Barns of Wisconsin and Good Fences

Wisconsin Barn, Southwest of Rice Lake

I see that little dog house and think, 'Wow, our dogs have it made!' They get to live in a house with their people, sleep on soft beds, get yummy treats, and don't have to deal with the harsh realities of winter in Wisconsin. I wish they'd show their gratitude by keeping their hair to themselves.

This is how it works around here: I wanted to lie down and talk on the phone with our Texas daughter, but the dog was on the bed. She was not the slightest bit inclined to move, but I lay down anyway. She still didn't move. We shared the bed.  Everybody happy.

Wisconsin Barn southwest of Cameron, WI

There is a roof on this barn, but you can't see it because the snow on the roof is the same color as the sky.

 Granddaughters and a boyfriend

The granddaughter on the left is staying with us for a while. The granddaughter on the right, along with her boyfriend, spent the weekend with us. It's fun to have the young people around. I enjoy the conversation and I enjoy cooking for them. Really.

I SO enjoy your pictures---Looking at the first barn--I think--the dog living in the little dog house is charged with protecting all that is behind him--BIG JOB!

The first barn is so pretty and well kept! The next one has a trick of the eye...no roof! But seriously, you are very brave to go out in that weather! It looks like a considerable amount of ice. How cool to have your grandchildren, they are beautiful! You can really get some good bonding grandparent time in.

We had our five local grandchildren overnight on Saturday. Young people add so much life and cheer, don't they? So much fun!! I know it's lovely for you to be able to share this time with your granddaughters.

Another pretty red barn! Love those!

I agree, first about the hair thing, really, really! Second about having the younger ones about, which I get often too. In fact Friday night I drove two of my grandson's up to visit their auntie, my daughter and her daughter, and we hung out! A blast for sure!

I am so glad to know that I am not the only one who is ruled by the dog. Our Lucy too is a non mover once she gets comfortable. Loving your barn photos...

We only have one grandchild, but she makes the world go round for us....so I can see you loving to cook for yours.

That barn is a beauty. I always used to think the same thing about our dogs, now it is down just to the cats. Husband worded at a prison and said he though he would be done opening and closing doors when he retired, only to find he is doorman for the cats.

I miss being around young adults, when i worked I learned so much from them and they were fun to be around.
Baby would win the Rude Award if there was one...but we would be lost without them for sure... that is one beautiful barn.. wonder why not leave the dog in the barn.. maybe they don't use the dog house.

Love the Barn and seeing the shot of the 'young ones'.

I love the big red barn with the dairy cow and name painted on the front.
I usually have to move a cat or two on our bed. And I hear you about the pet hair!

I love barns and have documented many around here. As NE Ohio becomes an industrial/commercial corridor, the barns disappear. In my thirty years here I have pictures of the same barn, standing, disintegrating. gone. Visiting rural WI is a barn holiday for me.

Maybe the doghouse is just an old relic or at least not used in winter. The second barn is a stitch, great photo. Having young folks around keep us young, so you're probably feeling quite youthful these days. I bet they appreciate your cooking too.

We have to carry our dog outside when it snows...talk about spoiled! And he sleeps between us. LOL, and I still love him! Love the barn shots as always!

Great barn pictures, Judy. That first barn is just gorgeous.
What cute kids there. I am glad your granddaughter is staying there and that is working out nicely for both of you.

I like having young people around, too. Hope you have a great week. xo Diana

That is a pretty amazing optical illusion, that makes the barn roof disappear into the sky. Wow. I always love your barn photos! You have a couple of very beautiful granddaughters, too. Nice looking boyfriend. He better treat her right! :)

Great barns, and I love the one that looks like it doesn't have a roof. Fun to have the granddaughters around.

Love the barns as usual. One of my four-legged companions is next to me right now sleeping under a blanket!

Oh yes, dogs are so spoiled. Most of them anyway. I thought the second barn had a collapsed roof! Sweet granddaughters. I'm sure they are a help when it comes to mealtime right? :) A lot of work when you've gotten out of the habit but what a blessing to have them there.

Great barn shots. My dogs take over our bed just like yours. Or are we taking over their bed?

Beautiful barn scenery. And beautiful girls and handsome boy friend. He looks like some movie star, but I can never think of any of their names. Thanks for sharing this week! (you did a lot of that didn't you - on the bed too)

Great post and I can relate with the pup. Mine don't move on the couch. Hubby says just move them. I can't when they are so comfortable

Love the "roofless" barn -- and the dog, who just wants to keep you warm! Maybe.

I like the barn shot even if you can't see the roof. It looks very cold there though. I'm sure you are ready for some sunshine. How fun to have your granddaughter stay with you.

We have had dogs in the past but they were never on our bed. Never been to your part of the world, but understand there are a lot of great barns there.

Shug said...

sweet place.....the barn does look like it is without a roof....thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.
