bellboys didn't make money. Wow! And of course what Einstein said was true. Even liberty and the pursuit of happiness don't make us happy if we continue to think that life is all about us.

6. Tell us something random about your week so far…
We're having beautiful weather here. Chilly, but beautiful, a typical October week. Maple leaves dropping like crazy, mums and pumpkins being covered each night, wood being split for the Great Winter Woodpile, meatloaf and squash dinners being made, journal being neglected, walks in the neighborhood being enjoyed, Mr. C's trips to the physical therapist for his much-abused shoulders, cats being held.
My little snuggle buddy.
He's just like a puppy, running to the door to greet us when we return.
Thank you, Terri, for another installment of Wednesday Medley!!

Hello, cute shot of your grandson reading in your library. I am not ready to see snow just yet. The fall colors are beautiful there. Love the sweet kitties, it is nice they like to snuggle. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun read, Judy. AND----Hellooooo--- Seroogy's and Uncle Mikes? We are less than 2 minutes away from Uncle Mikes' Bake shop now. It is so dangerous I close my eyes as I go past it....well, if I am driving I only close the eye closest to the store. And Seroogys!!! OH MY! Best candy I have ever had anywhere. I dream about their salted caramels and the store, itself, is fun to visit.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Wednesday- xoDiana
Another good post and interesting answers, not to mention beautiful photography, cute grands and snugly kitties. I am not going to tell you how envious I am of your colorful leaves. I'll let you know when it happens here.
ReplyDeleteJudy, Love the pictures. I used to watch baseball on TV with my dad. I used to go to kids games long ago. Of all sports on TV baseball is my favorite. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI'm not ready for snow yet, but I do love seeing sweet photos of children watching it come down. I'm looking forward to the day when all stated have medical marijuana. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteWhat's not to love about a cat that runs to greet you?! That is the sweetest thing!
ReplyDeleteOkay, probably the grandson reading in your library is sweeter.
But still . . .
Two baseball games at once huh? That's a real talent. Loved your answers and your sweet pictures. Best of all is kids loving books. You should frame that shot.
ReplyDeleteOh Judy... The Girl From Ipanema reminds me so much of my Dad. Thanks for the memories. I love you barn pic, as always. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteI love you snuggly little cat! Soooo cute! I too am enjoying the walks around the neighborhood...just a different neighborhood...LOL!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THE PIC OF YOU AND THE PUPPY/CAT/Snuggle Bunny... that is priceless, he is sooo beautiful. wish I could hug him to... I agree with Einstein, do not like Frank but hubby loves him. Florida voted to approve the sale of medical marijuana more than a year ago, I voted yes and it passed but they are still dragging their feet while people suffer.
ReplyDeleteI love that picture of you and Tommy. He looks so happy and content. And I totally agree with you on the football thing! ugh!
ReplyDeleteTommy is gorgeous, but I would be sneezing my head off.
ReplyDelete“A calm and modest life brings more happiness than the pursuit of success combined with constant restlessness.” Was Einstein right? YES
I think they should legalize medical marijuana too.
Hope you stay warm - it is even getting cool here in GA.
Love, sandie
Well, it's pretty obvious how much Tommy loves his mama. What a sweet picture. And great answers to all!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in on the Medley!! I will keep working on the linky thing. I enjoyed your answers and love all of Sinatra's songs. I also love Hey Jude. Good one! Your cats are so beautiful!! None of our current three will be held like yours. I miss my babies who used to love hanging on my shoulder. Speaking of that, hope Mr. D's shoulder gets better with the therapy! Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteThe Girl from Where? No, not a fan, but I do enjoy listening to the Buena Vista Social Club. Very relaxing. That photo of you and Tommy...so sweet...hope Smokey doesn’t get jealous. Darling boy reading... What an extensive library for your grands.
ReplyDeleteOh, I loved that picture of you and your kitty! So snuggly, I miss having a cat. It's been a few years and the only thing stopping me is my job. I'm so busy lately that just the thought of having to care for an animal stops me dead in my tracks. But yours looks so cute!!
ReplyDeleteThat last picture is just precious!!! Enjoyable answers!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of you and your kitty! So sweet! I enjoyed your answers! These are such great questions. Happy Wednesday!

Oh, Judy, I can't stand it! That picture of you and Tommy is adorable!! Now I can't remember what the rest of the post was about. :-)
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed this, Jude...I mean, Judy. ;-) My favorite song of Paul's was Let it Be. His mom apparently used to say that to him and he recalled a phone call where he needed advice and she told him to let it be and it changed his life. Awwww. :)I'm a sucker for stuff like that plus it's a great song. Your photos are gorgeous and love the one of you and Tommy. Those orange tabby boys are so adorable.
ReplyDeleteStopping by . . .
ReplyDeleteCan’t play today . . .
Love your children’s (grands) library corner . . .
Like WONDERFUL . . .
I would curl up there too.
And the picture with your “cuddles” . . .
I LOVE . . . LOVE!
A fun read today, Judy! You did a nice job with the answers to the questions. I had another post that came to mind for Wednesday so did that instead of the medley this week. Enjoyed all of your photos as always!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this and all the extra grandchild and kitten photos you tucked in. Hope you continue with the good weather for awhile. I think I'm with you on Hey Jude ...
