Armored Vehicles Coming to a Neighborhood Near You

Surely this must be the answer.

From the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram:

"...a large armored vehicle once used by the U.S. military in Kuwait is on loan to the Eau Claire County sheriff’s office.

“It’s another tool for us to use,” Sheriff Ron Cramer said Monday after rolling up in the sand-colored vehicle that weighs between 46,000 and 48,000 pounds. “It’s on loan to us as long as we need it.”

"The Dunn and St. Croix county sheriff’s offices also have received similar vehicles. While Cramer and Dunn County Sheriff Dennis Smith hope they never have to use those vehicles, they’re grateful they have the armored machines, which arrived in west-central Wisconsin a few weeks ago, if needed."

The President came out yesterday after the most recent spate of violence and remarked, 'Our levels of violence are off the charts. No other developed country would put up with this.'

Unfortunately, many people seem to think that the solution is to ban guns from law-abiding citizens and make sure that local law enforcement has armored vehicles for risky situations. (I'm wondering if State Troopers are also going to be given armored vehicles, for after all, that's a pretty risky job, stopping a vehicle when you don't know what might be facing you when that window is rolled down).

How about looking at the cause of the violence in this country, rather than putting band aids on a gushing wound.

We promote the killing of our unborn, support violence on TV and video games, and try to numb our despair with drugs and alcohol.

What is Hollywood doing about this culture of violence? They talk out of both sides of their mouths, condemning violence while taking paychecks for making violent movies.

What are doctors doing about this?

This was from 2011:

"...the rate of antidepressant use in this country among teens and adults (people ages 12 and older) increased by almost 400% between 1988–1994 and 2005–2008. The federal government’s health statisticians figure that about one in every 10 Americans takes an antidepressant."   - health.harvard.edu
(And have you seen the long list of side effects from antidepressants? like suicidal thoughts and/or violence?)

We are a culture of violence. And should we be surprised?

For decades, we've been trying to convince ourselves that there is no God. Children are not taught that they are made in the image of God and thereby have intrinsic value, regardless of race, circumstances of birth, intellect, or physical characteristics. They are not taught to love the Creator and Sustainer of all things who loves them and knows even the number of hairs on their head, who has prepared unimaginable things for those who love Him.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  - Jeremiah 29:11

Do we need armored vehicles? or do we need to listen to the Word of God that tells us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength - and our neighbor as ourselves, to love the only God who gives us hope and a future.

What a thought provoking post.

I heard the president today and agree that crime is escalating at great neck speed. Some have become hardened to violence in what they view, read, play etc.

You couldn't have said it better.

Yes, well Mr. Large and in Charge should take a good long look at all that he does to promote division and strife. I also think that the mentally ill in this country have it rough because their families are unable to get them help as perfectly illustrated in recent weeks. It should not be that when a loved one goes off the wall, that family members and friends can't have him or her spend some time at Shady Acres to regain some equilibrium. Getting down from the soap box now... Gheesh! You and Debbie at Words on Wheels!

I tend to think that when they took prayer out of the schools and when hollywood started making more and more violent movies that that was the turning point that turned out kids into murderers.

first i had heard about the loan of the tanks...our country is down the tubes and sliding deeper and deeper each day.. 12 year old children plotting to kill friends at school..
like you, I think the answer is God but we are in the minority.

Oh dear . . . don't get me started . . . we are fast losing our freedoms in the name of so-called security. those tanks aren't going to save us. We need to turn back to God.

Oh I love this! Preach it!! Canada is the same and it has hit very close to home this past week. There was violent shooting in my hometown of Moncton, NB last week where 5 RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) officers were shot, 3 of them mortally. The city was basically locked down for almost 3 days while a manhunt was on to find the shooter. He was eventually surrounded and captured without further incident and loss. There are 3 grieving families and 6 children that will not have their father, one of them unborn. I am not against guns. It's not guns that kill; it's people that kill. Take away the guns and they will find another way to kill. The shooter was raised in a Godly home and was homeschooled but something happened. He changed. His family is devastated. They called the police about him before but the police 'couldn't do anything about it'. Then it was too late. Too late for the first responders to a man with weapons walking through quiet neighbourhood streets. They didn't stand a chance. They didn't have a tank to defend the police but they did use armoured trucks (i.e.Brinks). We (Canada and the US) are going down a very steep path very quickly. We need to pray for our leaders and our countries. Sorry for the rant, Judy. I've been holding this in I guess. God Bless. Pam

We can't stop praying for answers. I am wondering where is the parenting in our nation. Drs. are to quick to hand out pills. Good grief , most people just need to toughen up. So we pray for them too. xoxo,Susie

Praise our God that we do have a future and a hope!! All of these things are reminders that we, His children, are citizens of another world! We are sojourners...

I'm in agreement with every word you said.

Yours is the second blog-post I read today that points out the need for being in the word.

Loved reading this, and I agree with you 100%. Amen!! And Jeremiah 29:11 is my favorite Bible verse (one of them, anyway). My American Cancer Society, Relay For Life team was Jeremiah's Friends and that verse was why we walked. Awesome post!

I hate what our country is coming to, Judy. It is just so sad. There is so much inner strife and those in power that do things to just serve the powerful and leave regular men to live as best they can. It is sad and scary what is happening all around us. AND you are right about Hollywood talking out of both sides of its mouth-xo Diana

I agree with everything you said! The conspiricist in me can't help but think, the reason these armored vehicles are on loan...the president taking a stance on our constitutional rights, is that these vehicles will be used on - us - law abiding Christians who hold tight to our "bibles and guns." Think about the possibility.

I'm not getting into debates about guns or God - tricky territory, both - but do you REALLY need an armoured car to help with law enforcement? They're thinking of introducing water cannon in London. What a sad world, in many ways. I think you have a very good point about gratuitous violence on the screen, by the way.

Wow, I didn't see that big finish coming but a classic piece of writing, that it even makes the armoured vehicle at the start of the post seem ridiculous.
