Our oldest son and his two oldest boys visited last weekend. It was so much fun to have them here! Stacey, the girls, and Baby Glenn held down the fort in Minneapolis.
I am not one of those grandmas who carries around photos of their grandkids in their wallet and flips it open at the slightest provocation. I reserve my grandkid photos for this blog - and my refrigerator door. And since it's my blog, I get to write what I want. :-)
As usual, Gpa makes bacon and eggs for breakfast. I think it's a little too early in the morning to get very excited over food.
Checking the hitch, making sure this rig is 'roadworthy'
On the trailer, at the top of our hill
Finishing the great trip around the alfalfa field
Playing with toy Army men, Saracens, and Crusaders with a few cars and tanks thrown in. All found in a card catalog drawer, of course.
This child was thrilled to sit on the old 'Johnny Popper,' as he called it. It's not a John Deere, but to him, apparently any old tractor is a Johnny Popper. :-) He spent the last ten minutes of his visit with us, passionately pounding his fist on the kitchen counter, trying to persuade Gpa to get him some tools so he could fix the Johnny Popper! It was the cutest thing. Everyone knows a three year old is perfectly capable of diagnosing and fixing any problem a tractor might have, right?
He was practically sleep walking, and near tears because he was so tired! We later found out that on the way home to Minneapolis, he fell asleep in the car less than a mile from our house! :-)

What a special visit, filled with wonderful memories in the making! My parents live in the country and have all the tractors and wagons etc. Makes me miss them!! That's so cute how all tractors are Johny Popper. You have a wonderful family!
Aaaahhh....life in the country is so laid back and relaxing. Everyone looks so happy! Isn't family great???
I guess you fell in love with your grandchildren first sight...smiles
my uncle used to let me sit on his tractor when i was a child - and i loved it!
thanks for stopping by my blog
They're so cute!! I LOVE seeing your family pictures (and reading your side notes... "since it's my blog I get to write what I want." That made me chuckle)! And can I just say the view from your house is AMAZING!!!!
Those grandsons are absolutely precious! Out of our 12 I only have 3 grandsons, so I'm not quite as adept at grandmothering boys for some reason. They just don't like tea parties! But it looks like gpa knows how to entertain those boys. Blessings to you and yours. (We just had our August tea party, and if I ever get around to it, I'll post it. I've been really busy with other things lately.
Looks like they had a blast! :D Thank you for sharing part of your life with your grandchildren.
Sounds like a fun visit! Great photos, too. We've done that trip from Chicago to MPLS with 3 little ones....sleeping is good!
You have a hill? Wow!...I have a postage stamp sized backyard with a view of the backside of my neighbor's house. Pictures of your property make me feel less claustrophobic for sure! It looks like you had a wonderful visit with your sweet grandsons. :)
Blessings,
Sue
mmmm i can't wait to have sommmma dem some day (i mean i CAN wait… you know what i mean!). those boys are adorable.
i saw a card catalog for sale on craig's list. it was 80 bucks. i couldn't justify it… but i doooooo want it!!
oh, and ps…
the view at your place is AMAZING!! where in wisconsin do you live?? (i grew up in appleton)
And since he has spoken about "fixin' the Johnny Popper" here at least one million times, I think Kevin had better make sure he has all the parts next time the boys are out. ;D
"Soren, who is this?" (Pointing to final picture)
"That's me!"
"And what are you doing?"
"I'm trying to start Johnny Popper, but I don't know how."
"What do you think you have to do to start it?"
"We gotta FIX Jonny Popper!!!!"
Your family is so precious. Glad you got to enjoy time with them sweetie.
What a nice time to spend with your family. The pictures are great! You can see how much fun you all had! I love family get togethers! Have a great night!
Mama Hen
A child asleep that fast is proof of time well spent:) Love the wagon pics... My dad would always hitch up a wagon for me and my sis as a kid :)
What a fun weekend...and what stunning views!!!!!!
What better reason to have a blog than to get to post whatever YOU want to (love it!)!!
I love the photos and the story is a sweet one. Don't we LOVE to have our grand-children come?! I also love the photo of Kevie and the boys. I remember when he was that age and some how it doesn't seem that long ago. :D
