The neighbor boy dropped by for a visit the other day, perched in the highest point in our yard, trying to see if he could detect spring on the horizon.
See him at the top of the big spruce?
He's that little dark blob up there.
And did he see spring??
Nope.
He saw only snowbanks.
Actually this photo was taken in Wausau, Wisconsin last weekend. They have even more snow than we do. It's just incredible, and there will be some serious flooding once we ever get warm temps. This morning we woke to -23F, so I doubt it will be for a while. And once that snow starts to melt, it's like living in a refrigerator that's being defrosted. Even with a hot sun, that snow keeps things pretty chilly as it's trying to melt its way toward spring and...
flowers.

I have heard even people who live in very cold states say that Wisconsin has more snow than they are used to. Wow. that pink flower is pretty, though.
That eagle is magnificent. We have some that are living close by and they are a sight to see. They surprise us now and again.
A beautiful Eagle!! That snow isn't beautiful at all. Oh my goodness - and -23 degrees. Forget that!! Stay warm up there!
What a beautiful Eagle...great photo.
Oh my, he is beautiful!
Judy, how amazing to capture such a beautiful bald eagle!!! I am in awe of his beauty. Love your title and your photograph. He looks like he is puffed up to stay warm. Hopefully you are staying warm and cozy. xo
You have such a handsome boy! I don't care if one lived in the tree next door, I would still be thrilled every time I seen it.
I cannot imagine have that much snow to be melted...
Great shot of the Eagle and lovely snow seen.
I loved seeing that magnificent eagle.....and I’m so sorry you have so much cold and snow to deal with! You are -23 and we are 23. But I’m in Texas and this is seriously cold for us. We don’t hold a candle to the strength of your character!
Hello, love the eagle closeup. Awesome photo. We only have a few inches of snow here, that snow bank is way too much for me, LOL. Wishing you a happy day!
I live near Wausau, WI - the roads are bad! You can't see over the snowbanks to pull out in traffic. I was at a Jr. Fair board meeting last night, on my way down the main "artery" of Wausau, Grand Avenue, the men were working with huge equipment hauling all that snow away. When you visit again, go down River Drive, by the UWExtension office - where they have the farmer's market. That parking lot is so full of snow - this is where all that goes. It's a MOUNTAIN and not much room left. Tell your daughter to go look. If I were a bit younger, I might even bring a sled....but, I don't want to break something now.
the photo of your neighbor is totally awesome. fantastic foto!!!! that snow makes me shudder just looking at the photo.... and I can't imagine how it would be melting
What a beauty! Love the snow pics and those pretty pink flowers! Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!
Oh that’s what he was doing—looking for spring. Well so are the rest of us...perhaps we need to climb a tree. That home all snuggled into the snow makes me want to haul my roof rake over there and get busy! 😁
What a gorgeous photo of the eagle!! Amazing!
And what a great analogy about living in a fridge that's being defrosted, once the snow starts to melt. Never thought of it that way, but that's exactly what it's like.
We too have lots of snow; impossible to see what's coming when pulling out of streets, driveways, and parking lots. One just has to inch out and hope for the best ...
That picture is absolutely spectacular!
WOW!
Wow - amazing eagle shot!
Great pic off the eagle. I hope you get warmer temps soon.
Thank you for the Eagle . . .
Loved seeing this majestic bird in the spruce high top!
And oh my, we have SNOW but it looks like Wausau takes the prize!
