Wednesday Medley and Bits of Life Wednesday

First of all, THANK YOU to Terri
for bringing us Wednesday Medley!

1. If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
Pray, read, blog, journal. Freeze more apples for apple crisp.
2. What’s your favorite piece of clothing you own/owned?
I don't know that I remember every favorite item of clothing, but one favorite was a drab green (like olive but drabber) corduroy coat with a fake fur collar, my favorite winter coat - that was stolen a couple months after my mom had bought it for me. My other favorite item of clothing was a dark rust colored dress with a hood - corduroy again - that buttoned all the way from top to bottom, kinda mid calf, and I wore it with tall brown lace-up leather boots. Wow, that was back in the day. And I could lace up those tall boots fast, with ONE HAND. It was quite the skill.
Mr. C's sunset photo at Barron High School with the Barron Bears mascot. I thought it was a pretty cool photo.
3. What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?
Well, it wouldn't be fishing, that's for sure, but I thought this was a cute pic of a couple of kids on the Wisconsin River, I think it was. Ever hopeful fishermen of Wisconsin. Well, if time AND money weren't an issue, my hobby would be travel. There are a lot of places I'd like to visit, and besides, I love the planning of a trip.  And I like to see how lightweight I can keep my carry on. I think it's becoming a pride issue.
4. What would your perfect room look like? (You can post a picture.)

My perfect room looks like this (above) and has a ceiling like this  (below) and I can be there any time day or night, praying and contemplating the awesomeness of God.

Right, you don't have to have a cathedral to do that, but it sure doesn't hurt.
(York Minster, by the way)

5. When was the last time you climbed a tree?
That would have been some time before my first hip replacement, like a long time before. But I did love climbing trees when I was a kid. Our youngest just turned 30 years old this year, is married, etc. etc. But just this spring Mr. C. noticed high up in the 90' tall spruce at the top of our driveway (where eagles like to perch, actually) there was a 2 x 4 across a couple branches. Then we found out that our youngest had, at one point in his storied childhood, carried that 2 x 4 up near the top of the tree so he could sit up there and enjoy the view. If I'd known that, I would have killed him! (which is why I didn't know that until this spring). :-)

But I did climb the observation tower at Rib Mountain
when we were in Wausau last weekend. That oughta count for something!

Our daughter, whose birthday it is TODAY -  and kids -
whom we visited last weekend. It's always fun.
Happy Birthday, Honey!

6. Tell us something you will do/did today.
Something I did do today was make a batch of Lemon Verbena soap, and compare various backpacks at the outfitters store.  AND, I picked up and held my Tommy who thought he just wasn't getting enough attention, apparently!
 It's been pretty cool out.
High of 55 and low of 39.
Tommy and Smokey enjoy snuggling on that squishy blanket in the screen porch.

Judy, Mmmm snuggly cats. Always so cute. I love your pictures. The churches are amazing. I always like to see kid shots too. Happy birthday to your beautiful daughter. Blessings to

P.S. I love lace up boots too and had some wonderful fun ones ...long ago.

All your photos are beautiful as always. I think the extra eight hours you describe would be time well spent. Love the cathedral and the two boys fishing. Happy birthday to your beautiful daughter who has in her arms two very precious gifts!

Happy birthday to your daughter. I know if you had all the money in the world - you would go back to England. I would travel too. And that photo - Mr. C's sunset photo at Barron High School with the Barron Bears mascot - was awesome.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your beautiful daughter. She is just lovely. That is a great picture your hubs took of the mascot. He ought to send that to the school and I bet they would use it somehow.

I always love your answers and your pictures, Judy. Bet your whole house smells like that wonderful soap. I have a soapmaker friend that keeps me supplied. Handmade soap is such a treat. xo Diana

Your posts are always so interesting and of course I always enjoy seeing your photos. That one taken by Hubs is especially captivating. We are in Northern Indiana and are so enjoying the cool weather. I can only imagine the aroma that must fill your house with apples and soaps. My, some fresh, sweet apple cider would be perfect right now. I found this group post from yours today and joined in. Thanks for sharing it.

This kind of post always makes me THINK . . .
And I shouldn’t be on here anyway . . .
I need to be outdoors on this “perfect outdoor leaf cleanup fall weather day”
instead of reading blog posts.
BUT I needed my Wednesday “Smokey/Tommy” fix so here I am!

Favorite piece of clothing . . . a green, fleece, jacket type, zips up in front,
Ireland logo on the left side. I wear it inside/outside . . . to work in and lounge in.
It is on its last days. It can’t quit on me . . . ever!

That is all I have right now. . . until later . . .
If not sleeping I would read. . . or be wrapped up in non stop laughter!

Is this a new meme? I enjoyed your answers, as always. I may just have to check it out too. Your weather sounds absolutely perfect to me...I am ready for coolness...REAL coolness! Happy birthday to your girl!

Hello Judy,
I love that photo of your birthday girl and her children.
I remember you sharing that story with me about Joe and the tree. FUNNY! I have a few things I know the boys did .. but I don't know the entire story. I am wondering if by 30 years of age they will tell me.

Did you get your hair cut?

I'm quite impressed you climbed the fire tower, Judy! Way higher than any tree we have around here! You obviously don't mind heights! Love, love, love your photos of the York Minster! Happy Birthday to your daughter--love the photo of the grands, especially the tooth losing one! Glad to hear that your husband's sunset photo was of a mascot on a school--I thought for a moment you had some angry bears up your way! ♥

Hi Judy!

Your extra free time and mine would be very similar. Right now I'm still trying to get rid of zucchini before I get to apples though. And your perfect room and mine would be similar too. What a gorgeous Cathedral!! ;)

But I probably wouldn't have joined you on the observation tower. I hate heights! Lol Love catching up and seeing your beautiful family and your sweet kitties.

Have a blessed rest of the week gorgeous Gal. xoxo

Thanks for joining in on the Wednesday Medley!! I enjoyed your answers and feel bad that your favorite coat was stolen! How awful! I love your favorite room and (of course) those cats!

I, too, thought it was a real bear when I first glanced at that picture! Eek! (Great photo opp, Mr. C!) Another "eek" when I think about climbing that fire tower!

Happy birthday to your lovely daughter! (Amazing how quickly they all grow into adults, isn't it?)

Many happy returns, Daughter of Cranberry...lovely shots, Judy, and I always enjoy the combination of observation and reminiscing. You've reminded me that my pride and joy was once a deep red velvet jacket, flared and with huge lapels. Yes, I'm older than I look..

That’s definitely snuggle weather, especially on the porch. Tommy has the cutest expression there. Your favorite “room” made me grin...not at all surprised, but I am having trouble seeing the living room set up there. 😉 As for what the kids were up to as children...yup, there are some things that I just didn’t know and really don’t want to. They surely had a lot of guardian angels.

Judy, I was not a tree climber and would not have climbed that tower, pre- or post-anything! You go, girl!

As I was reading, I started thinking of how I'd answer, and maybe I'll just have to join the linkup.
I do believe, if time and money were no issue, I'd get into kayaking on a regular basis. I enjoy it and I'm good at it, but I've never been able to justify the expense of owning a kayak.

You have some great photos. I look forward to coming back for more!

I enjoyed your answers and I remember some favorite clothes, one being my blue jean jumper. And I loved wearing boots with my hooded long coat. :-) Those were the days.
