Leaving On a Jet Plane

Who wouldn't want to be in England during lambing season!

Mr. C. and I will be leaving next week to spend some vacation time in beautiful England during the month of March, a good time to get out of Wisconsin. Although some people like to escape Wisconsin in January or February instead, that's not for me. I don't want to return to more winter! The nice thing about being gone in March is that often we can count on spring weather, rather than sub-zero temperatures, greeting us upon our return. Not always, but often. I hope that's true this year. In the meantime, the long-range forecast for England during our stay is mid-50's F., usually sunny. That would feel nearly tropical to us, who've been experiencing  weeks of waking to below-zero F. temperatures. Yesterday morning it was minus 23 F. We're not counting on the 'usually sunny' part of the forecast, but it sure would be a nice surprise.

We will be joining our daughter and SIL in London for a week of our vacation. We are so looking forward to that!

Rather than renting a car this time, most of our travel will by tube and train. It should be interesting. Since we each travel with only a carry-on bag, I will not be taking my laptop with me. Cranberry Morning will be on hiatus until I return to Wisconsin. It will seem very strange to go that long without blogging. Do you think that blogging is a type of obsessive-compulsive disorder?

York Minster Quire and Son-in-Law

We hope to catch at least three choral evensong services in cathedrals and lunch at three historic pubs.
By the time we return, we should have made many wonderful memories and have enough photo fuel for several Cranberry Morning posts.

NOTE:

HomemadeSoapnSuch.Etsy.com and HomemadeSoapnSuch.com will be closed from March 8 through March 26. Any soap orders placed between those dates will be processed on March 26.

Any orders placed before March 8 will be processed and shipped before we leave.

I will be taking a sketch book, a glue stick, and a fine-point Sharpie pen with me, in order to journal each evening. It will look something like this:

It's a bit messy, but great for dredging up the memories.

The next few days are going to fly by. I hope you have a wonderful couple of weeks and that the snow melts, especially for those of you who are sick to death of the stuff and had way more than your fair share this year.

Unfortunately, due to a very full itinerary, we had to cancel tea with Cora, Robert, and Cousin Violet. Ah well, maybe next time.

Judy- I am so jealous! You will have a wonderful time, I know. I can't wait to hear about all you saw, did, experienced when you get back.
Do you think most people outside of Wisconsin think that Midwesterners have enough savvy to travel to Europe? I think most people think we hang out with the cows a great deal of the time and only travel to the local grocery store and Fleet Farm. lol

Have a BALL!!!! xo Diana

fantastic to get away from home, to visit England and to get away from the cold... i wish you sunny days while there and a safe trip.. if i were there i would not be on my laptop. i would be madly snapping everything in sight. i would not miss blogging on a vacation to anywhere. to much to do. blogging is a big part of home life, but i am not that addicted to take it with me..

Have a WONDERFUL safe and happy journey! ("Big Ben, Parliament") - have you ever seen National Lampoon's European Vacation then you will know what I mean there. Funny film!

I laughed out loud about having to miss tea at Downton. : - )

Oh that is just wonderful Judy! How exciting for you. I love the journal idea and adding 'souvenirs' to the pages. Yes, blogging is a serious addiction. I hope you are okay without your laptop for your trip. Don't go into withdrawal eh? You will have a fabulous time with your daughter and son-in-law and touring. I can't wait to hear about your trip. Enjoy!

Oh, how exciting!!! I journaled during our trip to Italy, but I wasn't blogging yet (until we got back). It is a great way to save the memories and not forget that tiniest thing that made for a great day. I will miss you, but look forward to hearing about your wonderful trip, when you return! Will keep you all in my prayers for safe travels, good weather, and good health!

How wonderful! And I do hope you will take your camera and plenty of camera cards! I cannot wait to see what YOU saw! The church is beautiful and I wish I could be there to see the gorgeous pastoral lamb scene. Will you be gone two weeks? I will miss you. Hope you have a wonderful time!!! I think the OCD thing is all dependent on the person, not the technology.

You timed this just at the end of DA! It will be different for you by train but certainly doable -- we did it for three weeks with two little boys. I think we just had a back pack each. Both of you will enjoy the scenery since one doesn't have to watch the road while driving. And wonderful memory building with your kids joining you. Have a wonderful, wonderful time. Maybe the bluebells will be up.

Oh, this brings back good memories. We attended an evensong service at York Minster many years ago when our then small children and I accompanied my husband on a business trip to England. It was wonderful-I hope we can go back some day. Have a wonderful time!

Sounds like a wonderful trip Judy, and leaving the laptop behind will give you a good break from blogdom. Yes, it can become OCD but I'm always trying not to let that happen.
Safe travels and lots of photos to share when you return!

All the best! There is no need to tell you to have a blast, that's a given! I hear that spring in England is mighty fine so take lots and lots of pictures and prove it.

Hope you have a wonderful trip and bring back many glorious photos. And if you return to warmer weather that means it will likely be warmer here north of Toronto too. I'd like that. ;))

How very exciting for you and Mr. Cranberry!!

Yes, I do think that blogging can be a bit OCD...but once you go cold turkey, you'll enjoy the break. Your travel journal is a wonderful idea! I'd love to sit and chat and peruse yours over a cup of tea. It would take me a very long time though as I tend to linger over such things and read every word.

Safe and happy travels!!

I know you've waited a long time for this trip. Hope the schedule goes well and you meet lots of nice people :-)
I'm likening the roof of Kings Cross to another kind of Cathedral. Hopefully that's the train in the picture you will get on your travels north although the livery has changed a little over the years as the franchise keeps changing.
No doubt you'll come armed with SD cards and the scrap book that you did a post on before is an interesting idea.

Judy,

Have a grand time in England!
I do hope you get to see some sun!

I think the internet, maybe blogging in general, is a type of OCD :)

Enjoy!!

Have a wonderful trip, Judy! I can't believe you can do 2 or 3 weeks with just a carry on bag! Sometime perhaps you can tell me how you did that! lol
I'm anxious to hear about your travels; also does your daughter and sil live in London? How did that happen? Best wishes, Beth
