The Iron Gate Mystery - Good Fences

Beautiful gate, someplace where it snows

I have no idea why this photo wasn't labeled properly. It was in my files, and I tried to find it in sequence, so I could determine the location that way. Here's what I usually do with my photos:

Take photos, and at the end of the week/day, upload them to the computer, filing them under the month's name, e.g. NOVEMBER 2014. Then I do whatever I want to edit the photo, including resizing it for my blog, and save that second photo with several appropriate tags and the month folder which the original is in.

So this photo should have had a file extension with a name like this: gate brick snow england (or wherever), November 2014.  But it didn't.

So now I'm just guessing. Maybe it's the J.J. Hill House in St. Paul...but no, I looked that up and it doesn't look quite right. Then I thought maybe it was the Congdon Mansion in Duluth, MN, but that doesn't look right either. Wherever it is, I do like the gate and that beautiful house, especially those windows on the main floor.

I hope that if this belongs to someone else, they don't sue me.

 In Ironbridge, Shropshire

 Ironbridge, Shropshire

You can see why I'm thinking that the mystery photo could have been taken in England. Then again, I guess they don't have a monopoly on iron gates and brick houses (but I think they do, on drystone walls).

To  my dear cousin Bobby in Great Falls, MT, I am sorry that it is so cold at your house. Minus 4 degrees F. We're at a balmy 22 degrees here in NW Wisconsin.

Does it make any sense that I'd think they look British? Guess not.

No matter, they're great photos Judy.

HI Judy They do look a bit British however I do love the iron work and the stone walls.

That is a beautiful fence, no matter where it is!!

Very nice shots!

Great shots. I love your mystery house. If it's in Britain, it's somewhere they don't automatically build in stone. Picking up on a theme from your other readers, I'd say it looks American; but then I could just be feeling a tad mischievous...

Well it is a pretty gate with some nice homes in the area!

No matter where or when it was taken, it's a beautiful fence and setting.

Living outside Minneapolis, I knew it wasn't the Hill house or the Congdon Mansion, and the level of the house (it appears the house sets lower) could it be a mansion on Mt Curve, or around one of the lakes here in Minnesota? Where ever it's charming, as are the ones from England, they are beautiful too.

You are more organized with your photos than I am. The iron fences are lovely and my favorite. Lovely homes as well. What are the odds that someone will see these homes on your blog - not everyone blogs or looks!

Your photos always pull me in to see more details.

Have you toured the Glensheen house in Duluth? It is a beautiful estate and the grounds are lovely.

I really was glad to hear of your system to save shots. I have two copies also but your way is better. I just know what months spring pictures are and I go to the months to find them. I need to move all my photos soon to a new computer. Most are saved on picasa but just for the last few years.

What a great wrought iron fence and lovely brick house. I love both things, brick houses and wrought iron fences. Can't go wrong with either.
Also that was "mean" of you to tease your cousin (LOL) brrrr...that is cold. It's about the same here as where you are at. Darn that Artic Cold front from Alaska, let's send it back!

Lovely pictures! Did the picture not have the date created in the properties? That would be another clue.
That gate picture is quite a mystery, I thought at first it looked English, but then after looking again, I think American. It was the snow and bright blue sky that changed my mind.

This has a lot going on...a fence and a wall both! But in the second picture, I love the way the fence has this graceful dipping down toward the center.

Ah-ha! Thanks for sharing how you do up your photos. Very interesting.

The first caption made me laugh. It snowed this evening here in Maryland. Maybe the mystery house is in, like, Annapolis! Don't you just love screwed-up logic?

I like the mystery gate and the house, too! I hope you find its location.

Love your mystery house and fence. They do look British but I guess that doesn't mean they are in Britain.

Pretty brick houses and FENCES (iron gates)!!!

Nice set of photos.
Based on the stones placed above the windows and the amount of snow on the ground, I think it's USA. However architects over here are a bit radical if they know there's loads of money to spend on a house like that.
I wish I had a bit more time to look around Ironbridge on the only time I was there.
