Little by Little - Recovery Update

It's been so encouraging to read all your nice comments. Thank you, friends!  I'm doing my regular, 2ce daily physical therapy, involving lots of exercises designed to get those hip, thigh, leg muscles working again, lots of rest, and lots of ice packs. (I found that doing physical therapy four times a day was working against me. I don't know what I was thinking.) Hopefully soon I'll be able to sit for a longer stretch of time and actually get back to your blogs that I love to visit.

December 30th was the perfect time for hip replacement, because it's not like I want to be out in the weather now anyway - this weather that doesn't seem to want to quit!

I hope you're having a wonderful start to our new year.

I miss you all!

You'll be glad to know that
I have an excellent chef! :-)

That's good news! Always good to have someone taking good care of you. Glad that you are taking it day by day. Four sessions a day? That is rigorous. It is good that you have found your proper pacing and soon this recovery time will be a thing of the past and you'll be doing the things you enjoy without pain. Then it will all be worth it.

It sounds like your healing is going well, and twice a day for physical therapy sounds excellent to me. Good to know you have a great chef.

That is good news! Be careful on the ice when you have to go to PT! Sending more prayers.

I had something done before the end of the year too, and I'm getting better!

So glad to hear that you are on the come-back trail! I have to say that, with temps at -31, I am no longer jealous of your winter weather. LOL
Stay warm and give your body the healing time it needs!

So glad you are on the mend. Keep pushing onward, and you will soon be skipping through the springtime tulips!

It is a trial of patience, isn't it? Twice a day for physical therapy is usually sufficient. Keep working at it! You should definitely turn a corner in about another week, since it takes a while for the swelling to go down and the healing to work its magic. I'm keeping you in my prayers!

How lovely to have someone cook for you! I am glad that you are on the mend. You need to watch those physical therapy people - some times they push too hard.

My husband had hip replacement surgery on Dec. 26th. He's 78 and a big man. He had the anterior approach where they don't cut through the muscles...just using a special surgical table...move the muscles around to get at the hip. He's still pretty swollen and has just started PT out of the home. The first two weeks we had a PT come to the house because of the weather.
I hope you do well in your recovery. Be careful on the ice.

As Mary Poppins says, 'Well began is half done.' I know that therapy is hard work, but hopefully you will be finished and back to a better feeling you.

Glad you are doing well. Don't over-do the therapy!! There seems to be a misconception that if 2x a day is good, than 4x a day would be twice as good.... but that isn't the case in this situation. In fact it can set you back a bit!! This is one time in your life that you are actually TOLD to get rest and take your time. Time and rest are the best healers of all. Isn't having that constant hip pain gone wonderful?? It is truly a blessing. Stay warm as it seems we are in for a couple more rounds of polar temps through the week and next weekend. Sun today is a true blessing!!

Yay! Glad to hear all is well. Stay warm this week. Another cold blast coming our way. I think after we braved the last one, this should be a piece of cake. Right? :-)

I have been wondering how you were doing and what stage of the game you are. Still in PT? Are you on a walker or cane? Is the major pain gone? Can you cross your legs? I never put ice on mine - good idea. Are you okay? Love, sandie

Magali@TheLittleWhiteHouse said...

At least, it seems from your picure that finding ice isn't an issue where you live! Get well soon!
