England - Gates

Near Dorstone, Herefordshire

Mole Gate - West of Leyburn in North Yorkshire

at Ironbridge - leaving the churchyard - or not

in Richmond, North Yorkshire

Lower Slaughter in the Cotswolds

Ludlow Castle - Shropshire

Stanton, in the Cotswolds

Cambridge

On Pitt Road, Herefordshire

Yorkshire - Lambing Season

Stanton

Kissing Gate - Little Rissington
Yeah, a few years ago
at St. John's Church

Skipton Castle

Okay, this is stretching it a bit...

Traitor's Gate - Tower of London
(one boat ride you don't want to take)

Buckingham Palace

As you can see, I was trying to come up with a theme for this week's travel post. I think you can understand why I found these particular gates interesting.

Of all the gate photos, I think the one with the moles hanging from it is still my favorite.

Have a good weekend, everyone! :-)

I love the first picture! And you posted my favorite picture(Stanton)again! They are beautiful.
The sheep are so cute. I didn't realize Buckingham Gate was so ornate. Did you go in?

Missed the moles on the first pass; I guess they got what they deserved? They are SO destructive for such little critters!

Great themed post from all over the country also showing the associated differing architecture and landscape. I've never been to Ludlow before but that's another story in itself which I may tell you another time. The gates made me think of the reasons why they are there, some are ornate & welcoming & others like the traitors gate are not ! At first I thought that the moles were birds sitting on the fence & I had to scroll back & realised that they would probably be sitting on the top bar anyway. It's another deterrent gate and an ingenious way that the farmer has of keeping people out of his field !

I love the photos. The sheep are beautiful. I can understand why James Herriot spoke of the Dales so fondly. Your photos are wonderful, you should do a coffee table photo book.
